    Love my coffee and love it even more now that I've seen your vlog and understand the incredible, labour intense process. Wow! Thanks to all the coffee growers ...hope they know how much their efforts mean to us coffee drinkers all over the world. Thanks too Eileen for another fabulous vlog.
    Sharing this one. Again!! Keep them coming.

      It was incredible to see how much work goes into a single cup of coffee and now I appreciate it more too! I found it really interesting to learn about which countries consume the most coffee as well :) Glad you enjoyed the video!

Talk about a challenging plant to farm! This experience will always be in the back of my mind now whenever I have a cup.

    Hey beauty.. I am Colombian and I really like your demeanor and appreciate that you took the time to explain the processes of the coffee and to show a little piece of my country and its costumes. Definitely, the only way to give an unbiased opinion about a place and its people is to go and immerse in its environment for the longest time possible. In this way you'll be deft to comments and opinions of people that saw things in tv or hearsay. Love it.

    I grew up around Salento, just 30 minutes away!
    The funny thing about coffee in Colombia is that, having some of the best quality grains in the world, most of them are exported and we Colombians consume the low grade stuff.
    Instant coffee is very common, that's the way we had it for breakfast ( a spoon or two in a glass of milk).

    • @EileenAldis
      @EileenAldis  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Brian! Wow, did you really? What a gorgeous area you grew up in! It's funny because we did learn that during our travels. In fact, we started drinking instant coffee ourselves! Cafe Quindío makes my favourite kind :) I've never tried it with a glass of milk though.

    • @byrlink

      Yes, I loved living there. We still have our house and family there, even though I haven't been back in 18 years! I left with my sister in 1999 to New York due to the terrible political and economic situation in the country.
      You would never see a single foreign tourist during all those years. Colombia has been kind of a forbidden destination for decades. Things are changing very quickly lately.
      Thanks for visiting, and for the videos!

    • @EileenAldis
      @EileenAldis  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Lulu the fixer. :) This video did cause me to crave a cup of coffee. BTW ... you are an editing guru! The dialogue shorts separated with video overlays were a joy to experience. I hate to say it but Lulu is a hustler. She looks very healthy and appears to be experiencing a whole life. Hats off and three cheers for coffee and it nuances, Columbia and her people, and finally to your desire to travel and share your experience. Thank you, Eileen.

      Hi Mylon! Lulu seemed like the mayor of the town. It felt like she adopted us! And thank you! But I have to give Marc a ton of credit - he's the real editing wizard! I hope you had easy access to coffee when the craving hit :) So glad you found it as interesting as I did. It really makes me appreciate everything that goes into that little cup.

      Here in Colombia an expert coffee collector earns and average of $5 dollars a day. They start at 6:30 am until they get tired rain or shine. They get paid by the kilo collected. In USA you paid and average of $2 to $4 dollars for a cup of coffee. This is what is called labor exploitation.

    Excellent Coffee!.... The reasons why Colombian coffee is the best coffee in the world, are because:
    1.) The soil fertility is extremely good because of the volcanic soil. The mountains in Colombia are actually volcanoes, these volcanoes are dormant .... not active volcanoes..
    2.) and also because the coffee is hand picked... therefore the best coffee beans are picked from the plantations. Basically no industrial machines and or tractors are used at all.
    The coffee is actually picked by human beings... mainly picked by woman...

    • @EileenAldis
      @EileenAldis  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello, Yes, we learned about some of these things that make Colombia a great place for growing coffee. It's incredible to think of all the beans being picked by hand.

    People please don't argue about which countrys coffee is better.. You do know it depends in the soil, whether they pick it green or wait till is mature, the process of cleaning and drying and roasting, etc.. every little detail counts.. so is not the country but the process.. coffee is like wine grapes.. I'm not much of a coffee drinker everything I have tried at those big famous places😝😝😝.. however I know people who gets their coffee in the mail from their native country, hand picked and roasted by family members and oh.my what a difference, now that's something you can drink every morning..

(I gave you all the credit for the video and let everyone know to follow you) My entire viewership was very invested in the puppy and loved your video. We are trying to show case great things around the world as we fly around. Great video and looks like you had a great time there

      Paula Santillan so she's from Canada? That's why she has a fairly different accent from american.

      Hey Paula! No, we didn't but I miss her! I was happy to discover that she sleeps at Don Eduardo's and also gets fed there. She's very happy and I'm glad she befriended us :)

    • @anamariagoytortua975
      @anamariagoytortua975 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      well as far as "fairly different" I don't think so, Canadian English is pretty much the same as American in terms of how it sounds, of course they have some British spellings and words that Americans usually do not understand like "loonie, "toonie" "tuck" among others ...also there are some varieties in the US like in the south, Boston or NYC but for the most part American English is pretty uniform and I'd say 90% same as Canadian...a fairly different accent would be British, Irish or Australian, now THAT is quiet different, I can't understand them sometimes :)

    Is Lulu a street dog? :(

    • @EileenAldis
      @EileenAldis  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Roberto! We thought she was at first but then when she 'introduced us' to Timothy Edwards he told us that she stayed at his place. He said she's very independent and 'has no owner' per se, however, she'd belonged to the woman who owned the coffee farm before him and he had sort of inherited Lulu when he bought the farm. She goes off all around town and the countryside and does her own thing but she goes to be fed and sleep at Timothy's place. I was happy to know that she's well taken care of :)
