Hello Potters. In this video we will be reviewing mayco's micro champagne glaze. A crystal glaze that can be fired from cone 5 all the way to cone 10. Of course most of us
Do I work in code 6 so that's where we will be testing it today. I want to give a quick shout out too ‪@MaycoColors‬ for supplying us with the glaze for this video. They have their own video testing all glazes at once, here is the link: • 2024 Microcrystalline ... .
Slight opinion about this glaze. I know the bottle says these glazes ought to be used on stoneware but from my tests it seems that the less clean the clay body the more pitting or crawling you might get. Although it's not very common I did get pitting and crawling on my stoneware clay bodies to some extent. If it were me I would use this on porcelain as all of my porcelain textiles came out fantastic with these glazes. I know it's advertised for stoneware but they just seem to work better on a cleaner clay body. If you're having problems with pitting or crawling try to use something cleaner than stoneware.

Your wee one is precious. Nice results as-is, but I'd really love to see this glaze again on the B-Mix fired to a hot ^5 and a drop & hold with slow cool. I'll bet there would be more crystal formation and possibly more variation in color.

Divine! Do you fire to cone 5 or 6? (This is Gwen by the way)

I did really like it on the stoneware -- do you think perhaps it was too thickly applied to the stoneware and that might have caused some crawling? I'd love to see you try again, just because I think it has so much promise. And omg... your wee lass is absolutely beautiful!!!

Great job! Have you tried it in speckled b-mix? With these glazes I'm getting a lot of, what you called "pocking"? Or "crawling" is it the clay body? Or the glaze?

I brush on 3 layers, fire to cone 5, at medium speed

You may have answered this before, but do you do a slow cool on the firing for these, or just regular?

Almost all my glaze reviews or at cone 6 straight up and down no hold or snow cool.
I personally believe that a good glaze does not require a hold or slow cool and that a great glaze will be enhanced with a hold or slow cool.
