Spannende Musik, vertraute Klänge gemischt mit Neuem, irrsinnig feinen hohen Tönen und schwindelerregenden Herausforderungen an den Geiger. Herzlichen Dank fürs Hochladen und liebe Wochenendgrüsse.

I heard the third movement of this for the first time today, on WETA, my local classical music station. I was surprised by the high notes throughout the movement, especially the A7s.

I consider de Bériot as one of the greatest composers for the violin. This concerto is for me an example for the romance and a good start for the weekend again in home. Wish you also a fine weekend my dear friend!

I believe De Beriot wrote 10 violin concertos, none ever played today. Belgium composers, and there were lots of them, never really managed to break into the concert hall repertoire. One reason is their lack of "good themes". However, having said that, this like some of his others I'm familiar with, is well worth listening to.

As expected, there is only Henri Vieuxtan's master, and it is a concerto left by the violin virtuoso.
I have a complete collection of Vieuxtan's violin concertos, but I didn't know about this Charles-Auguste de Bériot violin concerto.
This song should have more opportunities to play, and if sibarit101 didn't upload it, I would have missed the opportunity to listen to it.
It's a very romantic piece, and the accompaniment of the orchestra is reminiscent of Paganini, so I think it's a wonderful violin concerto that can't be complained about.
By all means, I hope you can upload the 2nd and 5th as well.

Have you already uploaded Nos. 2,4,5,8 for Beriot's concerto?
I would like to search and find it.

I listened to all the uploaded concertos.
I especially liked No. 2 in B minor because it was romantic.

This is NOT a portrait of Charles de Beriot on the album cover! Rather, it is a portrait of his son, Charles-Wilfrid de Beriot. Did Phillippe Quint know and approve this? What a glaring mistake!!! 😂🤦🏻🎻

If the hypothesis behind his abandoned left hand pizzicato is really what depicted, it shows Bériot as a very humble person, besides a great virtuoso and an excellent composer.
I find his concertos equivalent to Paganini ones, with, on top, a better orchestration (Paganini orchestration skills was as extremely poor as Chopin one).
However Bériot style, more introvert, is completely different as Paganini'a one, regardless of pizzicato, and somehow more akin Viotti classical and rigorous structure (signaling admiration for elder master, although Bériot couldn't be his pupil).
However Bériot language appears daring more than what Viotti did. When I say "daring" I obviously take into account the fact Viotti predates Bériot. What I mean is that Viotti was certainly OFTEN an innovator for his time but Bériot is CONTINOUSLY innovating himself. That's why probably Spohr didn't entirely appreciate his music as too advanced for most people.

Thank you very much, Pietro Landri, for the favorable commentary on Beriot's music! I really like his concertos, and I was very happy that TH-cam allowed me to post again a concerto of his.
