    Great review. I’m all about the single column format.

    They are nice bibles but I'm like you brother , I'm more drawn to thinner text blocks these days. Crossway and Allan make my two most favorite designs now, Nelsons new NKJV designs are also on my radar.
    I agree Randy, I'd rather see leather liners but the synthetic does feel nice , its a unique spongy feeling material .
    Thanks for the view.

    Love your reviews Randy, This is the bible for me thanks. I prefer the bible to to thicker and have larger text than a thin bible with tiny text. This bible looks PERFECT to me.

    I think this is one you need to send to a 40+yr old ESV user who will put it to good use. :) Good review. That is a nice looking Bible, for sure.

    I wish the references were in the center margin rather than the outside. That’s the main issue with the text block.

    That’s beautiful. A little echo to the speaker today brother. I agree with wanting a leather liner. Those are handy looking little Bibles.

    There's a medium sized Bible here at home, with 45,000 entries for the concordance

    Any idea how the font size and text layout compare to the Crossway ESV Personal Reference? I have that one and love it but just wish the font was a little bigger or easier to see. Great video!

    • @BibleBuyingGuide
      @BibleBuyingGuide  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you! If I remember correctly, the fonts are about the same size. I'll try to confirm that.

    Hi Randy! You know the way the references are arranged in the Clarion, side column and near the verse. The same we see in the Westminster for the KJV and in the NASB Foundation reference SCR. Do you know of other Bibles, larger than the Clarion, with the same type of reference system in the ESV and NKJV translation? I know about the Topaz, but they are not verse near.

    In the listing for the Cambridge it just says India paper - is that the same as indopaque? You’ve sold me on the quality of indopaque...

    • @BibleBuyingGuide
      @BibleBuyingGuide  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks! It could be Indopaque, but it's not guaranteed. Cambridge uses the term India paper to refer to high-quality thin Bible paper. If it's a goatskin Clarion, then it's Indopaque.

    i want to get my mom a Cambridge ESV. I love my pitt minion, but that print will be too small for her eyes. Would you recommend a Clarion, a pitt minion wide margin, or topaz. She uses reading glasses but ease of readability is key.

    • @BibleBuyingGuide
      @BibleBuyingGuide  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      For readability, I'd go with the Topaz (if she likes verse-by-verse). The next best option for Cambridge is the Clarion.

    Between this and the Crossway Single Column Legacy, I’m torn.

    • @BibleBuyingGuide
      @BibleBuyingGuide  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's a tough one. Both are excellent choices. For me, it would come down to references or not, and large vs small footprint.

    I think I’ve seen you comment you like the calfskin over the goatskin for the clarion? I’ve heard the calf skin and split calf use 27gsm paper but nothing official from cambridge

    • @BibleBuyingGuide
      @BibleBuyingGuide  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I do prefer the calfskin. It has a pasted liner, which allows the spine to rise higher when the Bible is opened. This keeps the pages flatter so the text doesn't bend into the gutter. It's also easier to hold open in one hand. The 27gsm is only the KJV. The others have 28gsm for all covers.

    • @RustyShackleford-1689
      @RustyShackleford-1689 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Do you think it is a bit overblown the difference between pasted and edge lined? Or does it just not bother you that the past down is cheaper/less sturdy. I am new to premium Bibles, so I am just parroting what others have said. @@BibleBuyingGuide

    • @BibleBuyingGuide
      @BibleBuyingGuide  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@RustyShackleford-1689 Edge-lined is usually better, but there are other factors involved with both types that can impact them. If the edge-lined liner material is cheap, it won't last as long. If the pasted liner is reinforced with binder's tape, it can last for a very long time. I persoanlly prefer a reinforced pasted liner.

    Hey Randy, which do you prefer between this clarion or psq for everyday reading and preaching. Thanks

    • @BibleBuyingGuide
      @BibleBuyingGuide  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Both are excellent, but I use the Clarion more. I prefer single-column for poetry. The main advantage of the PSQ is that it matches the Quentel, so you could use the large edition for preaching, the wide margin for study, and the PSQ for carry. If you like that combo, I'd go with the PSQ. If not, I'd go with the Clarion.

    Is the Goatskin the only one with Indopaque, or do newer versions of the other covers have it as well?

  • @fishersofmen4727

    So is the paper the same in every Clarion translation as in the PSQ, or just the ESV Clarion? I want to get the NASB Clarion but if the paper is worse than a PSQ Ill just get something different.

    • @BibleBuyingGuide
      @BibleBuyingGuide  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's different. They started with a different paper and changed over to the Indopaque as they reprinted them, starting with the goatskin editions. I'm not sure if all of the current stock of all the translations has the newer paper.
