- MARS had great success with our many baby swallows this year. All but one thrived and were eventually released. They were a joy to care for and watch grow from little pink pin feathered helpless nestlings, to the beautiful, graceful fliers they became :)
Im in the UK. We just rescued a baby barn swallow who fell from the nest in September with all his siblings who died on the ground. The flock left to migrate without him. He's doing really well with us and I'm learning as much as I can about how to care for him.
This brings tears to my eyes, I love those little babies. I am also happy for the wonderful people who rescue those little beings when they need help.
I used to get these at my high school every year.

Kudos for rescuing! My family witnessed a barn swallow funeral of the mother swallow. Somehow she died and the hubby stopped feeding the tiny babies and just shook for 3 days. On the third day the barn swallows came and in a line swooped past the nest a few times and then daddy flew off with them. Very sad, but clearly swallows have their own culture and emotions. Your rescue hospital is inspiring and necessary!

I think of barn swallows as little fighter jets. love the calls they make, too cool !!!!!
Hyenablood ... they are little jet fighters... :)... when I cut hay in Kentucky they will start out with maybe a few and come right at me on my tractor at a high speed and turn away at the last second and the longer I'm out in my field cutting the more there are ... like maybe 20 or more ... males and brown females and they play for a long time... really is fun and entertaining to watch them ... I really think they may have something to do with the invention of fighter jets?...:)... the older I get the more I love Gods creation and the way animals play
i know i have a new pet one my son heroically went & saved one drowning in the middle of our creek they must live under the bridge & yesterday a "cloud" its called of 700 or so red wing blackbirds also wanted the bridge so they attacked these birds & knocked this one off the bridge into the water my son heard it screaming & flapping trying to get out of the creek but it flipped onto its back so its tiny feet where in the air & its head was sinking under..my son not only grabbed it right by its tiny bird feet & pulled him out when he looked at it it was so wet & so cold it went totally limp in his hands he was sad it was more dead than alive ..so he knew he had to dry it & warm it he did that and didnt think he should bring it home..but he said i had too mom i stayed with him & i saw he cant even fly & i think without a mother he would have died..i told him you did the right thing & im proud you saved the baby birds life..a life is a life & that bird is the cutest thing..it loves me i feed it cat food soaked in water ill try to find it better food..at least better quality cat food & try to get kids to catch it bugs..im keeping him he wont let me leave the room he lays on my lap then when he wants food he glides to the floor and sings..he was on my lap or my neck by my hair all day yesterday & he likes it here..he wouldnt go to sleep last night he wanted to be with us . i hope its ok on cat food for awhile but im online now looking for what i need to feed him better..hes my new biggest fan he stayed grooming my hair & sings to me..thats the best thing anyone ever brought me ..im glad my son happened to be there it was this birds luckiest day ever

one swollow fell down in a stable and I climbed up and put it back, now 4 days later, happy and bigger my baby

They are so amazing. They fly to the Korea, Japan. They have a birth in summer in korea and it start to fly to Australia in winter and back to southern eastern Asia, like Hong Kong and finally return to Korea. So Korea asked to protect them who including nations of it’s migration and investigate them together. I also agree with it. And thank you. When i was young, i lived in korea, a pair of swallow returned to us and hatched their babies so sometimes i helped them. I love the memory.

my son saw a huge flock of red wing blackbirds & said they were ALL attacking each other it was a huge bird fight then a baby bird was knocked out of its nest under our bridge..it fell into the middle of the creek my son rescued him it almost died so fast that he knew he better dry it & warm it so he saved it..but it was too small for him to leave it..its in a box in my bedroom now im feeding it mashed up cat food we soak in water its all i got him to eat but he loves me he wont leave me alone & it was hard to make him sleep he stayed on my lap & then the back of my neck grooming my hair..ill take care of him but i need to find out where i can get him mealworms or some better food..hes a such a friendly bird hes not afraid at all & he doesnt want to be alone he thinks im his mama i think i have a pet bird at least if it wants to stay once it flies..i think it would stay it wont let me leave it all day it gets upset & tries to find me

i found small Baby Swallow he is in the same size of this swallows in your video and i give him egg and bread , he eat it very good and i try to catch insects for him also .
and i want to know :
1- how much should i feed him and how many times a day?
2- when can he be able to fly and live alone ?

I've been told that you feed it every two hours in daylight hours, from 7am to 9pm

there's a barn close by that sells produce and the barn swallows are in abundance. they leave pretty early here in northcentral ohio .... wish they would stay longer ...... summer doesn't last here very long ..... of course ..... don't like it hotter than hell and humid like the amazon either!

Hi, Great video. I see you understand the swallows very much. I would like to ask for help. Two swallows dropped out of a nest at our house on July 19th. Unfortunately, only one survived. It was not possible to put it back because the nest is very high. Her mother did not look for it, she did not fly to it. That's why we started feeding the little swallow. She can already fly. If I hold in my hand the food flies to me. But I don’t know how to teach him to be able to eat in the air like your swallows. When is the time when she is ready for independent living? Please help so I can help too. I am thankful.
