Good example from the '50s with La Bamba, always racking my brain for stand out basslines fron that decade the are not walking blues riffs. Thanks for the tuning as well. I think this has soved many of my issues learing these songs.
For all people saying that this list is wrong, you are very wrong, many of this songs are classics of rock, progressive and metal and its not because you favorite song or band not are in this list that gives you the authority to say that this list is for noobs.
Amazing playing! just one critic - you forgot John Entwistle from The Who, who is *arguably* the best rock bassist of all time (especially the song The real me - probably the best rock bass line ever) in both chapters. Maybe you did forget although i can hardly believe you would, and maybe you just don't know him. If you don't, you gotta listen to The real me at least! what he is doing with the bass there is criminal!
Thank you for letting me know this song of The Who, it has a really killer bass line ... and also Keith Moon's drums! If I do chapter 3 it will be there!
Detroit Rock City has its crazy little fills that Gene is known for, but after you get it down it's s lot of fun to play, anything from Rage is fun too
I think it was the first time someone included Rio on the list of greatest bass lines. Duran Duran never get the deserved credits. And, come on, John Taylor is a huge bassist!
Good video and some good bass playing. Surprised how bouncy your fret board fingers are, might want to work on tightening that up but still worked for playing these songs. Cheers
Also a few good ones from, Madness, No Doubt, Gwen Stefani, ACDC, Screaming Jets and soooo many more. You did good bud. I always wanted to play bass but, never got around to it and I heard you need to be pretty good with Math, that I am not. No in my 50's guess I missed my calling card.
Concordo com 50% das músicas, que são clássicos. Para rock e progressivo, até que está bom. Mas em termos de bass lines acho que é preciso entender melhor o que isto significa.
@@MattTen yeah...I think that's become my favorite just because of the bass lines. After doing a real good listen and honest evaluation Gene has some pretty good stuff. Detroit Rock City is a great example too!
Really the best of all time??? I love bass lines and it was difficult to it all. I think as a bassist, maybe listen to a wider range of music. Try what is available on TH-cam for a start. Sorry to be negative 🙏

Wow, what your Pinky is doing is some kind of art, I couldnt turn my eyes from it :D
Although the vid doesn't really match the description, I like the wide range of genres you play from. Also that john the fisherman was insane.
I play guitar but there are so many great bass lines

Yes, lounge act by Nirvana. Such a cool 90’s song. Roundabout came out great and yes, Mazzini Star
Glad to see some Rancid in there Matt Freeman is an exelent pick player.
Mazzy Star was kind of a surprise!!!
Loved your choice......
No distorted bass=no for whom the bell tolls
Sounds like how Trujillo plays it live. Not bad but not on Cliff’s level.
I would add „What is Hip?“ by Tower of Power and „Talkin‘ loud“ by Incognito 😉
Nice to hear someone else mention Rocco.
nice bass-loops
Good video and some good bass playing. Surprised how bouncy your fret board fingers are, might want to work on tightening that up but still worked for playing these songs. Cheers
Great playing! That pinky tho! It's wriggling around and curling and bending like crazy. I bet it aches sometimes, gotta work on that bud!

Here he uses only two strings, but his right hand touches all strings. How does it even work?
Awesome martini shirt. Outta curiosity do you watch any kind of racing
Thanks! I like rally racing but I have that shirt cause I like Martini Cocktails 🍸

not too old just do it
Time bomb!!
Great work 🎸🎶🎸🎶
Hit me with your rhythm stick? Maybe I missed it but that's definitely on my list.
Mirage Funk Soul Disco great call, that baseline is sweet
I have the same bass
Gracias
8:04 little technique and timing screw-up there
Great find
Good Chanel. Dammitt
Day of the Baphomets by The Mars Volta, please.

You should check out stranger than fiction by bad religion.
Great job but I would have put the clairvoyant over wrath child.
Warning is almost directly taken from Picture Book by the Kinks
You're absolutely right 😎
what is the pedal
If you listen close enough you can hear Tool fans gathering their swords
*On CHAPTER 3 there is a FORTY SIX & 2... so they can put away their swords* 😅

Is that an Ibanez SoundGear SR-800??
Yamaha TRBX 304
Can't stand gene simmons as a human being but good to see a bass line in there of his. Try Going Blind...that might be his best.
Going Blind is one of my favorite Kiss songs, cool bass line also!

Matt Ten do you like the Melvin’s version ?
@@HoweyDamus Yep! Very heavy version! Houdini is a great album.
He is the most clear case of "i do music for money and only money, fuck you" i have ever seen
There are better Rush basslines than Freewill, but I like seeing some recognition
Did you ask to Davie504 to have the right to record your bass ?
Where's Guyana Punch by the Judy's?
What bass is that?
I think Ibanez sr300eb wk... Cause I have the same one

My Friend Of Misery is here: th-cam.com/video/bM-cUyi0f1A/w-d-xo.html
Where's De Futura ?
No AC/DC??? Why?
One word: 'Timekeeping'.
Change the Title to 20 "Very average bass lines of the last 1/4 of the 20 the century." cause that's what it is.
Where is Spoonman, come on now
where is PASTORIUS?!??!?!?!
J o j o
No.Billy sheehan,no Stu Hamm,no John myung!!! YYY???
You played wrathchild with the wrong plucking technique.
As great as the video is, the notation is very concerning. There are many things that are unnecessarily complicated and hard to read
