From an era never to be repeated. This has everything; heavy, extroverted and blasting, then introspective and mellow, cosmic and mystical, boogie, blues, and twin guitars ala Wishbone Ash. What a journey. Metamorphosis is probably their most innovative overall album effort .

21 years old, Navy combat engineer. 1971. 1972,73 played this tune & other fucking loud heavy Rock overseas at night intimated locals, sometimes other Battalions. In-A-Gadda-Vida seeing live more than once. Seen IB before ever in the military. Rock festival roadie from the West Coast to the East Coast. 1969 if I remember right they were at the West Palm Beach Rock Festival in Florida. Know for sure Steppenwolf was there, John Kay was pelted with bottles, and rocks when he came out dressed as a Florida state motorcycle officer. While the band played; Born To Be Wild. Rolling Stones closed the 3-day Festival. Fucking cops of every agency were patrolling the outside of Festival grounds with military vehicles with machine guns 1969 fucking nine. To this day, Butterfly Blue, Iron Butterfly & March to the Witch Castle, Funkadelic kept, keeps me from the dark side

Their metamorphosis album is my favorite of all time by these guys. And they were produced by Steppenwolf's engineer and producer and they even had a little Steppenwolf sound from 7 and for ladies only. This has Guitarists Mike Pinera and future Captain Beyond guitar wiz Rhino.

Me too, supported by Yes and Dada (Robert Palmer and Elkie Brooks), with all 3 bands jamming Johnny B Goode for encore, joined on stage by Keith Moon, Eric Clapton and others if I remember correctly. Forgive me if I'm wrong, it was a long time ago!

Wished you had better circumstances to enjoy this song like having a cold brew and hanging out with your pals.I enjoyed this music when I used to listen to it with my dad. I was 6 years old when this cool jam came out

Great evolving version of the band but Doug Ingle was not happy with the heavy guitar direction and left shortly thereafter. Lee Dorman and Rhino went on to form Captain Beyond- a tragically under-rated band !!!###

Doug was losing his place as leader & his ego couldn't take it. Saw them 3x, never same line up. This was the best version of the band

the original guitarist left after recording the first album, and the two guitarists in this song are the 3rd and 4th ones. Which one are you talking about?
