I’ve said since the off-season started I wanted Bregman simply because he brings positional versatility he can play 3B and 2B and he would be an incredible mentor to Vientos. I wouldn’t bring back Pete id either go Carlos Santana and put Vientos at DH or play Vientos at 1B and get Joc Pederson for DH. Reason behind wanting Bregman is McNeil only has this season and next before Mets can get rid of him and all the prospects are infielders so you either trade some for SP or they just use FA to fill out the rotation but this year allows the Mets to really see which prospects can handle 2B. If they go the route of Bregman and Santana and Vientos at DH Mets can use the DH position as a way to rest everyday players and not skip a beat with the lineup fluctuating. I also like it because it opens up 1B to make a run at Vlad Jr next year because let’s say none of the prospects really show out at 2B this year you can now trade McNeil because he would only have 1 year left on his deal and move Bregman to 2B Vientos back to 3B and Vlad Jr to 1B. We’re not signing both Bregman & Pete. To be honest we don’t have to. If it’s about defense at 3B you sign Pete for 1B and just trade for Arenado & let Baty get some run there a bit. If it’s about defense you do that. You can replace Bregman in other ways. Iglesias is a better defensive 3B than him for late in games anyway & Arenado is as good as Bregman is. If he’s healthy he’s probably an upgrade there
@ way cheaper for a lot less commitment. You can also keep him healthy by a good schedule & letting other guys play around him. Hes only 2 years removed from a 7.7 WAR season & he’s going to be 34. You keep him fresh & healthy you can get 2 great seasons out of him with the lineup around him. To me that should be the target if it’s defense at 3B
If the Mets are serious about winning multiple world series over the next ten years (similar to the SF Giants run in the 2010's), they'd trade for Luis Castillo, sign Pete, sign Tanner Scott, sign Corbin Burnes (they NEED a PROVEN Ace and Stearns needs to get out of his bargain bin mindset), and sign Pederson as a righty-specialist DH. Make real moves or all that World Series babble is just talk. It's been 38 years. Time to make big moves or shut up.
He'd be the perfect low risk high reward candidate. With what he's had to deal with in his personal life I don't think he'd be a problem in the locker room.
Hopefully it’s bc the Mets are letting Pete shop around for a fair value in terms of contract. Once he’s heard from everyone else he will probably circle back to the Mets to see if they can match or at least come close…if he gives us a hometown discount…bc deep down inside, I think Pete wants to stay a Met.
Vientos at DH is not good long term assignment for a young player like Vientos. Would he suffer offensively by not being totally in the game? It probably would!
You make a poor argument on retaining and signing both Alonso and Bregman, Stearns is not going to spend to the tune of a 350-400 mil payroll, because the Mets would pay a tax of 100% plus in luxury taxes for every dollar past the CBA threshold. The best case scenario is signing Bregman and letting Alonso go as he's a poor defender who strikes out a ton. Trade Marte and McNeil as we have Mauricio and Acuna ready to contribute at the major league level, both in their short stints have shown that they can hit major league pitching and have done exceptional well in Winter ball.

Stearns is mot gonna spend he still thinks he is in Milwaukee. Only reason we got Soto is because Steve told him sign him or your fired
this absolutely is not true
🤣🤣🤣
Really? You know Steve told Stearns that he’d be fired if he didn’t get Soto? Is he your friend? No one reported this bs statement.
I do agree that cohen made the move and I hope he steps in again if Sterns takes too long. The yanks have made move and we have to as well to stay ahead of them , the braves and Phillies
@@cbungaroobviously I don’t just going by what I have seen from him he does not spend big not his style he is too thrifty . He is smart but this is the Mets a big market team got to pull the trigger sometimes still has almost 100 million to play with
Why are we not signing Alonso ? We need to sign a pitcher please
WARDY SAVE YOUR BREATH METS AINT GETTING NO BREGMAN OR ALONSO!!
Same issue.
If the mets spend on Bregman they can also spend on Alonso.
Don't lose Pete. They will regret it if they let him go believe me.Remeber Vientos has only played one year rememberer that.
Pete and Bregman 🤯
If they want to go for Vladdy next year they should sign Bregman and then trade for Bellinger instead of signing Pete. He’s only signed for 2 more years. He can split 1st base with Vientos with Vientos DHing when Bellinger at 1B and Bellinger plays CF when Vientos at 1st. Then Bellinger is full time CF in 2026 and Vladdy and Vientos can rotate 1B and DH
Love Framber
Offer the farm to Pitts for Jared Jones And/Or Mitch keller?
Get Bregman and Alonso and Valdez or Castillo. Use Acuna or Mauricio at 2nd trad3 McNeil and Marte
I mean Bregman cool, but prefer Veintos at 3rd
Bregman would cost less and can play 3b, ss and 2b. I honestly rather have him than Pete depending if we land Guerro
Yo yo yo
I’m all for it go out and get bregman and Valdez. Valdez is an ace the Mets need if manaea decide departure from us. I see Pete going where the most money is, Mets aren’t gonna offer him over 260 mill. Go get David stearns we are in win now situation
Framber Valdez, Jos Pederson, Alonso Polgosmi o Arenado
I'm good with Bregman but only for 1 year maybe 2 yrs :) not 8 years!
