  • Black Diamond and their Highline ($300) could be a real problem for Arc’teryx and their legendary Beta AR ($600). Yeti has thoughts. Enjoy!

    Would you recommend this jacket as something you could fold very small and add do an emergency bag?

    • @YetiYeff
      @YetiYeff  7 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      No, I think if you want a jacket to just sit in a bug out bag you could find a cheap poncho or something
      This is more for being active outdoors in rain or maybe some wind.
      But if you really folded it I bet you could get it to be about the size of a banana bread loaf

    Are the pants as comfortable as softshell pants and are they 4 way stretch and abrasion resistant for climbing and scrambling?

    • @YetiYeff
      @YetiYeff  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yeah they’re stretchy and I believe they’re abrasion resistant

      @YetiYeff that's great. Any weaknesses and how are they holding up? Do you wear them directly over skin like normally hiking pants?

    • @YetiYeff
      @YetiYeff  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I got them Spring 2023 and it rained a bunch that year so I would wear them as I ran, so I would wear shorts under them and unzip the legs a bit to let them breath But you could wear pants under them if you wanted some warmth. I’ve done that a few times.
      They’re holding up great, they’re like new. But this year it hardly rained so I haven’t used them in a long time. I use the jacket all the time though it’s a perfect jacket for in the summer to throw into your bag so that you can have it just in case you need it if it gets windy or rain or whatever.

    Can you also wear the pants confortable on your bare skin or is it made as a "overlay" while you have on your normal pants?

    I have this jacket and really like it as well. Great hardshell during winter hikes, and some summer ones as well. My other is a Fjallraven Keb Eco Shell, but sometimes that is too heavy. You get all the same performance in a much lighter, and more packable form with the Highline. Not having to reapply DWR is a godsend too. Also own a Stormline Stretch from BD, but that relegated to rainy walks in town because the Highline is so much better. Got it for a song with a timely BD coupon. $190!

      @GetUpTheMountains ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@YetiYeff Highline pants looked nice, but I went with the Stormline pants because they are available in full zip legs. I use them as a hardshell in winter, on the off chance the snow is a little wet. So much more convenient not having to remove your gaiters, snowshoes, crampons, microspikes, winter boots etc and just slap on the rain pants over whatever you have on already. Really surprised the Highline pants don't have a full zip version.
