Yeah and they're not messing around playing endless 20-50 shot rallies like I saw Yesterday with Medvedev vs Zverev. Players today are playing low risk tennis compared to Federer's early days. Ostapenko's A Game is more exciting then Medvedev.
It was an amazing month of/for tennis. Andy loses to RF but then weeks later wins Olympic Gold at home, at Wimbledon, on the same court against RF?!?! And to add, also wins Wimbledon the next year. The odds of that set up were/are astronomical, it will never happen again.

I think the passing shot being long here can also be down to the difference in the power of the 2 forehand approach shots ..... fed played unbelievable in the final but there was clearly a dip in the power of his fh. Also , as this final was played under a closed roof , the conditions were faster than in 2019 and hence such fast full power forehands were difficult to return with precision.
I was confident that once the roof was closed that the match would shift in Federer's direction, and it did. Murray learned a lot as he won Olympic gold and the US Open shortly after.
Roger went to the T in 2012. In 2019 his serve went in Novak's forehand. Had it spun away from Novak (a slice serve down the T at 116mph), Roger would have ended the match with an unreturned serve or an ace.

Rogers striking was so clean and attacking here. But I think he lost a touch of quickness after 2014, which forced him to play more reactively with defense, as there were fewer attacking opportunities to dictate points. Notice how he played these Set & Break points, compared to the many he let get away from him vs Novak @USO15 and Wimb's. I recall it being something like 3 of 27 on Break Pts vs Novak. Yet he still pushed close 4th set. So it's not that Roger was a *totally* different player in '12 vs '19, but he lost that little bit of edge that was allowing him to play his game at full capacity. But he sure did well after this wimb final . Only 7 Major Finals and 3 Major Titles - HOF numbers even in the final block of his. 🐐🇨🇭
I know there are trophies but when we talk about the word sport game of tennis we cannot forget the three that are: Rod Laver Bjion Borg is Roger Federer the teacher!
A close final in this Wimbledon tennis contest. Murray and Federer were playing for a big prize so they played well but Federer is more experienced than Murray so it showed and he has a bit of an advantage in this final because of that. Murray showed signs of a desire 2 win Wimbledon 2012 as he was playing some good shit in this 2012 Mens' Singles Final so maybe he deserved to win Wimbledon 2012. R Federer wasn't lazy he did his part, won more sets and he had the set lead so this meant he was in the driving seats and when you're in the driving seat you are comfortable making it a difficult match for the opposition as they have to deal with losing whilst you come up with ways of defeating them then so it meant Federer was edging closer to beating Andy Murray and winning Wimbledon 2012 Mens' Singles Tennis Final! Well played!

It's an amazing inside out dropshot but the best ? There are many shots that are at least as impressive as this.

Watching Federer backhand makes me want to play like that. I can hit two backhands like this at most in a match. What a sweet stroke to watch
