    Update/Response to comments :)
    1. I'm aware that typical WD40 isn't a lubricant. I was using WD40 brand gel Lubricant - amzn.to/2p7FCRi
    2. Adam Savage isn't the only person in the world who's made organizational projects, he's just the most famous.
    3. I didn't add wheels because this is meant for a table top. If it were on the floor (and taller) wheels would be a great addition!
    4. The "crazy face" on my push stick is an emote on my Twitch livestream, join us! www.twitch.tv/iliketomakestuff

      5. If it had wheels you would not need the Lazy Susan.

      I prefer the lazy susan approach but I believe that 4 wheels (one at each corner) angled at 45 degree would make the cube "spinable"
      Just an extra 2¢

      Did someone accuse you of copying Adam Savage? One of the reason I have a hard time making TH-cam videos is my fear of being called a copier every time I make something. I've ditched several video projects just because someone else beat me to it in the middle of working on something.

    really amazing that you just develop these projects "off the cuff",and they turn out working so well. that's not exactly how my unplanned designs usually roll. *thumbs up for another successful spontaneous project*

      Thanks! Of course, they don't always work out, but I'm also perfectly ok with things not being perfect. That makes it easier to deal with the process of building on the fly.

    Can I just say how much I love the way you handle in-video ads? I don't mind ads, but I hate it when maker-type channels take me entirely out of the action for them. Having it done picture-in-picture style means I'm actually going to watch it and it's a lot less intrusive! Plus I also like how in other videos you've integrated sponsor/ad stuff into the projects (thinking of the bed frame + Casper mattress). Keep up the great work!

    • @Iliketomakestuff
      @Iliketomakestuff  7 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Thanks so much! I really appreciate that! I try to make it as painless as possible for you guys!

    • @CapturePlay
      @CapturePlay 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I 100% wish this could be quantified (outside of offer code traction) to the sponsor so they understood the added value they're getting from Bob doing an ad read this way vs. another channel doing a more standard approach.

    Nice build Bob. My "workbench" is 4' x 8' and when I'm not using more than half of that it gets VERY cluttered, something like this would come in very handy, and I just so happen to have a LOT of scrap plywood I keep tripping over...
    Thanks for the inspiration!

    Nice job, Bob! Your comment about the band clamp made me chuckle. So to cut the diagonal grooves for your slanted shelves, did you just freehand that with the router? Or did you use a straightedge to guide it? Couldn't really see.

    • @Iliketomakestuff
      @Iliketomakestuff  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I just did it freehand, which was a bit scary to be truthful. It worked better than I expected, but you could also clamp on a straight edge at the correct angle and run the router along it. That'd give a perfectly straight line.

      I did a lot of DIY things around the house, mostly building things for the yard like decking, planters, fences and things like that. Then my neighbors started to ask if I could do some stuff for them, it's not a full time job or anything. Most of my work up to this point has been repairs or assembly. this is the first project that I've designed and built completely. You can actually follow me on twitter if you want, I'll probably be posting pictures up there when it's finished. twitter.com/SON4RENT

    That's a wicked plan for a simple organizer. Another plan that people could adapt would be to make a side (or both) that fit and hit screw boxes, but then again, you could just as easily make a couple versions of this for the shop as well. The peg board ends were a great touch!

    This message is to all wood workers. This is a great idea. Take this idea and make it your own. What this guy made this for in his shop doesn't Interest you make something similar to hold tools or whatever so they will be close at hand as you work. Just reach out put up tool you have been useing and get an tool n not have to walk a few steps to get a tool off a tool rack.

    That is the perfect answer for what could go in that corner of the tool bench where junk collects and isn't really usable for work space.

    It seems that I'm new to your channel. I wonder why I haven't noticed it before. The spinning shop organizer is amazing.
    And for sure (all) your other videos will be too. I only need to find to time to watch them (in winter)
    Thanks for sharing your skills and knowledge and being an inspiration for so many people.

    Great video, as always! Just for knowledge sake, there is a more secure way to attach the lazy susan. There is a larger hole on the base (you can see it in the back at 4:42) designed to give you access to the screw holes on the top. Drill out the material under that hole in the base, then you can fit a screw driver through it to screw the screws into the top material (the top holes line up over the bottom hole, just rotate the top to reach each hole). That means you no longer have to worry about your screws being too long and locking up the lazy susan, and the head of the screw is more secure than just threading a screw through the thin sheet metal.

    I like the storage organizer? Would like to make one,but first will need to find where it will fit in my small 12x14 area. Thanks for detailed sharing.

    I like the versatility Bob. The tray on the top makes it. Maybe one more tier in between the caddy and the top for screws with no handle...If that makes sense. Thanks again!

  • @DerekCadmus

    An excellent project Bob. My only suggestion would be to add some latches so you could use the handle in the removable top to cary the whole unit at once. Maybe add a removable base unit with castors so there would be an option to place it on the floor if you needed the extra table space or tucked away when not in use.

    Great job. I think the best thing about this too is that you could reproduce the bottom and stack that on as an extra module should you find you need some more space. The top would then just attach the same way.

    Bob, I love your videos. I am a maker myself and am inspired by you. This organizer is a great shop project. Instead of thin strips of wood to hold the tray at the top, what about magnets?
