Amazing video, I don’t understand much about art but you make it democratic because you talk about human experience and feelings and I think that’s art is about

Peter Bruegel the elder is one of my favourite painters, I'm glad to see you discuss his works. I'm always amazed how much can be squeezed into those paintings. They are full of attention-grabbing details but somehow I've never found them overwhelming, just endlessly engrossing.
What do you think about Bruegel's Netherlandish Proverbs? I think it's one of the most complex ones and without that single point of focus, even as hidden as Icarus or the Holy Family in the paintings you discussed

I have made more videos about Bruegel than any other artists (I've removed a couple of them because I made them a long time ago and I'm embarrassed by the writing now). I love him as well, particularly the proverbs. Not only de-centers individual characters, but de-centers points of wisdom. Maybe that's a video for another time...

on the point of apathy, i think that healthy attachment IS healthy detachment, and i have to try to understand when and how to care AND when and how to give space. if i get one wrong i get them both wrong.
of course, christianity very unsubtly promotes a savior complex as a desirable mechanism of catharsis and i appreciate the thought and sincerity in the paintings and in the poem processing the inaccuracy of that.
