My Bavarian mountain hound is fairly calm but likes to hunt as much as possible, she doesn’t like being left alone and is very intelligent in many ways,
My Bavarian mountain hound loves her sleep loves walks like any other dog and she likes naps and I sometimes take her to Scotland I’m in the UK and talking about my older one my older one got birth so now I have 2 Bavarian mountains hounds 2
I have just met a puppy....very beautiful, coat like velvet, kind eyes, highly intelligent....an absolute joy...not for everyone though. Their owner needs to be firm but kind, consistent and clever and know how to train because this dog wants to work and have something to do..a good partner..it will read your mind.
I've got a 5 month BMH cross Labrador. Both parents are working line, but we have him as a family pet. He's great with the our kids and other dogs. His recall isn't always great, though - even if we reward him with treats....
@@Longtail_edits I agree, people love mudding up the lines by making mutts. I love all dogs but breeding a mutt for no reason or purpose other than to say they have a weird mix is annoying and all they are doing is destroying the lines of the breed. The US is full of mill breeders who make mixes and try to sell them at high prices while telling buyers lies about the mix they made.
My rescue BMH Alfie has always been quite nervous due to his traumatic background. He grows in confidence daily thanks to our other, more confident dog. Despite lots of progress he still isn't the biggest fan of children and much prefers women to men. Luckily for us he is very loyal and even when off lead he rarely leaves the path.
How active, lively, and intelligent is your Bavarian? Do they show separation anxiety if left alone for a long time? Let us know in the comments below!
Would this breed match well with a Dachshund? Large house with acres outside and the dog would be used actively. I'm just scared it won't match with my gf's teckel :/
I also want to add that my bmh is the best friend I’ve ever had, shes great with my kids and is just an extension of the family, an all round brilliant dog, friend and hunting partner. She is happy to live with smaller dogs and cats! But beware they don’t like prey animals normally! no rabbits, mice, rats, hamsters etc
I got my Diego dog back in October 2021, he supposed to be a crossbreed of a crossbreed and mountain hound. But he also looks like rhodesian ridgeback, me and my parents are kinda confused about his original breed.
Met one of them today. I know rodies. This guy basically came up and said " Can you be my dad?" Of course I could not. Already had a mama. I don't know why, but there is some connection there.
I briefly one a week ago . One of the nicest looking dogs I've ever seen Your video was an eye opener . I lost interest in the breed by fact 5 Not the right for me
I must totaly disagree, these dogs are horrible, avaricious, they tend to bark constantly. There have been numerous lawsuits involving that breed, in my opinion they should require a permit to own. They attack other animals, cause nuissance by constant barking simply upon any stimulus or non at all like the wind etc. or pedestrians walking and in worst case scenario they can bite people.
If you're nieghbors have untrained annoying dogs you can just say so, no need to attack an entire breed lol if you think German hounds are bad you are lucky you've never met an American coonhound 😂
Agree they are not your typical pet and should not be kept by novice dog owners. However, any undesired behavior can be channeled. My girl was a nightmare when she came from the breeder she 27 weeks, it took about half a year to get her right. My girl is excellent with her four pack mates and does not chase the chickens now, but thrives on her tracking skills.

Real working dog owners don’t create mutts unless they are appilachain

They look like they have a common ancestor with a Plott Hound.
