Somebody else suggested this and I want to second it. Check out the song Yah Mo Be There - a duet with Michael McDonald and James Ingram. It really highlights both of their vocals so well. One of my all time favorites.
You need to hear "Ya Mo B There" by James Ingram and Michael McDonald. Awesome! One of the best duos. "Heavenly Father, watchin' us fall We take from each other and give nothing at all Well, it's a doggone shame But never too late for change So, if your luck runs low Just reach out and call His name, His name".
That’s David Pack singing lead and hitting most of those high notes( he’s the lead singer for Ambrosia). He wrote the song for himself, Michael and James to do together. They were appreciatively called the holy trinity! Michael and David had worked in each other’s projects for years. And Michael and James, of course had also worked together. Musical perfection! David did an updated version of this with an intro … after James Ingram passed away. It’s on TH-cam..
David Pack wrote the song and sings lead on both verses. I can't get through this song without sobbing. And it's been that way since the song first came out DECADES ago.
Yes. R&B, no matter the color of the singers. True r&b always has those elements of blues and gospel. It has a classic steady downbeat that drives the song and the call and response between the lead singer and the backup singers. The call and response element found in classic R&B is the influence from the traditional black church gospel singing where a lead singer sings and there is a back and forth singing "conversation" with the choir and sometimes with the congregation, that echoes or repeats words or parts of the verse that gives it emphasis and more meaning. Another good example is...Gladys Knight and the Pips singing "Midnight Train to Georgia".
Told ya! It's gooh hun? That is Dauid Pack not Ambrosia singing lead throughout the song. Michael McDonald and James are adding the harmony during the chorus. This song is from Dauid Pack's solo album.
I was thinking the same thing! I'm glad you clarified that! Not taking away from the great Michael McDonald and James Ingram. All their voices are amazing!💖
James Ingram has a superlative voice that you cannot miss out on. Ambrosia is a wonderful group. You really need to hear James Ingram with Michael McDonald and the full extended version of the song Yah Mo Be There.
I believe David Pack/Ambrosia did the main lyrics, Michael McDonald and James I., did back up. Their voices are blended so beautifully, it moves you in ways that are inexplicable😊
Hi Asia and BJ, you guys are one of my favorite youtuber's that I love to see you react to songs that had made an impact in my life. Ambrosia is one of those bands that bring back good memories. I am glad somebody suggested this song. Blessings to you both and keep up reacting.
This was a beautiful collaboration of wonderfully talented artists. Enjoyed your reaction and comments too! And as others have mentioned, you should react to the James Ingram and Michael McDonald song, Yah Mo Be There. Also James Ingram has a deep catalog of music you should check out. Songs like I Don't Have the Heart, Just Once, and How Do You Keep the Music Playing. Also should react to The Secret Garden produced by Quincy Jones. It features James Ingram, Barry White, El Debarge and Al B Sure. You will absolutely love it!
I always wish that David had arranged the tune so that Michael & James would each take a verse… but David sings all the lead parts, and Michael does that bridge w/David… but James is only heard on the chorus parts, and one of the scat parts at the end. These guys had been friends for years, until James’ passing.
I second all the recommendations below for Michael and James duet, and even more, their version of "Maria" from the Westside Story soundtrack - compliments of Quincy Jones productions. Who else could blow collaborations out of the water?! 😉🔥
This was the "Suck Up" song that covered everything from behind late to "Hey, you feel lucky, cause you sure feel lucky to me" Followed by that kid on her neck just below the ear that gives shivers Remember, I've got 6 kids
It wasnt Ambrosia on this song. This was originally recorded for David Pack's 1985 solo album 'Anywhere You Go'. This version was remixed for Ambrosia's 1997 Greatest Hits. Now go listen to Ambrosia's 'Angola' and 'Cryin In The Rain'.
Hey guys what's up? My two favorite peeps 😀 around the same time James Ingram and Michael McDonald sing backup for some of their favorite singers. I don't know what year but check out Brenda Russell... Piano in the dark at some jazz festival, with Michael and James singing backup. Amazing 😍. Big love forever and always 💕. Still waiting on my invite to watch a movie with you??? I'm going to give up in about 20 years... LoL 😆💕
Been there and there's no real end game except accepting that we love each other but for whatever reason it wasn't meant to be. For some there might be a 2nd chance or even a 3rd but sometimes it's more hurtful to try and try and get nowhere than it is to walk away. You grow, you learn and you eventually move on instead of causing/enduring the pain.
Ashia & BJ react to James Ingram How Do You Keep The Music Playing (the live version). It is one of the deepest R&B Ballad performances of all time. You will get chills with how deep it is. Here is the link...th-cam.com/video/GV_PY5A11Bg/w-d-xo.html
Do I know this well.My ex-husband was always there for me.My husband was dying. We were at a party.I danced with my ex husband and said I will really need you and the reason why.He held me like he always did and I'm here baby. .Always...we were there for each other.Did not let go...Yes we hung in there.. children and all.Always family.Know rock stars now for 70 years...Still live them.Michael I've known for 30 years..part of On My Own...Love forever. A Love Of Your Own by the Average White Band. It is the definition of Quiet Storm and/or Blue Eye Soul. Lots of babies made to that song. I’m not exaggerating.
Somebody else suggested this and I want to second it. Check out the song Yah Mo Be There - a duet with Michael McDonald and James Ingram. It really highlights both of their vocals so well. One of my all time favorites.
David Pack of Ambrosia singing lead with Michael McDonald and James Ingram singing back up.
You can't get much better than this.

