No way that fish survived later. By keeping your hands on the lip of the fish, you prohibit the breathing process. They need to be able to open and close their mouth during the reviving process. Nice fish but please do not take it out of the water and run with it and don't grab them by the lip. They are far softer than a bass and it causes serious damage to the inner jaw ligaments.

Have to agree. He never really swam off. Just drifted away with the current.

Absolutely stunning fish. Like many others stated handling them like is a big nono and thats too much time out of the water.. imagine it like this.. you just finished running a marathon and someone dunks your head under water. Thats essentially whats happening. Beautiful fish tho man congrats thats 1 for the books. And sorry not trying to give u a bunch of negative feedback on such a positive experience but another good practice for trout is wetting your hands before handling as to not mess up their protective slime coat. Anyway well done and i bet that made u high on life for atleast an hour or 2 😁

I appreciate the advice. I wouldn’t have done it if I thought it would hurt the fish, I also made sure to support the fish with my other hand to keep weight off the jaw. In the future I’ll do my best not to regardless

Yeah man. Go easy on em. I’m assuming he died. Eagles need to eat too though. Keep ‘em in the water and one hand on the tale and one hand on the belly.

It’s a learning process and your willingness to take advice shows you’re a good dude. A lot of flyfisherman can be harsh in their opinions…If I may, It’s likely none of those fish survived due to the type of net and handling. The rubber nets are better ….if you’re not going to keep it, unhook it submerged as much as practical in the water with minimum handling. don’t be afraid to use reel (drag ) to bring in a bigger trout to avoid horsing it to much. Beautiful video man, you have inspired me to crack out the fly rod and head back up that way next season. @@kennyjoecrane6050

I promise that fish is alive and well. Despite holding its jaw which I know I’m not supposed to I never touched it’s gills and revived it in the moving water for 5 plus minutes before letting it swim off
