Atoms become stable if they get the nearest inert gas configuration . They do this by losing , gaining or sharing electrons to ,from or with other atoms . Loss or gain of electrons ,make these particles positively or negatively charged . ... Unstable atoms will lose neutrons and protons as they attempt to become stable.
