I have a 2010 328i xdrive wagon that I've thought about selling but the issues with the car keep me from passing it on because I don't want someone to end up with a lemon like i did. The car looks great but was a flood car that was pieced together and I wasn't aware of that until i started fixing things. The car ran mostly fine for 6 years so it wasn't too much of a waste of money but I still hate that a car lot would sell a car and not say what any issue were. My morals won't let me sell it. The M57 is what got me watching your channel as I recently purchased one myself and as a newbie to car DIY your channel has helped me greatly. Just did the water pump and thermostat(s) myself and the car is feeling a lot better due to that. Glowplug and CCV next. Looking forward to the videos!
I am very glad that you are returning to the M57 engine that I also have in my BMW E60 525 diesel from late 2005 and pointing out all the possible problems with this engine. I follow you regularly and I am very satisfied with your knowledge and advice regarding BMW vehicles. In the video you mentioned temperature as a very important factor and among other things the temperature of the EGR valve that you would fix and that's why I was surprised because about two years ago you recommended removing the EGR valve and if it was correct that's what I did on my engine. Did I do the right thing and how will it affect the engine reaching operating temperature without EGR valve.
Hi, I've had 325D 2008 3.0L @ 94k miles and had the same burning oil problem. I've resereached a lot on this issue and also seen a lot of your videos. What fixed my issue was changing the glow plug and glow plug module. I also changed the coolant flange and the car had the updated vortex PCV already. I changed the oil and all filters as well and the car was driving mint again without blue smoke on cold start. The car also came without flaps from factory as well. I believe the main thing was the glow plugs because they were in very bad condition. These engines are amazing. Keep up the videos and I'm interested to see if that will fix your problem as well.
For the temperature issue a water/methanol injection system may help keep the temperature down and I've heard those systems are beneficial for diesel engines.
removed swirl flaps on my E90 335d and it started DPF regening more often, went from regening at 800km to 500km. the flaps must reduce soot. No noticeable difference in power that i could see with flaps removed.
Hi. I was wondering whether an EGR delete should be done on an M57. In your older videos you recommended it but you said that you didnt want to get it done with your car. Also if the EGR is deleted should i also delete the DPF. Thanks.
M57TU2 all have swirl flaps, except the 525d (145kw) version which has the original intake manifold without the swirl flaps. It's very common to just change the intake instead of removing the swirl flaps.
Correct the 525d doesn’t I’m pretty sure the auto did the manuals are the ones that it wasn’t fitted too at all same as now this is a 2007 LCI I’m pretty sure bmw removed them completely from this year and went back to them in 2008 but the problem is you cannot tell until you remove it and as I said I take no chances with them as I have done and seen many rebuilds due to them breaking off into the manifold. This is a 2007 and auto so we are about to see if these are fitted with them or not who knows 😁
@@BMWDoctor well mine was 2007 auto and it did not have swirl flaps so i'm not sure it was transmission related, anyway it's not one of those things to keep inside your engine either way :)
That’s correct exactly that and I mean they are only used for idle to balance out the air and fuel mixture nothing more. They are always open when you are accelerating so useless by design
Want it demonstrates is someone like you could be conned then what chances have those who don’t know anything about BMWs. Maybe , you could do a video on what people should look out for when buying certain models?The car looks very attractive and many folks would go for it.
Your right indeed on this! But the pure fact is like with any car this problem could easily be missed until you start driving for miles and miles to notice it. Only true I had my whits about me that I kept checking as something didn’t feel right and luckily I had 280 miles left to go with it so I had to stop and fill up asap. But bear in mind if you was on a test drive just doing ordinary driving you wouldn’t have been any of the wiser if someone had filled it up beforehand only true this guy didn’t.
BMW doctor help me maybe mixing fentanyl with gasoline might help the burning issue with the oil just a suggestion that's what it might come down to in the future so many problems with Bimmers.😭😭😭
My E60 525i 141kw is draining battery over night...idle control valve doesn`t go to sleep, even disconnected, battery still drains over night to full. What can I do to find a problem?
i purchased a e90 2009 from a dealer in laval quebec from wigwag auto and got screwed they said it was a waterpump but turned out tstopped running swapped for a 2011 engine had to do the radiator, thermostat, waterpump, oil filter gasket, oil cooler gasket found a bunch of leaks now doing suspension, brakes, bearings its been a horrible financial rebuild because of wigwag auto
I never told him when I bought it or when I was speaking to him I never do tell them 😅 I try and stay quiet about what I do unless they recognise me. As when you tell people what you do they usually get spooked and then start fiddling with all the car before you get there

Valvetronic motor just replaced ran fine first day Second day couldn't start it but it cranks trying to turn over
