    Wonderful video, I much prefer the voiceover videos as well :) This is really wonderful work, I love working in graphite just don't do it enough. It's automatic for me to reach for my coloured pencils, I need to do some more work with graphite. Thanks for sharing :)

      Thank you so much for your lovely comment. I'm enjoying creating the voice overs. Super busy working on my 1-3 hour Patreon videos which I am hoping to launch soon. I agree, I love graphite. It's the first medium I used and I love it more now. I know what you mean, I grab my colour based mediums first and I have made a plan for 2021 to work more in graphite so that's something I am looking forward to :D

    Hi Zara, If you want an easy way to make the graphite powder just break a block into chunks and put it in a pepper grinder (preferably an old one!). For larger quantities I have done this with a NutriBullet. Both ways make a fine powder with a minimal amount of mess. Hope this is also helpful. Thank you again for a great video.

      Great idea! I usually sand off my graphite sticks to get points and tip that into a pot so I dont waste it haha

    Such a fantastic tutorial. it's fast, but the way you explain things makes it very easy to follow.
    One question... do you have a tutorial on how to actually draw cat fur and how to draw the individual hairs if that makes sense . Thankyou x

    • @zaratomsart
      @zaratomsart  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you. So pleased it was helpful =). I created this tutorial well before I did Patreon but I do have graphite tutorials on Patreon that are all in real time with a voice over whilst I'm drawing so every part is explained thoroughly. I don't have a cat as yet as a tutorial there but that will be the next domestic pet subject which will be March's tutorial =)

    You are a fantastic teacher. You should be looking into becomes a teacher on skillshare. One question...when you use the graphite powder does it easily smudge. I mail customers my drawings. Thanks for your help. Xoxo

      Thank you so much. Thats really kind. I do offer online pastel tutorials on Patreon =).
      No I have never found it smudges. I never use any fixatives. I ship them with a sheet of glassine over them and then mounted if needed. Never had an issue with smudging =)

    Hello, I’m a new subscriber 🙂 what’s the ‘soft tool’ you mention? Looks like an eyeshadow sponge? (!) I’ve just bought a set of colour shaper tools to use with graphite so I arrived here after a search and see you use those too. I mostly do botanicals but I have the idea I might draw a decent stag or dog one day. Perhaps😀

    • @zaratomsart
      @zaratomsart  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, thank you for subscribing =). So those tools actually called 'Sofft Tools' they are made for pastes but work really well for graphite. They blend the graphite beautifully. They come in a few shapes but these small make up shaped ones are my favourite for graphite =)

    • @zaratomsart
      @zaratomsart  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks. It's only the microphone that comes with the webcam I use. I am looking to upgrade my webcam to a camcorder but I will probably still use this for the microphone cos as you say its not to bad. Thw webcam is the Logitech C920 pro =)
