Snake Eyes wears a commando bandolier that is full of clips, grenades, and magazines, that realistically rattles and clicks with every move. Plus he uses an SMG even with a suppressor, in reality it just takes away the sound signature but they are still pretty loud. And they are supposedly stealth, what a laugh 😂

Thank you for pointing out the quiver! I had a feeling you would be the only reviewer that would talk about it, but it was one of the first things I noticed when this figure was announced and it made me crazy. It's like people don't take 2 seconds to consider how to draw a sword or an arrow. That's honestly even less forgivable then apparent ignorance of firearm functionality. That I can forgive because you would have to have some basic experience or exposure, but the arrow and sword thing just takes a little bit of sense if you just think about it or perhaps ever larped or played with a stick in your life, ever. I'm not even mad though, it's just funny to me, but I don't even care because this figure looks so good otherwise and has been one of my most anticipated figures of the year regardless.
You guys really think the only way to pull an arrow from a quiver is behind the same shoulder you're drawing from? Look at the front of Storm Shadow and notice his karate-gi. The way it would wrap is the same way/direction the shoulder strap to the quiver goes if you do it your way. From this design standpoint alone, it wouldn't look good the way you want it as it would cover the cobra logo and hide the design of the karate-gi wrap. Look at the vintage figure, which is what these are supposed to get their design inspirations from. Which way does it go? If anything, the quiver should be upright instead of at an angle, and a little bit further up on the should strap slightly off-center if you want him to draw the arrow from the same shoulder. Swords over left shoulder, quiver on back right shoulder.
@@romankim Ok, so a couple of things. It appears that Storm Shadow is right handed, which would mean that both his swords and his arrows should be drawn from the right hand side. It's physically impossible to draw an arrow with your right hand from your left shoulder. You would have to severely readjust your hands and placement and that would take way more time and effort to draw an arrow. If they flipped the quiver to his right shoulder, the strap would still go across his body in the same way, from his right shoulder down to his left hip (like it is). So the whole thing about the gi doesn't really make sense to me. In fact, having the strap run perpendicular to the quiver rather than along the quiver (like they have it) makes even less sense. It would be a floppy nightmare and there is no way that quiver would hold it's placement. So if they want the quiver on the left shoulder, then the strap should also run from the left shoulder and down to the right hip. So if they really wanted this design with the swords and quivers opposite, he should have an X harness across his chest. One for his swords, one for his quiver. To be honest, the whole design is incorrect. Swords are drawn from the hip (of their non-dominant side) not the back, and quivers were placed on the side of the hip of the shooters dominant hand. Somebody right-handed would have their swords on their left hip and their quiver on their right hip. So it's all goofy and none of it makes sense but it's a cartoon character. It's not supposed to be historical and that's why I don't criticize it for that because that's not what it is. Even so, from a functional standpoint it still doesn't work, so that's what I'm criticizing. If you look at medieval and Japanese art, there's a reason you won't see any archers with quivers on the shoulder of their offhand, other than for ceremonial purposes.
@@fortressmattimus3984 read the comment about what the figure draws inspiration from. then go look at the v1 storm shadow from the 3.75 inch line. after that you can go look at toooooons of the panels from the comic books and all sort of other art for him. the scabbard/backpack should not be tilted arrows are always displayed in an upwards angle for every iteration of v1 storm shadow with the swords slotting in at a sideways angle. always been like that.
Oh my god! They killed Storm Shadow! The figure itself is pretty well done for the most part, certainly. But personally I'm just happy they finally made a Storm Shadow figure that was actually white. Hated how every figure of him up to now has been cream colored.

I’m glad you reviewed this. I’ve said that Hasbro is purposely TROLLING Marvel Legends collectors. It seems crazy the difference between the G.I. Joe lines and Marvel legends. It’s very, bizarre the difference between the two lines. Snake Eyes over Storm Shadow.

