Wheel Spacer Install GMC Sierra AT4 with Stock OEM Wheels - A More Aggressive Look!

  • In this video I install a set of hub centric 1.5" aluminum wheel spacers on my 2021 GMC Sierra AT4. I wanted a slightly more aggressive stance while using the factory OEM wheels. To be clear, I would prefer not using spacers, but for light driving conditions, I thought I would try them. Eventually I will purchase wheel with an ideal offset for any major towing.

    I am NOT a Mechanic so install at your own risk. This is just a video of me trying a product on my personal vehicle.
    If you choose to use thread locker (locktite) a little red is fine (known as permanent). Use too much and you may need to heat it up with a torch to soften it for removal. The amount I used was fine and I tested removing some nuts with hand tools.
    Also be mindful of the torque requirements for your vehicle. The spacers have a recommendation from the manufacturer and so does your wheel.
    GMC recommends 140 FT/LBS torque to the hub. These forged 6061-T6 Aluminum spacers use 12.9 grade studs and recommend 120 FT/LBS torque to the hub: amzn.to/3t4OJRn

    Revisiting this video as well as the hyper dip mod. Refreshed AT4 Arrives next week. GM only had two wheel options for the remainder of the year. Classic 18” like you have and one 20” I went stock 18.

    Solid video! Thanks for showing us. I have a 2021 GMC Sierra AT4 (6.2L) and "went up" one size taller tire (275/70 R18)...about 1/2" taller vehicle height. Curious if these spacers will work and not rub? Right now (no spacers) no rubbing and smooth ride with the Bridgestone Dueler A/T Revo 3 tires on all four corners. Thank you.

    • @Donslife
      @Donslife  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Chris, I would take some gap measurements with your front wheels turned full lock left and right and see how much space you have if the wheel was moved outward. My suspicion is that you would have a little rubbing at full lock and/or when going down a curb/driveway while turning. It would depend on the spacer's size too of course.

    Luv all your videos. You have helped me a bunch with new ideas and tips for my GMC 2019 AT4. I just leveled it with the Ready Lift kit and now it is time for my spacers. I would suggest more lock tite front to back across more of the threads rather than across a few threads going left to right. Any thoughts on anti seize on the center ring and on the wheel hub? My test fit was even snug and semi hard to get off before I went full torque. Any hoot... you do great work and I am like you, no vehicle stays stock for long. Keep up the good work. • @Donslife
      @Donslife  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Andrew, next time I have a wheel off I can measure for you. It should be exactly 1.5” more towards the fender. I measured mine when I planned for them. The stock 20” wheels have a Goodyear All-Terrain, the 18’s are wrapped with Goodyear Duratracs. So even if I measure for you, our tires might be a little different on the tread on the outer edges. You can send me an email or message in Instagram (info in all of my video descriptions) and I can let you know measurements whenever I take the wheel off again.

    Hey Don, I just bought the Richeer spacers (1.25) and in looking at the directions for the 9/16" stud it shows torque to 135-145 but your video has different numbers. Based on that spec, I plan to torque the spacer to the factory spec of 140 ft/lbs and then also torque the wheel to the spacer at 140 ft./lbs. Did you have some other instructions to work from or am I missing something? Thanks for your response my friend and keep up the good work.

    • @Donslife
      @Donslife  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey, I think the instructions that came with mine were 120lbs for the spacers to the hub and 140lbs for the wheels as per GM. I just torqued the fronts again recently after removing them to install shocks. The spacer nuts were all still secure too. I might still have the instructions that came in the box for mine. If I find them I will let you know. 140lbs would likely be okay for both sets.

      Hi Luke, My initial thought is that they shipped the wrong ones. I double checked my actual order and link and they match.
      The description is : Richeer 6x5.5 Wheel Spacer for Sierra Silverado Avalanche 1500 Tahoe Escalade Express Savana Yukon, 4 PCS 2 Inch Hub Centric 6x139.7mm Wheel Spacers with 14x1.5 Studs & 78.1mm Bore
      The part number in my order info is : ‎AM23891
      I would send them back if they don't fit your stock hubs. The hub centric ring is critical and needs to fit snug.

      @@Donslife yeah I got the same measurements. Maybe these are just a bad batch. I tired two of them on the same rim, both didn't snug up. Will be returning.

    How far does the stud stick out past the spacer?

    • @Donslife
      @Donslife  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I didn’t measure, but maybe 1/8”- 1/4”. The wheels had small recesses that kept me from shaving them down

    How much poke did you have past the fenders?

    • @Donslife
      @Donslife  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      In this video: Pretty much flush for the tire tread but the sidewall pokes out about 1/2”-3/4”.

    What do you do when there is a wobble in the steering?

    • @Donslife
      @Donslife  ปีที่แล้ว

      Properly installed hub centric spacers wouldn’t contribute to steering wobble. Usually an unbalanced wheel is the culprit. Second, maybe a suspension component is out of spec or improperly adjusted.
