Hi Trent & Allie. My daughter is an RN. She just bought a 2018 Promaster 1500. She's gonna convert it. When she 1st told me about it, I was scared to death. She was totally excited. She made me sit down and look at several videos. I must say especially after seeing yours that I am excited for her too. My husband and I have had a 40' Fleetwood class a motor home we have now downsized step by step through the years to a 26' 5th wheel. It fits in our driveway we can take it almost anywhere, almost, but I can see how a Van conversion especially for my daughter who is single would be ideal, especially for traveling nurse. I like all your videos and have subscribed to your page you're my favorite. I love how you interview other Van lifers and give a different life perspective and view other floorplans. Thank you!!
Agreed on all 10. I have two rescued dogs...one is a St. Bernard the other a mini schnauzer...and I will be travelling with them in a van in a few months...and I wouldn’t have it any other way...cheers to you Frank...way to represent van dogs everywhere 💙

I don't live a nomadic life but I sure agree with your reasons, unconditional love and companionship being the top reason, but the other reasons are good ones too. I took a car trip halfway across the country with a young dog and boy did I meet a lot of people interested in her. Acute dog hearing sure is security, as well as their being good judges of character. I agree they're great vacuum cleaners. lol Always Johnnies on the spot where food is concerned! I have a number 11 why having a dog is important in (van) life: they sense when we are unwell even when us humans are unaware... they sense (i'm not sure if that is the correct term) when our bodily functions are not working as they should be... possible medical alert. I don't have a dog (due to living in a rental property atm) but on my "wish list for our new van" a dog is definite. I have an autoimmune disease which involves soooo many "symptoms" and a panic disorder... a dog will honestly help you "calm the farm" and click you back into reality. I think I'd even get the dog before the shower room., LMAO. xx All the best to you guys. And Frank... you are Aussie true and blue mate. Woof! xxxx

Absolutely. I am a HUGE animal lover. I have been fulltime for 2 years and have been looking for a forever rescue. My situation is a bit different. I have a spinal cord injury and my walking is very limited. I also can't bend over or squat down to pick up after the dog. I have looked into service dogs. Hopefully, , I will find the right forever rescue for me. Thanks for the video :)
Yep, I've got an ACD too and you are so on point. Probably the best van life and outdoor lifestyle dog. Best for van because of their s'medium size and, because if you concentrate a Belgian Malinois down into 35 lbs., you get an ACD (smart, trainable, loyal, protective, sport active, great frisbee catcher, retriever and, always "on"). Basically the Swiss army knife of dogs. Very good choice for a young couple. Now for #11 in my humble opinion, they also satisfy the need for kids. If a couple isn't ready for kids yet, then an ACD is perfect. And as you stated, they teach you patience but, you always get out of an ACD what time and love you put in.
Can't wait to go on the road with our dog! We're planning our build right now and will hit the road in about a year, we're thinking it so our Philibert has all the space he needs :) Awesome video!
The fun thing is that my mum never allowed a dog to me, til I told her bout my vanlife dream. Because I want to start this whole thing in 2 to 3 years, she means Id better buy a dog right now to train him for protecting me. Makin me happy :)

Frank is cool. Having a dog changes your outlook on life, and how you relate to all other living, breathing, animals.. ie.. "Humans". I raised my dog from 5,1/2 weeks to 15 years old. Those were some of the best companion years of my single life before marriage. I always blamed Shadow for my farts lol. Always unconditional love. It's the best!!!! Love & Peace
Nice video on keeping a dog and I for one loved my dog for over 14 years till he got sick and had to have him put to sleep. I miss him already and about to go a trip in my van with out him which I know will be hard. I am waiting to find a other Jack Russell that wants me I will know when then it’s time and the right dog but this time I’m hoping for a female. Thanks for your great videos please keep them coming. Love this video about Frank and dogs in general. I grew up around dogs. My parents owned kennels and my mother trained bird dogs for the hunters. I have always loved dogs. And you are indeed right. . . dogs are an excellent judge of character. To be honest I will listen to my dog about someone before I will myself. good points, not exclusive to van life tho. i think my two, 100 pound dogs would cramp the van a bit for full time living, and i haven't built a van yet.
100% agree! Our Meira who will be 2 next month will be joining us when we are able. Just wondering what food you feed Frank? Although, we also feed high quality dog food I do occasionally add food into her diet and in fact may make her food at some point. You can not always trust the pet food industry. The food she was originally on had some recalls and was also a top brand. Meira loves veggies! I'm always careful and check for anything that isn't good for dogs as well as keep an eye on her for allergies or tummy issues. So far no issues!😁 Let me be clear, it is not table scraps and I do not endorse begging behavior. Some of her favorite treats are apples and carrots which are much healthier than commercial treats. I've also dabbled in homemade doggie biscuits. Been a while... I really should start exploring that again. LOL anyway, to each his own and thanks for the video! Frank is adorable! They definitely have stinky farts! Haha!!!😆 I bet Frank would love sweet potatoes! Stay safe and God bless! 🐶
That sounds Aweosme! Making their food would be cool! We use blue buffalo’s wilderness food. It’s about the highest quality meat you can get in kibble form. Frank (and any other dog I’ve had) goes crazy for it!!
@@TrentandAllie that is what we started on. Be careful there was a problem with their line too, not the one we fed but we decided not to take a chance and switched to taste of the wild. My niece runs a shelter so they inform her pretty quickly of any potential problems. Love Frank! 🐶
Hi from Eamon & Bec's youtube channel :) The meat eater / vegan competition video got me here. Another reason to have a dog is they can cuddle with you to keep you warm on those really cold nights... Dogs are awesome companion animals! Theres a reason why they are called man's best friend. We had two dogs but only have one now, sadly our 15 year old mix German shep passed away last weekend :(. We have just the little dog now, he's 7 and I created a youtube channel for him :)