If he’s healthy he’s probably an upgrade there
i would much rather have Arenado then Bregman also.
And what about Vientos
@ if the plan is for him to DH you do that. I feel like the plan is for him to play a position however
Stop shopping at the. Basement and Sign Shawn , Corbin & Bergman. Id the Dodgers could all of those players So can you Steve & Alex, David
@wardynym what are the chances we can trade for Vlady Jr this year?
Probably too expensive as a rental. We will give up our farm
Target TREVOR BAUER! If we got him last Season, we probably beat The Dodgers + Yankees & win World Series! 🤔 🙄 🤦♂
doubt it
FR
Nope
If you think that you have lost your mind! We don't want or need a rapist on our team
He'd be the perfect low risk high reward candidate. With what he's had to deal with in his personal life I don't think he'd be a problem in the locker room.
He love bringing of this pitching lab lol. The Dodgers lit up this Mets pitching. Sign Burnes already and trade for Vlad Jr
Burnes is not coming to the Mets give it up… Trade for Valdez
@dwaynebanks4194 Heck no i don't want Valdez. Just trade for Vladimir Jr and Kevin Gausman
@ Gausman no way
I don't know why they signed Pete & Santander for dh
I am more in favor of Valdez and pregnant. The only way I want Bregman is if we could get Bregman at third Alonzo at First and move Vientos to DH.
Why is it taking so long to sign pete. We could lose him they should pounce and sign him.
Because they are not signing him. Get over it
@georgeblanda5659 You get over it with your juvenile comment
It Boras the Monster.
Pete won't be playing til May.
Scott is going to fck him up.
Should not have hired Boras
@j5muscle I'll agree with the he shouldn't have hired borass but not the rest of your comment scott learned his lesson after last off-season lol
Alonso needs to tell boras get a deal done with the mets and let's get this shit done
Offensively I just want Pete and joc or winked. I don’t hate marte as a platoon DH with joc or winker
Vientos at DH is not good long term assignment for a young player like Vientos. Would he suffer offensively by not being totally in the game? It probably would!
I wanted Matt Chapman for 1 to 2 yrs but he's locked up right now with the giants for something like 8 yrs!!!! No way!!
120 for 4yrs for bregman no more than that
david do something. we need pitching. do something. we need more than soto. major barry ret usaf
😂😂😂more rumors, we living on rumors 😂😂😂😂😂
You make a poor argument on retaining and signing both Alonso and Bregman, Stearns is not going to spend to the tune of a 350-400 mil payroll, because the Mets would pay a tax of 100% plus in luxury taxes for every dollar past the CBA threshold. The best case scenario is signing Bregman and letting Alonso go as he's a poor defender who strikes out a ton. Trade Marte and McNeil as we have Mauricio and Acuna ready to contribute at the major league level, both in their short stints have shown that they can hit major league pitching and have done exceptional well in Winter ball.
Bregman is no longer very good and not worth the cost. Valdez is great with the right package.
Wtf are you talking about, he is a gold glove winner, a WS winner and hit for a better average than Alonso last year. I swear Mets fans are delusional
@@santosavila9312 His price point is $31.2 million plus. He will not hit for power the way Pete will. His OBP was .315 inn2025. And Gold gloves mean almost nothing (see Lindor 2024).
When analyzing 1B possibilities an you do a comparison to Alonso. No added value when you mention stats when not compared to Alonso
MetsCorbin Burnes Jack Flaherty Nick Pivetta Sean Manaea Patrick Sandoval José Quintana , CAN WE GET ATLEAST ONE OF THEM. trade for the pitcher from mariners. or get valdez from astros. lets face it we have deep starting pitching. is it strong enough???
Vlaaaaaaady
Sign Pete, please. We need starting pitching, please. Manaea, please. Corbin Burnes, please. LGM.
I love Alonso but a one year option and grabbing another sure-fire star in his prime next off-season would be amazing! Also, if they gel as they did last year, this year doesn't have to be a wash. Lastly, bringing back Alonso does not preclude stealing Vladdy Jr. as we can either platoon the Polar Bear at first and DH. What do you think Wardy?
Not a Steelers or Eagles fan....but the eye test tells me Philly beats Pitt on Sunday
Soto wants to play with Vlad, not Alonso. I am sure it was brought up befire he signed his deal which players he wanted on the team. Team doesnt need Bregman. Already in house options that are cheaper. Spend that money on SP. I like Santana on 1 year deal if Toronto wants the bank for Vlad. Vlad knows where he wants to play. Trade McNeil and Marte for whatever pitching can get.
And who's going to pitch?
I am not interested in Bregman...... let the kids have a chance at third base. Now...if you can get Machado on a sales rack....Go For It!!!
I rather keep Pete if possible.
Bologna!
#KeepPete
Any negatives for the Mets last year should be what’s fixed via trade or free agency Alvarez was clearly one of them bullpen pitching needs to be better and a ace or two will solidify them to be good for years to come but Alvarez must go
No to Alex, bring back back Pete Alonso
Trade for Sandy's Alcantara
Valdez excites me. Bregman does not.
We should be planning for Vlad Jr. next season.
Why are people rewriting history with players like Pete. Players like Pete don't age well.
Don’t overpaid for Bregman
Matthew should not get Alex bregmen They already have way too many infielders.