I think Ive seen in animation, where he draws his swords from the left side (cross body with right hand and it looked cool) . Righties should always have arrows on right. I pick Snake Eyes everytime, (the silent badass) but I also dig SS a ton. Again, great review! 👏🏼
what I did with my storm shadow was paint all the fingers skin color, and unpaint the bandage on the legs at the ankles, that part should be white and not gray, I don't know why they painted the entire piece gray, it's very clear where the bandages end and the ankle begins
I get the point about the side the quiver is facing since archers generally use their dominant hand to draw arrows, but he'd also use his dominant hand to draw the swords as well. I guess it might have been an aesthetic choice to have both arrows and the swords showing. Maybe they could've went with the quiver on his right hand side, and have the scabbards in an "x" position so it could seem like he can draw the swords with both hands at the same time.
@@AnthonysCustoms the classified line at this point are just 6'' representations of the classic 3.75 designs from the 80's (they pretty much killed the whole future vibe with gold metallics and the lot the first series had due to the not so positive response from the fanbase) so this would be your v1 storm shadow, who always had his backpack/scabbard at an upright angle (arrows pointing up - swords slotting/drawn from the side)
A ludicrous conspiracy theory of mine for the quality of the figures, hasbro purposefully made the Marvel Legends dookie to make their GI Joe figures look fantastic by comparison. but again that's just me making a dumb joke.
Rewatching this, and it would make sense for him to be able to grab an arrow reaching across his chest with his right hand and taking one from the quiver since they're considerably shorter than a sword. This is the only solution to the backpack.

If I don’t see one of these customized into an orange paint job and turned into a ninja Kenny, I’ll be disappointed.
As a Character... I prefer Snake Eyes. Not the Fake Eyes from that movie... the real Snake Eyes. Design wise, Storm Shadow, and that including the Artic/Ninja Force Deco we already got, and this new one. The quiver is bothersome, but otherwise I can't wait to get mine. :)

The gi joe classified snake eyes figures to me never gets old, he's my all time favorite gi joe character. Second is storm shadow. I really want to get this figure. But all in all, I'm always on team snake eyes.

I like Snakeeys more. This figure has a very classic look. I think hasbro may have gone a little too classic. A bit more detail to update the design would have been cool.
Awesome looking figure. The iffy paint on the wraps is dissapointing, along with the mistake about the quiver position. If he had some more hand options he'd be even better.
Snake Eyes. The majority of Storm Shadow figures, especially recently, tend to come out in a yellow snow color instead of white or slightly off-white. I know its not an issue with the general character design or personality, but much like snow thats been urinated in, the yellowish colors on his figures have tainted my opinion of the character. (Also, commando Snakeyes is a badass mix between a ninja and a soldier, so design wise, thats cool)
storm shadow v1 was my first g.i.joe ever. the store had pretty much every single figure from the first couple of lineups. still picked storm shadow, i like snake eyes too but storm shadow always been nr 1.
This and snake eyes are the only Joes I have , couldn’t pass on them, definitely hoping the do a rerelease next year with better paint job and articulation for both

