Need help in researching Russian/Soviet Era Navy Ensembles/Choirs. Was there not a Northern Fleet Ensemble based out of Murmansk back in the day? I saw them perform in Halifax in 1967 and was blown away, as a 10 year old seeing them. Searching the googles and youtubes, its all Red Army stuff.
The video is from the Soviet Navy's short golden period: 1970-1987. In 1970 the Soviet Navy had first drills with a name OKEAN. They issued a special book with photos which I have. In this book you have a photo of a pre-WW2 battleship, complete with giant rotating turrets. In 1970, the US Navy routinely shot F4-Ds off its nuclear powereed aircraft carriers, and F14 made its first flight. Yes the song is good. But the surface Soviet Navy was effectively two eras behind the US (the electronics was still radiolamps). So, a good song isn't nearly enough.