AND....NUMBA 11; He's a Supersmart Australian Blue Heeler (looks like a pure bred). We call em blue or red heelers (depending on colour) but NOT Australian cattle dogs - which is what the rest of the world seems to call em.

I think he’s not only beautiful & awesome, but also very lucky to have such great parents! ❤️❤️ i had 2 beagles (sisters) that were with me 15 yrs b4 going to heaven. Went on 1...ONE boat ride with some bass fishing. Came back to a couple of shredded blinds lol not sure if they were leaving me a message lol or someone got too close to the camper & their security system broke down 😂 either way that never happened again 😂 I now have a mini yorkie (Lil Bit) & she is the BOSS lol & I just keep letting her think that 😍😍 She sure lets me know of ANY suspicious behavior going on within ear radius 😂😂 I hope this video shows those some people how important FFFrank is in your lives & just how GREAT fur-parents yal truly are! I love my Dogs more than humans & have had dogs ALL my life ..Five terriers now but up until just recently we had Gundogs ( I used to show Gundogs & my Jack Russell .. my late husband used to shoot ducks with out German Shorthaired Pointers).. Agree!! The vet gave Frank a clean bill of health, nothing on the scans so it was a random instance of having a full bladder. Happens to the best of us!

I think everyone who is not selfish or mean should have a dog. They forgive you no matter what, you get a second chance. They love you no matter what, they teach you to share and care. They give you purpose, never argue, they never complain, You know someone needs you at all times, so get your big panties on and get through whatever is holding you back right now. They keep you motivated, in charge, and scheduled, they get you to exercising, they stimulate conversations, and meeting others, while they also make you laugh with their antics. Their the gift of life, and keep us human. The best we can be is to act like a dog.

I have a cat and I'm considering not doing it because of that. Having a pet in a van means you need to be with them 24/7. You can't leave them alone in the van even for short periods because if you live somewhere hot like I do you'll be coming back to a dead cat/dog. Also because of good samaritan laws people can smash your windows in most places to save pets in vehicles. If you plan on leaving your pets for work or not being with them all the time it's probably a bad idea to get a pet in a van. I know that's kind of a downer but I want people to see not just the pro's.

Just got a van and a dog! Now I just need to start the build. First upgrade is the insanely crappy speakers in the promaster!
That would be a nice upgrade!! One of the only parts of our promaster that’s crappy and still stock haha
Trent & Allie the stock speakers go for about $8 new. I bought some $60 kicker speakers and installed them tonight. Sounds so much better.

Love this video about Frank and dogs in general. I grew up around dogs. My parents owned kennels and my mother trained bird dogs for the hunters. I have always loved dogs. And you are indeed right. . . dogs are an excellent judge of character. To be honest I will listen to my dog about someone before I will myself. I recall watching one of your video's where someone was trying to break in. I wanted to watch it again, but can't recall what it was titled. Can you help, please?