I like the paint on the lower legs. But on the lower arms it sticks out. I'm weird and maybe it might help in hand but I like his being so white in contrast to Snake Eyes black. I don't want him to be grey but that's how you're gonna make the details pop. The question is how it stacks up against a Valaverse figure. They haven't done any pure ninja characters but their standard articulation has spoiled some other figures for me.
Great review bro! just a quick note on the hood its on wrong. Take the head off and put it in the hood the small side that makes him look like kenny lol goes on the neck peg. I thought it looked weird too but once i messed with it it makes it look much better. Always look forward to the Joe reviews man!
The drop down hip mechanic practically destroys this line for me. I still collect the figures I like and cherry pick it though. Just not as fun to play with. I was thinking...if you have not already..but seeing you do a tutorial wash on some of these $20- $25 figures would be awesome. There seems to be a ton of figs out right now that a simple wash could make loads better. Be nice to learn from the master! Then again not sure if you've already done that or not. I paint minis and gunpla and am still working on my first painted action figure. I tried doing some washes on action figures before but it just wasnt looking right. My washes on minis are fine. But I know its a whole different skill set. I'll figure out what Im doing wrong eventually.
Don't know if anyone pointed this out but you had the hood on wrong......he looks less like Kenny from southpark if you have the large hole to the front and the small hole round his neck.....learned that with the articulated icons ninjas.......one less thing to hate.. although it still isn't great looking kinda seems like someone is pumping air into it or the wind is blowing hard enough to billow it out but looks better than how you had it before..........other than that great review as always
Storm Shadow is the real deal, Snake Eyes is a poser but for me they are a set just like Sub-Zero and Scorpion. Wish it had more weapons or hands but it is a really good figure, specially compared with the Hand ninja from Marvel Legends.
Any plans to review the Retro version with the exposed hands and other changes? This review's convincing me to get a Storm Shadow but the preview pics for the Retro make me lean more towards that one just for rhe design. Reserving judgment for the final product though so if you're planning a review, then I'd certainly give it a watch.
@AnthonysCustoms Pics of it have surfaced in East Asia and there are a tiny few English reviews of it already but I think in the US they're supposed to properly ship out to stores later in May or something.

No excuse as to why the Legends team is years behind the other figure teams from Hasbro at this point. Same amount of plastic, same articulation points just one line is way lazier then the others.
I also really dislike the drop leg thingy pretty pointless and will probably just get lose in the future when the same range can be had with no drop leg bull

Anthony, Commando Snake Eyes, then Classic Storm Shadow. Timber is cool. Visor Snake Eyes is not my cup of tea. The dirty milk water white parts from the Artic Storm Shadow definitely keep him from ataining true Shinobi😉 the draw hand contradicting the quiver placement, factory error? Regardless great review.

Cool that you get free stuff from Hasbro to check out. Wish I would get this figure that I paid for on pre order long long ago from Hasbro Pulse and still no sign of him.
There are shipping problems globally which are affecting nearly all parts of the action figure industry. Hasbro receiving a small batch of figures to use as review samples are a different thing. They don't get stuck in a containers at every shipping port because they can just be sent via dhl. I haven't received my order either but it not really related to something like a review sample.
Figures like these are the reason we can't cut Hasbro any slack for making low quality, low effort, sloppy figures. Hasbro is clearly fully capable of putting out some great work, so they have no excuse for a lot of garbage they've been putting out over the last several years. I understand that licensing fees between the two lines aren't comparable since GI Joe is an in house brand, but just consider that this Storm Shadow is the same price as AoA Cyclops and the upcoming Darwin. Which are you getting the most value out of? It's not even close.

Except budget doesn't fix bad sculpts. And it's unlikely the licensing is that much considering the numbers hasbro is putting up. Marvel needs them as much as they need marvel.
As you said, G.I. Joe Action figures are way better then most Marvel Legends. That means Hasbro have ppl working for them that know what they're doing and it also means the question as to why aren't they doing it better with Marvel Legends remains unanswered. Storm Shadow is by far better than Snake Eyes. It's way harder to sneak around in shadows when you're wearing all white.

Hasbro owns the rights to gi joe. Alot of a marvel legend budget goes to licensing. But joes absolutely look better.
Marvel is more popular so they don't have to try as hard

but you can draw a sword with your off hand. you cant draw an arrow with a bow in the same hand.

Great review bro! just a quick note on the hood its on wrong. Take the head off and put it in the hood the small side that makes him look like kenny lol goes on the neck peg. I thought it looked weird too but once i messed with it it makes it look much better. Always look forward to the Joe reviews man!

