Started off the season in bad form but after his brilliant performance against Real Madrid at the Camp Nou, Sergio Busquets has played on his normal level for the rest of the season, a level on which no one else comes close in his position. His intelligence and vision is unparalleled and his technique, precise passes and ability to intercept the opponents without breaking a sweat is mesmerizing. Some might say he's a dirty player but he sure does play a beautiful game, this man was born to play the role as the defensive midfielder at Barca, the link between our defense and attack. Forever underrated and unappreciated by many, Busi continues to play a vital part for the success of the team.

Henrik Lehmann It wasn't a bad form, it was Enrique's system, which didn't involve Busquets' mastermind. If the system goes through the middle, he will shine, like he always did in Guardiola and Villanova days and like he does in Spain. Enrique changed his system a lot in this season, and it's different from the system he used the seasons before, and that's why it seems that Busquets might not be in form, whilst he always plays good.

Even after the appreciation he has started to recieve in the past few years he still remains the most underrated midfielders in world football for me. Along with messi and suarez, he is the only irreplaceable player in barca squad in their positions. his absence can not only be felt in the game but most of the times even on the scoresheet.

TheFNProductionz the difference between mascherano and busquets playing as Defensive Midfielder is huge, just need to see the goals to be agree with you.
TheFNProductionz Mascherano is so shit. He almost never makes a good tackle, just fouls the opposition. And another thing is that he drifts too far away from his position when he plays as defensive mid, which leaves an unmarked man in the middle.

Its funny how my friends make fun of me when i tell them my fav player and the best DM in the world is Busquets. After Messi he is the most important player. And quite frankly he helps Messi alot. Look at the first game vs Juve. Now the second game he was giving Messi passes to beat the 2nd line of midfielders. Made Messi job a lot easier. He is the reason Barcelona AND Spain have had so much success. He is the balance. He is the player ALL the coaches want. Bc most fans only see goals. BUT THIS MAN RIGHT HERE.... The piece of skill he did on Isco was so satisfying. Only people who really understand football can notice a player like Busquets, others just see goal scorers pisses me off.

slow start of season but his last few weeks were outstanding, more like the busi we knew , truly the best defensive midfielder in the world and if until some years ago he was underrated nowadays people finally started giving him the recognition that he deserves.
the fact that he is great both at defending and contributing to attacks is what makes him a complete player ,he's still relatively young, can play at least 5 years at this high level

Really fantastic work, enjoyed every second of this, this has to be one of the best videos of Busquets even though he had a bad season according to his high standards. I totally agree with your description of his season and I'm pretty sure that he'll be better next season. There is one big thing that annoyed me this and last season. I know Kanté is a really great midfielder and played two outstanding seasons now, I also really like him. But it annoys me that he always gets highly praised for his interceptions and tackles from everybody while many people say that Busquets is overrated and is only playing well because he plays at Barca. And I also love his unexpected passes through the midfield of the opponent, mostly to Messi. Those are often the beginning of an important attack and don't get recognised as much as I think they should be.

Iniesta draws comparisons with Zidane.
Gattuso and Keane were pretty similar players.
But, name a single player in the history of the game, that can do the job even half as decent as Busquets. There is simply no one that can replace him . And the things he does, you cant teach anybody, There are no drills for it. Either you have it or you dont.

Very well made video that shows his qualities with the ball and without it. He's been the most consistent player in our team apart from Messi, which truly shows how much we've deteriorated overall. And let's get this done with, Casemiro and Kante are amazing defensively and really good at ball recovery but Busi has all the skills you can imagine of a PERFECT holding midfielder. Tackling, Passing, Balance, Positioning, Ball retention+recovery, Awareness, Skill. You name it he's got it all

This video is very apt. Considering Busi's personality or the level of credit he gets during and after the games. Started with a calm face, masterclass of a 10 mins in between, drifted off the field calmly. @Henrik you sure connect with the emotion of each player aptly. This compilation shows what most people tend to miss during the matches in awe of our MSN or Iniestasque skills. Shows that he's the lynchpin of our team in defense and attack. Every part of this video is worth replaying, well I did it 3,4 times with every skill, the tackle, the turn, the deception, the passes. But he rarely gets on the front pages, he cares a least bit about it though. Maybe he'll be talked about more after his retirement as a standard role model of a CDM.Love the way he did it to Isco and Modric. Can't get enough of it :P What a guy!