One of the best duets
David Pack, James Ingram, AND Michael McDonald. Each a legend. All time classic.

You had me at James Ingram. 🥰🎤
But seriously, Michael Macdonald and Ambrosia... it's a melodic symphony!
Legendary vocals of Blue-eyed Soul!!! Beautiful!!!
That song just soothes the soul. Excellent!!
David Pack wrote the song and sings lead on both verses.
I can't get through this song without sobbing.
And it's been that way since the song first came out DECADES ago.
As a child of the 80's how did I not hear this before? I must say it was pure delight to get to experience a *_new_* song from Ambrosia
OMG I haven't heard this song in forever. Love it. ❤️

Vocals don't get much if any better than this! 😊 The joy of sax to boot!
This song is from David Packs solo album, his first solo album away from Ambrosia..I have always loved this song from these 3 talented artists!
One song I would like you to react to from James Ingram is. "Just Once". I really think you would love that song.
I'm so glad you discovered this hidden gem. Next, I suggest "Yah Mo B There" by James with Michael McDonald.
can't believe I've never heard this. 🔥
I'd never heard this. Great collaboration. Beautiful
Please give DAVID PACK credit for these superb vocals..........Ambrosia's lead singer!!!!
And writing!!! He wrote this and many others!!!
Never knew this existed. Three amazing voices.
Always loved this song.
Those are 70s folks. Listening, I just realized how much 90s RnB must've been influenced by this. Really similar flow.
The Amazing Ambrosia, the Soulful vocals of James Ingram, and Michael McDonald on backup, what more could you ask for.
It isn't "Ambrosia' - it is David Pack.
Whatever! Hope your arms are long enough to give yourself a pat on the back .
Y'all, David Pack singing lead, with Michael & James singing background :) Timeless!

Holding on, was their song I had on repeat after a breakup. lol ❤
Ridiculous talent in that joint.
That's David Pack former lead vocalist of Ambrosia. You should check out Ambrosia's Classic "Your The Only Woman".
What a great power trio singing an awesome song thanks for reacting to this!
Such textured beauty and brilliance .
What a groove ...

Ahhh. The MUSICAL GOLD OF THE 80s! Proud Gen X kid here!!! 🎶❤️🤘
I absolutely love hearing your voice sing. It’s so soothing to me!
Oh thank you!
When David back was leading Ambrosia it was magic!
He wasn't the leader.
@@Coowallsky He was the lead singer and they were not nearly as good without him!
@@joelliebler5690 He s-lit leads with Joe Puerta. How were “they” not nearly as good without him?
Donny Hathaway, James Ingram, Micheal McDonald', Bobby Caldwell and Micheal Sembello are my favorite Male Vocalist's
These are Giants collaborating right here Ambrosia, Michael Macdonald and James Ingram Soul music at a height

Excellent recommendation! So many people are not familiar with that soundtrack and it is completely off the charts outstanding. 👍

You should listen to "Echoes: Live in Pompeii - Part 1" by Pink Floyd. It is rock with some funk/soul.
Jeffrey Osbourne - You Should Be Mine (The Woo Woo Song) from 1986
Blue eyed soul

This is not as good as the original version done on David Pack's first solo LP.
Quincy JONES, THE SECRET GARDEN. THIS IS VERY SEXUAL.
This is not Ambrosia..this is David Pack.. Micheal McDonald and James Ingram
