I agree with the art talk. But also, artistry flourishes in cultures that are doing well financially, when survival doesn't have to be at the forefront of our thoughts and when art is something people can generally afford. Without those two things, there will always be artists, but the amount of quality work (and work ethic) will suffer because we're suffering. From actors and writers to designers and painters. We're all just trying not to actually starve. And it's exhausting putting in the extra work to survive knowing that you're likely coming home to no food. Gotta balance the effort and endure for as long as you can otherwise you'll burn out before your big break. T_T Maybe some of that is excuses. We procrastinate and get lazy too. Being an artist is hard work tho. We don't get much respect.
