Still can't believe this ship was scrapped. Still think it's such a shame. They should have restored the ship. Thanks for the upload, very nice memory for the people who were on the Concordia before the tragic accident.
They had to scrap it because of how bad the damage was to the ship and it would take a very long time to restore the ship back to the original condition.
The Concordia was suitable for a reparation and restoration, but the cost of that reaches the cost of building a new ship like this, plus the cost of the refloating operation, so, the carnival group agree with the insurance company the ¨constructive loss¨ status for the concordia, and the ship finally scrapped and recicled his materials. Later carnival and fincantieri build the ¨costa diadema¨ for replace the concordia, a ship more big and modern that concordia. But really is so sad end for a ship with few years in operation, a ship beautiful like this. Concordia was built in 2006, and the accident was in 2013. A ship like this is designed for last 30 to 40 years, even more. Really was so sad end for her.