The drop down hip mechanic practically destroys this line for me. I still collect the figures I like and cherry pick it though. Just not as fun to play with. I was thinking...if you have not already..but seeing you do a tutorial wash on some of these $20- $25 figures would be awesome. There seems to be a ton of figs out right now that a simple wash could make loads better. Be nice to learn from the master! Then again not sure if you've already done that or not. I paint minis and gunpla and am still working on my first painted action figure. I tried doing some washes on action figures before but it just wasnt looking right. My washes on minis are fine. But I know its a whole different skill set. I'll figure out what Im doing wrong eventually.

Don't know if anyone pointed this out but you had the hood on wrong......he looks less like Kenny from southpark if you have the large hole to the front and the small hole round his neck.....learned that with the articulated icons ninjas.......one less thing to hate.. although it still isn't great looking kinda seems like someone is pumping air into it or the wind is blowing hard enough to billow it out but looks better than how you had it before..........other than that great review as always

Storm Shadow is the real deal, Snake Eyes is a poser but for me they are a set just like Sub-Zero and Scorpion. Wish it had more weapons or hands but it is a really good figure, specially compared with the Hand ninja from Marvel Legends.
Any plans to review the Retro version with the exposed hands and other changes? This review's convincing me to get a Storm Shadow but the preview pics for the Retro make me lean more towards that one just for rhe design. Reserving judgment for the final product though so if you're planning a review, then I'd certainly give it a watch.

@AnthonysCustoms Pics of it have surfaced in East Asia and there are a tiny few English reviews of it already but I think in the US they're supposed to properly ship out to stores later in May or something.

The quiver thing yeah. You can rotate it to the right spot. Also the katanas look even better lower on his back. That -1 is not valid sir !
Rotating the quiver places the swords where he could never reach them...

No excuse as to why the Legends team is years behind the other figure teams from Hasbro at this point.
Same amount of plastic, same articulation points just one line is way lazier then the others.
I also really dislike the drop leg thingy pretty pointless and will probably just get lose in the future when the same range can be had with no drop leg bull
Personally i do like both storm shadow and snake eyes, but snake eyes has always captivated me. Its his silent mysteriousness, hes an enigma. Thats what his charm is. Storm shadow is cool but hes always been kind of a whiny loser lol. But thats just an opinion.... MY OPINIONNNN

Anthony, Commando Snake Eyes, then Classic Storm Shadow. Timber is cool. Visor Snake Eyes is not my cup of tea. The dirty milk water white parts from the Artic Storm Shadow definitely keep him from ataining true Shinobi😉 the draw hand contradicting the quiver placement, factory error? Regardless great review.
I don’t care at all for gi joe but I have a few for customising but I think I might get a couple of these so I can keep one as is. Thanks for the great review

Cool that you get free stuff from Hasbro to check out. Wish I would get this figure that I paid for on pre order long long ago from Hasbro Pulse and still no sign of him.
There are shipping problems globally which are affecting nearly all parts of the action figure industry. Hasbro receiving a small batch of figures to use as review samples are a different thing. They don't get stuck in a containers at every shipping port because they can just be sent via dhl. I haven't received my order either but it not really related to something like a review sample.
Figures like these are the reason we can't cut Hasbro any slack for making low quality, low effort, sloppy figures. Hasbro is clearly fully capable of putting out some great work, so they have no excuse for a lot of garbage they've been putting out over the last several years.
I understand that licensing fees between the two lines aren't comparable since GI Joe is an in house brand, but just consider that this Storm Shadow is the same price as AoA Cyclops and the upcoming Darwin. Which are you getting the most value out of? It's not even close.

Lets take in to consideration that theres no licensing fee since they own gi joe, so they have more budget per figure
Except budget doesn't fix bad sculpts. And it's unlikely the licensing is that much considering the numbers hasbro is putting up. Marvel needs them as much as they need marvel.

As you said, G.I. Joe Action figures are way better then most Marvel Legends. That means Hasbro have ppl working for them that know what they're doing and it also means the question as to why aren't they doing it better with Marvel Legends remains unanswered.
