Im 3 years late, but needless to say, Massa's potential was really wasted, he was as fast as the other drivers but ever since his unfortunate crash, you could tell his pace started to drop and he sorta fell down the ladder

Despite this maybe being the 5th or 6th time that Button has announced actually retiring, I'm still sad about it. Massa will always stay with me despite the terrible accident in Hungary and losing the championship the year prior, he still gave consistent results. To say they're both legends is an understatement. I'm gonna miss them.

No he didn't. He is unbelievably mediocre he is lucky to have even won a race imo.
He lost to every teammate he had and the only reason he fought for the 2008 WDC was because the 2008 Ferrari was 10x better than anything else on track and his teammate was having major setup issues all season. When others are competitive or in similar machinery, he is exposed.

Three great guys
Button, Alonso, and Raikonnen are the only current remaining drivers, that have raced the old Hockenheimring. Button raced on the old layout even twice. I think F1 should ask them about their memories from the track at the time, what it felt like to race that track, the atmosphere, and from the cars at the time. I'd love to hear a detailed answer from them about it.
L.S. Moto Button was sublime around there in 2004, finished 2nd to Schumacher after suffering a 10 place grid penalty

Both incredible legends of F1, gonna miss Massa especially because we're both Brazilian. Jenson and Massa left great legacies in F1. No one will be able to take their place or recreate what they've done.

It was a blast seeing button and massa on track for theese years and for most of you two it has been a good run and a bad run but most is a good (: and positive way. But i have a requst for Massa and Jenson if they want could they take a break for like some years and then join Formula electric most pepole have raced from formula 1 and they have retired f1 and then joined formula electric cause the cars are more slower and more powered by electric i think it would be cool seeing them out track in some years if that would happen. Like example of a driver that is in formula electric Prosts sun and some more from f1.

Both Massa and Button have looked a bit fatigue over the past few years. It is the right time to step aside and let new, young drivers enter the sport. But they are both true legends of the modern era, that's for sure!
I think Massa still has a race left in him- finishing in 11th a point behind Alonso (neither of them in the most competitive cars) and a reasonably consistent last season to bow out on, it was a good time for him to go and from what he's said this is only a retirement from F1. A fairly solid finish at Abu Dhabi I'm sure was the best end to his career he could have hoped for, so he'll be happy. I think Button is done with racing now, sadly- even if he still has his contract with McLaren til '18, he's clearly ready to move on to pastures new. He'd make a great Brit commentator somewhere down the line!
