I didn't see anything within 6 light-years of the killer move. I suspected a queen sac, but I had no idea how to follow up... and Qxg6 didn't even cross my mind. Cool game!
Fun fact, the chess game played towards the end of the second Sherlock Holmes was modeled after the discovered check mate variation of this game, except the winner (Sherlock) played black.
At 4:16 after pawn takes I would play horse to f6 check and he would have to take and white takes the queen with rook. It would be even but white would still have the queen and rook on the line and i guess positional advantage. I might be wrong tho...
At 4:30 when e5 is played, why did he not capture the knight on c5 with bishop? Pawn cannot retake because of knight f6 check winning the queen. This variation exchanges rook and a piece for the queen. I would say this is better than wining a pawn no? or am I missing something? :)
On move where Larsen pushes e5, Mato proposes playing bishop takes knight on c5, black pawn takes, queen takes. But what about instead of king takes, knight on d5 f6 check! Followed by rook on d1 takes queen. The knight must be taken or the black king moved because of check.
Before I saw his video recording a game, I thought of 'Mato" as a thin, gaunt, dark figure in a trench coat, three days of beard, hunched over a chess board nervously drinking coffee and chain smoking cigarettes. What did I actually find? A Hobbit!
One of the most complex games I have seen yet. Very difficult continuation after the killer move. Great game, thank you Mato.
Really Great Mato!! You do a great job.
again, another master piece, thanks Mato

I saw it. But that's because I'm secretly Magnus Carlsen's mentor.

A variation of this game was used in the climax of the movie Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows :D
At 4:17
Isn't it possible to play Nf6+, winning the queen?
It is possible: 20.Bxc5 dxc5 21.Nf6+ Bxf6 22.Rxd8 Raxd8 23.Qe2 Be5 and whute has a small advantage..
Larsen was focused on black king
Did not see that coming...
Such beauty.

At 4:17 why not nf6+ winning the queen by a discovered attack by the rook instead of Qxc5?

Mato?
Please don't die ever! You are a gift to humanity ♥️♥️♥️🌸👻
At 7:34. How about Be3 discovered check winning the queen?
¡¡¡Thanks for your videos, greetings from Argentina!!!.
Checkmate is hanging in the next move. Winning the queen means that you have to play endgame.
I love these kind of videos that show that Petrosian is not indeed unbeatable

astonishing move qxg6.
At 4:18 white can play Nf6+
Well done!
Show more Tal videos plz
then fischer games
i orgastically loved that queen sac, i'm just missing some new Tal, Fischer (and Polgar!) games
Orionthog
Good taste
So many king hunts!
White played a move and black resigned
why can't king go to h8 at 7:07 ?
Because if the king moves to h8, he would be mated in 2 moves: Kh8, Rh3+ Bh6, Rxh6#
UndeadRabbit Kh8, Rh3+ Bh6, Rxh6 then why not Kg7??
I wonder if Larsen planned it or discovered that brilliant move after getting the Queen crammed unintentionally.
Is this the only successful queen sacrifice against a ruling World champion? I think so
very complicated game combinations of great players
Petrosian was in a bind.
Found the Queen move. Don't think I would have if not prompted to look for a 'killer move'.
this killer move is impossible to see!
where can i get your book Mato dude?
www.chessschool.com.au/king_hunt_18.html
i guess Moriarty capturing queen or not it doesn't rly matter still losing
like if u got what i mean

accelerated dragon was somehow slowed down...
I always loved when Larsen beat the Soviets. But a rare occurrence indeed lol.
I did see it. But it was only because you told me thats why.
Painful to watch Petrosian lose.
First after Mato! Asparagus!
What a showoff. Q-h7ch! would have forced win immediately! After KxQ, white plays r-h3ch and the only way out of check is b-h6. rxbchm.
it takes a little longer actually ... k-g8 is possible. It isn't a forced win.
Josh Myer yes qxpg6 is much better
absurd
