      Lovely Video! Sorry for chiming in, I would appreciate your thoughts. Have you heard the talk about - Chireetler Dread Free Rule (should be on google have a look)? It is an awesome one off product for learning effective self defence moves without the normal expense. Ive heard some decent things about it and my friend Sam at last got excellent success with it.

    Remember head control. Pushing the subjects head down and not allowing it to come up helps defend the take down l.

  • @claudiuszenasi6171
    @claudiuszenasi6171 8 ปีที่แล้ว +10

    I watch this and shutter... the last thing you want to do is strike before defending the takedown. that is the best way to ensure getting taken down. Never defend and strike at the same time... this is a 101 cardinal rule. Either strike with an uppercut or knee on the way in or defend the takedown and move forward with weapon retention and standing back up.

      @SlappinTitties420 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Claudiu Szenasi I half way agree with you. If he was .ore aware of his ground tactics a palm strike to the ear could help him. With head control practically given to him in the stunt he could have mentioned something about that also. But still good tactic for someone WHO DOESNT KNOW what to do.

    • @SlappinTitties420
      @SlappinTitties420 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Claudiu Szenasi oh also my bad I didn't fully read what u said cause my phone glitched half your self sentence out but yeah. Knee or upper cutting. Really stuff the take down switch to his back can either body triangle with a rare naked choke why other officer grabs hands or something along those lines. Not a cop just a fighter :)

      Gents in ALOT of states RNC is NOT an option unless lethal force can be articulated hell your arm hangs around the neck go see IA. And the techniques have too be created and done for numerous and vast majority of body types etc. not the best techniques here but they will do in a pinch since its going in right direction. The avg LEO does NOT train even slightly and DT in most areas is NOT mandatory like firearms. I would love for officers too be mandated to train and be physically fit etc. but it doesn't work that way right now. If I told you some of the crap that is taught at various depts. your head would explode like mines does since its horrible.

    I think it is tricky, if people know how to set up a takedown. The way shown in the video is almost the same as I do it but still: If someone is good, he can go into a takedown in a fraction of a second after a punching sequence or something. The reaction time is very vers small there. For example if the opponent makes you move backwards and then moves into a takedown very fast, it is much harder to react than if the attacker lunches from 2 meters away. Keep that in mind. Best regards

    GST take down defense and survival, or KMWW FTD both have excellent and more realistic results for this maneuver, especially in gear and a vest. Sprawls are not always a great option, especially with elemental or terrain concerns.

    Police departments have no trouble asking for a background in criminal justice or a clean background check or good credit and a million other things .
    Start INCENTIVIZING officers with this training with bonuses to start or bumps to salary; begin employing civilians with the training required to arm departments !
    95% of fights go to the ground the greater majority of the time there is no magic silver bullet defensive tactics move to stop a grappler. The trouble is ; any good grappler is a master of trying one move, troubleshooting it , switching between techniques , and capitalizing on space, lack thereof, whatever Limbs you leave hanging , your balance and the terrain you fight on (is it hilly, are you standing in gravel, is it wet out , etc)
    Everywhere I go I hear about budgetary concerns and time it takes to train.
    I’m personally in corrections now and finishing my CJ degree until I can get with the state police or local PD.
    After being through defensive tactics geared toward corrections officers (who are largely other than a radio and pepper spray unarmed ), I can tell you most agencies are woefully unprepared for the reality of grappling and the ground .
    I wrestled in high school and am also a three stripe blue belt in Jiu jitsu.
    What I know and how well I can do it is far more indispensable than you may realize and I can promise if the majority of officers knew what I know how to do There would be no issue.
    In my world offenders who are trained in grappling would be your worst nightmare if they were trained In grappling and that’s where once I radio , my backup is 30-45 seconds away.
    I have NO CLUE what you would do if your support was 10 minutes away.
    Rickson Gracie says “I am a shark, the ground is my ocean, and most people can’t swim,” and that is just about how it goes .
    Departments nationwide can not afford to ignore the fact that suspects or offenders trained in mixed martial arts are a thing and will only continue to grow in number .
    Ten years from now a traffic stop will have the potential to be much more deadly than you can even imagine .
    Police And correctional departments need to change the thinking from we don’t have the time and money to do this and train adequately, 180 degrees to “we can’t afford to NOT train our officers , or afford NOT to make an active attempt to recruit people with these skills .”
    THe 21st century of law enforcement and corrections will either be won by offenders and suspects or by corrections and police professionals with sufficient training.
    Not just to avoid injuries to themselves but also to limit department exposure to litigation from use of force incidents . An officer who has a recourse and does NOT need to escalate to deadly force leads to more safety for himself and the officer.
    The armed forces figured this out a long time ago; with bayonet training .
    When I enlisted in the United States Army In 2005 I was taught to use a bayonet and to fight with one and to defend with it , etc.
    My drill sergeant beat it into my head it wasn’t being the best bayonet fighters that gave us an advantage in war , it was the MENTALITY it takes to be a great bayonet fighter that led us to win .
    An officer who has that extra ,unseen tool will carry himself with confidence , clarity , and an awareness that simply cannot be replaced . Use of force continuum is a tricky thing to navigate and be perception of danger is a lot different to someone with proper training .
    Ghandi said “no one can hurt me without my permission,” and when you feel that way, you as an officer feel empowered to do your job , get home safely , and to never feel out of control and use more force than needed , and to have that perception that you can overcome the unfortunate reality of physical altercations with those who would refuse to defer to verbal commands and remain compliant!

    the only thing about this technique is if the person fakes a take down and throw a punch you are vulnerale to knock out the safest way to do it is to take your interview stance bvack a foot in a half to the safe zone, and side step any attack and counter.

