  • While law school taught us a lot, being practicing lawyers - and the lifestyle that comes along with it - involves so much more than what we learned as students. In this week's video, we want to share four of the things which law school didn't teach us, but which we think are important to know (and which have helped us on our own career journeys!).

    Thanks for the insights. I find the same is applicable for other education disciplines and is really the skill sets obtained through education as oppose to the specific subject matter itself. I am sure a lot of others will find your tips useful. Looking forward to your next video. Cheers!

    Can you talk a little bit about how a law firm is structured, like the different "ranks" within a firm, "of counsel", and the difference, if any, between British and American firms?

    If I had discovered this channel earlier, I wouldn't have been so stressed for searching an internship as a Year 1 law student...I know too little about this industry and I gain a lot from your videos. Thank you so much for sharing

    Thanks for the last 2 tips! I'm in my penultimate year as law undergraduate, but I'm not limited to pursuing legal profession. Healthy habits and exploration of alternative career are definitely my key considerations these days!

    As someone that is about to start their training contract, it would be great to know what led you guys to select which seat to specialise in post-qualification, eg litigation and corporate M&A. Love your videos!

    As a lawyer, do you also have to learn psychology? (I’m interested in psychology and am curious if I’m suitable to be a lawyer) Love your videos!

    • @EmandLloyd
      @EmandLloyd  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Not a prerequisite - but no harm in doing an undergrad in psychology and doing a JD if you're interested in Law!

    The law itself is relatively easy. If the law were so complex that people of reasonable intelligence could not grasp its requirements, it would be useless for the purpose for which it exists. It’s people who are (or can be) difficult.
