How to hack Rigol DSA815 to infinite time licence / modification licence infinie

- In this video, i show how to hack (stop) the "free licence" countdown and keep your time left in safe place.
You make this harware change under your own responsibility.
Remember that once the device is open, you forget the manufacturer's warranty.
Not too much difficult to do, but need some practice, and good eyes !

thanks for the video, modified my rigol ,shorted pin 7 to 8, works fine, I had buy this analyser on may 19, 2021 firmware 1.19 time remaining 30h 39min 50 sec. thank you
you canot change the boot preset after modification, also the screen backlight and graticule cannot be stored, you have to adjust each time you power on device. So before doing the mod, check for your settings to be ok. Time and date are modifiable and stay programmed even after a power off.
@@gillesg7560 Probably add a tiny switch should be a good idea. Flip the switch, save, reflip the switch to turn off timer
I did it with software, there is absolutely no need for doing this.
You do not have to solder things, only software hack and it works a lifetime.

there is no software hack it only worked on the first generation models they got wise to it and a firware upgrade stopped it @@jesusabrahamO
I wonder if the reference waveform storage (i.e., for normalization) is stored in the FRAM?
have you checked if pin 7 is physically connected to ground ? If yes then you may overload the VDD if you short this pin without lifting pin 7 first
The chip is a MB85RC16 , a memory Fram, the pin 8 is VCC and the pin 7 is Write protect pin , when you connect the pin 7 and 8 together , the DSA can not write the new time in the memory

@@jlpicard3724 Yes, the FRAM stores other data like setups etc. That means that all the store functions are not working after the mod, this is a big disadvantage of this mod.

@@gillesg7560 I think you do not find it anymore but if you give me youre serial number of youre rigol DSA815A I can crack the code and I wil send you the 5 keys that you have to put into youre rigol and it wil be activated for lifetime.