100% agree! Our Meira who will be 2 next month will be joining us when we are able. Just wondering what food you feed Frank? Although, we also feed high quality dog food I do occasionally add food into her diet and in fact may make her food at some point. You can not always trust the pet food industry. The food she was originally on had some recalls and was also a top brand. Meira loves veggies! I'm always careful and check for anything that isn't good for dogs as well as keep an eye on her for allergies or tummy issues. So far no issues!😁 Let me be clear, it is not table scraps and I do not endorse begging behavior. Some of her favorite treats are apples and carrots which are much healthier than commercial treats. I've also dabbled in homemade doggie biscuits. Been a while... I really should start exploring that again. LOL anyway, to each his own and thanks for the video! Frank is adorable! They definitely have stinky farts! Haha!!!😆 I bet Frank would love sweet potatoes! Stay safe and God bless! 🐶
That sounds Aweosme! Making their food would be cool! We use blue buffalo’s wilderness food. It’s about the highest quality meat you can get in kibble form. Frank (and any other dog I’ve had) goes crazy for it!!
@@TrentandAllie that is what we started on. Be careful there was a problem with their line too, not the one we fed but we decided not to take a chance and switched to taste of the wild. My niece runs a shelter so they inform her pretty quickly of any potential problems. Love Frank! 🐶

He's a Supersmart Australian Blue Heeler (looks like a pure bred). We call em blue or red heelers (depending on colour) but NOT Australian cattle dogs - which is what the rest of the world seems to call em.
you got it! blue heeler! we think possibly mixed with a jack russell terrier because he's a little smaller than most heelers.
Yes, Frank looks like a pure Australian Blue Heeler with the stumpy tail. He does not look like a cross. Very intelligent dogs.

Frank the farting fly catcher 😂😂😂😂😂 now he has a nickname 😂 with the unconditional love added to all that, he couldn’t b more perfect 😍😍😍 I love FFFrank! I think he’s not only beautiful & awesome, but also very lucky to have such great parents! ❤️❤️ i had 2 beagles (sisters) that were with me 15 yrs b4 going to heaven. Went on 1...ONE boat ride with some bass fishing. Came back to a couple of shredded blinds lol not sure if they were leaving me a message lol or someone got too close to the camper & their security system broke down 😂 either way that never happened again 😂 I now have a mini yorkie (Lil Bit) & she is the BOSS lol & I just keep letting her think that 😍😍 She sure lets me know of ANY suspicious behavior going on within ear radius 😂😂 I hope this video shows those some people how important FFFrank is in your lives & just how GREAT fur-parents yal truly are! Oh yes she keeps tabs on everything! 😂 even the washer & dishwasher...which she hates if we run late @ night...like we’re disturbing HER sleep 😂😂😂 yes yes yes MUST love dogs 😍😍😍 the unconditional love is priceless & the fart blaming 😂😂😂 well farts happen 😂😂 & since both of our dogs have Lil/big gasses 😂 they might as well take @ least some of the blame 😂😂😂 I really wanted to go off on my soap box when I noticed people actually making negative comments about yal & FFFrank...but I closed utube & found this video as soon as it popped up...so I had to share much love & positivity instead ✌🏻❤️❤️❤️ hopefully those “some people” will see how important FFFrank is in yal’s life & how VERY well he’s treated! I don’t know why I never saw this episode before.. I love my Dogs more than humans & have had dogs ALL my life ..Five terriers now but up until just recently we had Gundogs ( I used to show Gundogs & my Jack Russell .. my late husband used to shoot ducks with out German Shorthaired Pointers).. Your dog is an Australian breed .. Obviously you would have known that .. We have had the blue dog on our farms in the past .. An incredibly gorgeous Smart loving Dog.. Agree!! The vet gave Frank a clean bill of health, nothing on the scans so it was a random instance of having a full bladder. Happens to the best of us!

I think everyone who is not selfish or mean should have a dog. They forgive you no matter what, you get a second chance. They love you no matter what, they teach you to share and care. They give you purpose, never argue, they never complain, You know someone needs you at all times, so get your big panties on and get through whatever is holding you back right now. They keep you motivated, in charge, and scheduled, they get you to exercising, they stimulate conversations, and meeting others, while they also make you laugh with their antics. Their the gift of life, and keep us human. The best we can be is to act like a dog.

I have a cat and I'm considering not doing it because of that. Having a pet in a van means you need to be with them 24/7. You can't leave them alone in the van even for short periods because if you live somewhere hot like I do you'll be coming back to a dead cat/dog. Also because of good samaritan laws people can smash your windows in most places to save pets in vehicles. If you plan on leaving your pets for work or not being with them all the time it's probably a bad idea to get a pet in a van. I know that's kind of a downer but I want people to see not just the pro's.
Would love to know how and why you choose Frank. From what I understand blue heelers are not so common in your part of the world
