- Hello, Nail Friends. Today, we are learning how to water marble. I did a tester to show you, but otherwise this is my first go. Thank you to Heidi @skull_lover_nails on Instagram for encouraging me to do this.
Tools needed:
Vessel - I used a cup I had from resin work
Needle tool - you can use a toothpick, as well
Water - to float polish on
Nail polish - I used neon jellies. If you polish is too thick, it will not spread properly
White base coat - I used Whiteout from Drunk Fairy Polish

Clean up tool: I used a cotton swap, but a pencil worked as well
Gloves: I was not wearing them and I made a mess. You really want gloves!
Bravery - I was afraid of this technique for so long. Glad you are here with me.
Step 1: after gathering all your tools, add your first drop of nail polish to the water. Let it spread out. Continue alternating polish colors, one on top of another.
Step 2: Once you are happy with your colors, take your needle tool and drag it through the polish. I started in the center and pulled toward the edge. Tip: If pulling from the edge inward, be careful not to get the very edge.
Step 3: Dip nail into the patterned area you like best. Yes, you can do 2 at a time, but it is more fiddly. Would probably work best with your own fingernails.
Step 4: Clean the surface of the water with your cotton swap or whatever tool works best for you. I found the surface needs to have a area to pull the nail out where it will not get recovered with polish.
Step 5: Full clean the water surface and start again.

Thank you so much for telling me about your video! I’m going to try. And I was laughing when you said “you’re supposed to have fun” my relationship with water marble is BAD. 😂
It is supposed to be fun. I am so looking forward to your creation. If I can do it, so can you, Dear 🥰
