QUICK UPDATE: I know my mic was actually OFF for this one, my fault…anyway hope you still enjoy, the camera mic still worked thankfully 🙃🎤 Wins a win right?! GHG! 😁
He does a few things pretty great actually Killing penalties Winning faceoffs Checking Bottom 6 qualities but he is great at them nonetheless He has been one of the best in the league at them Scoring is a cherry on top
It is crazy the change the team has experienced with Laine back. I mean I think some of the credit can be given to Carrier as well, but it's like the team was in a fog before and now everything is just clicking. Not sure what will happen the rest of the season, but it's exciting to watch the Habs again. Plus hearing the Ole Ole Ole not once, but twice in Florida, specially in Tampa! Made my weekend.
Laine, Carrier, Dobes - they closed all the gaps. Laine’s 5 on 5 game is starting to take shape, leading to assists last two games. Carrier so smart at killing plays and he’s racking up assists. Dobes shuts the biggest variable we had when Primeau played. It feels so good right now !!!
I feel like not long ago I was one among very few people who was urging the Habs to keep Evans and Armia. Nice to see them getting some of the breaks they've long deserved, and getting some love from the fanbase.
Next head on the chopping block is Vegas. They're probably feeling all tingly and comfortable inside due to their 6-game win streak, that is ready to be ended and picked up like a cherry :)
A healthy line up is showing us what management had in mind with roster construction. The second line going as well as bottom 6 is taking pressure off the 1st line, for a while this was a one line team aside from the odd Gally goal Trading Barron for Carrier was timely and shows That management is shy to dump a poor investment. Barron may turn out to be a reliable D someday but this team needed it now. Rolling 4 lines is a winning formula for any team Look at Florida vs Edmonton final Oilers putting McJesus / Draisaitl out there every 2 minutes for 2 minutes sitting their energy guys Florida just grinding away. Look at any great team Rollling 4 lines and 3 d pairings not afraid of match up is a good thing to have Moving Matheson would be next on my books Hutson needs a steady D beside him not a pizza delivery guy
I feel Evens deserves 3.5M per year for like 3 or 4 years. But as a FA he will be offered more. So if he wants to stay with the Habs, that's what I expect him to sign for. But we will have to see if he extends or waits for the summer to sign elsewhere.
The Habs looked way better than their opponents in most games since Laine returned. Yeah, they're 8-4 since December 3rd. In those four losses, there were three that were close and the 9-2 brain fart vs. the Penguins. Since Laine's return, the Habs have outscored their opponents 44-32 and that includes the aforementioned 9-2 loss to the Pens. Yeah, they're rolling now.
I feel like Evans was told to shoot more. How many 2 on 1's has he shot and scored on this year? at least 4 I think. I thought Evans was great last year even tho he wasn't on the scoring sheet much. He rarely makes mistakes.
The first line is not productive as all teams know their power based on last year, so they guard them a lot. Thats why the rest of the team has it easier. Last year it was just them. This year its starting to be the second line as well. So the team is now a team, not a first line and nothing.
We outshot a team. By a lot. Our D is not giving up much lately. Jake means more to us than he would elsewhere and I think he likes Montreal.Term is probably important so maybe 5 years @ 4 million per year ? I hope Cayden is okay staying in the organization. He always seems sad
Realistically if we were to trade Dvorak at the trade deadline, what's the best you think we would get? I think the most we can hope for is a 3rd for him
Full props to the Habs for their 2 weekend wins in Florida. I must admit it was impressive to see as winning against the Florida teams are usually a difficult feat esp playing in Florida. Evans is definitely feeling it and doing a great job setting himself up to a huge deserving windfall in his UFA season. Will he re-sign in Mtl? I would hope so considering our weakness at Center BUT it will come down to what he is asking $$ and term, also what other teams may be willing to pay to acquire him. I'm sure Hughes & the team would love to have Jake back but all the factors I mentioned will decide his future....especially who Hughes has his sights on at trade deadline...bc I expect new players joining rather than getting more draft picks, altho adding another 1st round pick, or high 2nd rounder would set us up nicely for Draft 2025. Great wins...good for the fans...but I am also realistic and won't get ahead of myself (I still feel our D coverage is horrid IMO...thank you Dobes&Monty!)...but savour the successful Habs weekend! Go Habs Go!
Evans has to go. We have so many centers on the team, massive prospects knocking on the door (Demidov, Hage, Roy) he's gonna command a huge contract, trade him now for a 2nd rounder and call up one of the kids. Habs need to dump $$$ contracts and let the kids play.
He's one of the best PK players we have. He's gotten a lot of time because of it. He's due for a raise. I say keep him. He doing better than Dvorak, Gally, Dach, Armia, Anderson etc. He's number 4 in points on the team.
@@jayTealand yet we have heavier contracts for guys who produce less and aren’t at center. If there’s one guy you want to pay it’s Evans, term will be the key sticking point.
Florida and Tampa seemed so off, it's strange, like they at etoo much Turkey for Christmas. Don't remember when Habs won back to back in Florida, usually it's loses, I guess 2009 some say.

Dekesy, look at the header of Matt's "Hockey Junkie" videos he got a shot of Dvo smiling. An angel must have gotten their wings.

Im excited to see every following Habs game !!! GHG!
Always liked Evans. One of those players that can’t do one thing great but does a lot of things really well.
His face-off and defensive ability have matured and filled that space left by Danault.
@ he is Danault 2.0
He does a few things pretty great actually
Killing penalties
Winning faceoffs
Checking
Bottom 6 qualities but he is great at them nonetheless
He has been one of the best in the league at them
Scoring is a cherry on top
We have the best fourth line in the league right now!
Good to see you back regular Drew!

You also have to realise Primeau was not starting goalie for any games since laine joined.
Yes sir!!! Sooooo excited to watch the boys kick ass for a change. It’s been to long since I’ve been this excited about them. GO HABS GO!!!
I feel like not long ago I was one among very few people who was urging the Habs to keep Evans and Armia. Nice to see them getting some of the breaks they've long deserved, and getting some love from the fanbase.
Our four lines rolling, is the reason why we are successful right now. Everyone on the team is working hard and contributing! GHG
Whoever drew up the schedule for these 2 games probably was looking at it laughing at the Habs lol
Florida is usually our albatross… thank god there’s only two teams there. But not this year!
Next head on the chopping block is Vegas. They're probably feeling all tingly and comfortable inside due to their 6-game win streak, that is ready to be ended and picked up like a cherry :)
Glad to see Jake found his shot.
Kucherov had like 5 warning from refs, thats why he got the penalty on 3rd.
3 points from playoffs!!

I was surprised as well to see Habs beat Lightening! It seems like things are finally falling into place for the Habs.
Potentially the best complete game of the season
Evans deserved to be extended ASAP
Canadiens doing lots of smart decisions lately! Go Habs!

He's become the King of the Shorties since Byron retired.
Agreed. He's trusting his shot more. Confidence is strong right now.
Sell high, buy low. We are rebuilding. It's that ez.
If Evans was going to stay, he would have been extended long ago...he will net a nice return on the trade market 😉
I say under 3.5 mil i would resign Evans and keep him. If he wants anything over that then trade him for an awesome package this year.
Resign Evans he's a big part of the team. He's responsible he can score.
we have to keep evans

5th at best
Not much - we need a good faceoff man on 3rd center, one who can actually create plays.
They won 5 out of the last 6 game
montreal needs a top second line center to cover for dach until hes fully recovered---
Newhook is the closest thing we have

You don’t really want to negotiate with a guy who’s playing better than he ever will again. If he wants too much you have to move him.
I like to keep evens but not if it's to much go habs