  • @mrchow8593
    @mrchow8593 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Lowering your center of gravity is good but a better option than striking is to frame with your forearm across the upper chest neck area. Striking will likely cause him to continue to close the distance to get inside your strikes while framing will allow you to create distance and drive his center of gravity up preventing the takedown.

That sprawl is very important to do encase they try take you down, I know Im have extensive wrestling background and its fits well with my Krav Maga training. Also, being comfortable on the ground is very important just encase you find yourself actually on the ground.

    The stuff I would probably reach at least one arm under the chest to get better leverage. Single leg takedowns can lead to traditionally submissive positions (on the back). Even if he firmly grabs the single leg, if the defender has a good low angle of defense, it can be defended.

    That take down defense is okay but I personally prefer one called the Wizard, you basically use one arm to under hook the arm pit of the attacker from the back (look it up), by doing this, you can chuck your opponent to the side, or implore a number of other counter offensive techniques. The wizard, also leaves your other arm free to further attack your opponent. The Wizard is the number one take down defense tool in wrestling, and one that I have used many times. I have four years of high school wrestling and two years of club wrestling in college.

    Officer Nance needs to defend with an undeerhook instead of positioning his hands on the back of his opponents head. Training underhooks/whizzers will allow for an instinctual defence to a takedown, giving your brain time to catch up and sprawl effectively. speaking as a sprawl and Brawler here ;)

    There's a real good striking point right there if you hit it on the corner right behind the ear. Should knock a guy out every time. Back in the old days sixty years ago there was this little guy that was quick as lightning and he was tough and he got into it with this big dude was a hundred pounds heavier and they would about once a month the big guy would come up there and bet $50 he could beat that little guy little guy throw the 50 on the bar. He danced around their the big guy couldn't hit him. Finally at some point the little guy got outside and always hit him right behind the ear between the ear and the neck kind of the base of the skull. Knockout every time. As soon as this person grabs you is a policeman you have broad Lee way as far as what you do for a response. Fix that guy when he grabbed that leg you've got the ring his Bell.

      Yeah this guy is not currently very eloquent with his movement. Might be from an injury or just getting older and a little heavier - seen it happen to many athletes.
      Or he may just not have trained much.
      But do not be fooled - there are plenty of people out their that have amazing knowledge but can no longer fully demo the knowledge because of physical issues. A teacher does not have to be a fighter and a fighter is not always a good teacher.

    Not sure that officer is qualified to teach. If I were a “bad guy” and a “wrestler”, I would gladly take that single leg officer. Here’s the secret to good law enforcement defensive tactics, “Get off your a## and train like your life depends on it!”
    It’s called “tough love.” Lazy and out of shape cops are too common these days. Sad, but true.

Having worked as a bouncer for many years i can safely say most of these moves do not work at all....in a dojo where the opponent is willing to go along with the move it works....when u add reality into the mix they dont work. Reallity being someone thats on crystal meth or has a mental inness....iv kicked and punched people so hard it would shock you....choked them as well. Yes, yang on yang is poor strategy. Meth or mental illness means they are out of control. If you have good self-awareness and technique, their lack of mental organization will help you. If you don't, no flying dim mak kimura will help you. Sadly a person can be involved in martial arts for a lifetime and never find a good enough teacher to truly learn how this works.

      A month of Greco-Roman wrestling is 1000% better for LEO than BJJ, other than maybe your first 2 weeks of Gracie combatives to learn scissor sweep and mount escape. Handfighting, throws and defenses from standing, etc, are all far more relevant to someone with a toolbelt, and more advanced and trained more effectively in GR, whereas they're afterthoughts in BJJ, even Gracie.

    This is terrible. Proper takedown defense is to use your head, then hands, then forearms, then your sprawl. If the guy gets your leg do not try to strike at that point cause a guy with some grit will take those small strikes and still take you down. The best thing to do at that point is to push the guys head down and hit him in his shoulder with your hip. Keep your boot laces on the mat and when you feel his grip break either go around him to take his back or stand back up and create distance.

  • @DoktorSick

    good video on what not to do. where did you learn this? it's really a good idea for the officers own safety to train in a real grappling art like Judo or Brazilian jujitsu and not just watch TH-cam and take instructions from a training officer who doesn't know what he's doing . go take bjj and judo then start posting videos. scary

    • @floydburkett2749

      K K most us officers have taken traditional classes. This is just basic reminders and ideas. If you see something you like use it. Never stop watching or learning from others. Remember also that our techniques take into consideration the safety of the person your fighting. As a child i was taught traditional chinese kenpo. I am very good at it but i cant kill everyone i have to fight. Best of luck and be safe

      What if there are no BJJ schools in your area, or you can't afford them? What about if you're taking BJJ but they haven't covered this situation since you've been there but you need it TODAY? BJJ AND Judo? L.O.L., most of us have a life other than MA training. These videos can be useful, don't knock it.
      "Good video on what not to do"? Be specific if you think he did something wrong, & give a better alternative, instead of just talking trash.

      @2:29... “now you’re only offering one leg essentially.” Fuck that. Sprawl! I ain’t offering a leg for a single leg take down. This is bullshit. I agree with you.

    • @kristiannoetorres
      @kristiannoetorres 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@airbornedaddydan yup, if you give him your leg he can lift it up and do any number of takedowns or grab the other leg and finish a double leg which you can see a lot if in untrained people in street fights. Sprawl with both legs, grab his opposite leg and with one hand and with the other go for a cross face and take his back and ride him. Much safer and more control. Really high percentage and much more control.
