@skogenburzum The whole album feels more relevant in today's world than it ever has. Best example is Securitron (Police State 2000), which should be Police State 2020. But this is what made metal badass. It was telling real stories, made "Sci-Fi" to be allowed to released.
Learning new songs, especially out of my comfort zone keeps my fire alive. Being able to play things you weren't able before makes you wanna play it now 😜
That's the first one that I thought of too. I also think that Black Sabbath's Heaven and Hell flows really well. Dream Theater's A Dramatic Turn of Events is pretty amazing too.

I'm really glad you addressed the "keeping the flame alive" issue, was at a lull yesterday. Keeping my head up, life's too short to make compromises for what you want to do! Rock on Brother!!
Been listening to a lot more albums lately! I'm hearing and feeling things I never have before!! There is something magical about your favorite songs that you can only experience when you listen through the context of listening to the whole album.
An album that I would recommend listening to as a whole that flows together as one cohesive piece would be Between the Buried and Me 'Colors' That album is amazing start to finish. Every time I play through that album I am taken on a musical journey through the first 6 tracks and then I get absolutely floored by Veridian and White Walls. My uncle always talks about what Pink Floyd's 'Dark Side of the Moon' was to him in the 70's. 'Colors' is my personal 'Dark Side of the Moon'
Favorite concept albums for me are Acts 1 through 5 by The Dear Hunter. Every song flows together so well, tone of motifs and reprises, and a full orchestra on Act 4&5 makes for a really special listening experience. I absolutely love that band and those albums.
Really agree with your take on a cohesive album. It's similar to the difference between a TV show that has a story arc through a season, rather than a TV show that each episode stands alone.
Just listened to bluesy mcbluesface. Your ability to play the style, no matter what the style, is really uncanny. Always excited to hear what's next from you! Keep it coming.
I started using the NYXL strings after watching a previous faq. They are very durable and stay in tune well. Great humbucker tones! They break in fairly quick and hold up no matter how many bends you throw at them.
Worth the cost not to be breaking the bottom E at the worst possible moment. They take a beating unlike other strings that cost the same when you change them twice as often.
Thanks for buying and using GHS . I have used them since the 80’s , BOOMERS in particular. It doesn’t hurt that they are made near me in Kalamazoo, Michigan, USA
Dude that does the Swolas from the laundry room, keep going brother cause you have great riffs.Alot of talent.44 is just a number but great music is ageless.Rock on and keep the dream alive.Much love as well to you Ola my friend (Jesus is my friend) now I have to go watch that, your hair is at that perfect length for it.🤘😜👍Have a great day,GodBless!!!

@@leighzimmer6949 Watch the video of his guitar tech. He says he sets the action super low. And when he plays there is lots of fret buzz; but when John plays, you don't hear any buzz because he plays really soft.
Stephen carpenter plays really soft too, he uses really light string gauge while he's tuning his guitars super low. You just can't pick hard when you're tuning to F# standard and using 11-69 strings ;)
Hey man! Ever considered to do a series that you review some small/upcoming metalbands? would be cool! We love your content man! Hälsningar från Finland!
Fav concept album, Fear Factory - Obsolete. It's like a soundtrack to a movie that doesn't exist but you can picture the scenes in your mind as the album plays. Some not-concept albums that I think really flow and have that cohesiveness to them, In Flames - Jester Race, Death - Symbolic, Carcass - Heartwork, and love it or hate it (love it!) KoRn's first album.
Solar guitars come with BlackSmith strings, and being that the one I bought is an "Artist series guitar" set-up as you would (Ola) I guess I just ass-u-med that is what YOU use! So I spent alot of money buying some in bulk! They're great strings, so I have no regrets! (I've had my Solar A.1 6 BOP neck through Artist series for over a year now, and have only changed them twice!! So good choice!) Regards: V⚡
That one guitar you have at home - it's because that's still the most beautiful Solar out there. Don't know why exactly, but there is something special about that model and that natural look with golden hardware. At least for me. And now when I know there is (at least one) with the neck-thru construction... I want it even more!
I really love the journey that the album format takes you on but I find myself not listening to particular albums because I don’t have the spare time to enjoy the whole album in one go.
Hey ola great work on starzinger, i am going to get a cd i promise but i am really trying to save up for my boost pedaL , so far i got my pre . And then i got to get speakers after that so after this boost pedal probably getting it. Thanks so much for a great listening experience that is music, and love your work with feared or if you have any other bands also. i got some guitars buttox, i need to get a solar next after my speakers then i shall probably send you some proto
The stuff about strings is so true. I might like a certain brand more at some point, but when gauges and wound type are to my liking, I just put whatever's lying around on the guitar and it's almost the same. Longevity etc. are points to consider but it's just not as big a deal as some are making it to be.
There are differences. If you have one guitar with active emgs and another with a high output passives the alloy your strings are made of will make a difference. Ernie ball strings sound way bettet then diadario strings with emgs.
Question - I'm having trouble getting good at guitar despite practicing regularly. How did you get to your current still level? Did you do exercises or just learned riffs? Any tips for improving?
Just keep playing, learn some theory maybe and yeah always good to learn a few scales and challenge yourself, speed and flow and phrasing can take years for some, just keep going and when you're not enjoying it maybe put it down and return to it later, hope this helps 🤘

The Fear Factory Obsolete was one of my favorite "Concept" Albums.

Operation: Mindcrime. In my book Queensryche's masterpiece stands heads and tails above any other concept album.

I was looking at purchasing a Solar, but Ola just told me that they're nothing special. Time to keep shopping around.
I’m in the same boat.
They are nice though if you’re in the market for an Evertune... probably the best deal for a brand new guitar.
Just because they’re nothing special doesn’t mean they are bad options
They are extremely special I own one and I’ve never looked back
You mentioned 2 of my all-time favourite albums today! Really made my day!
That was like an old school Ola video from back in the day. Awesome! Thank you.

Oh dang! Not only did my question make the video, but Ola got my name right! What a wonderful day!!!
