As a S2000 driver, I have a few takes on the reasons: 1. I can see why but I just see it as 2 personalities, you have to commit to it to bring out the full ability and I really like that. You can lower VTEC and tune for it to get that midrange back but personally, I don't mind it too much. 2. That twitchiness all has to do with suspension tuning. The snap oversteer is actually quite beneficial in autocross and on back roads I was able to feel it out and control it. When you modify the suspension to that degree as required for your GT1 kit, I figure you probably upset the balance in a few ways so maybe some more research and a bump steer kit would have helped a lot. I plan on doing that since I'm taking my S2000 to high speed circuits and I could use the stability 3. I think these kinds of widebody kits are probably best for track use, not really as a daily driver but I figure an air cup suspension set would have helped with the clearance! Anyways, thank you for the video! I'm considering getting a GT1 kit for my S2000 in the future!
Thanks for your comment dude! Thanks for watching, to you're points: (1) I love the two personality vibe (see my video on the Boxster S, as I pick up on this a bunch). But for me, the mid range is still a disappointment in the F20 which I didn't find on the K20. (2) So you're probably right. The cars was geo set up on the coilovers, but I suspect "fitment" was priorities over trackability! Bump steer kits might help, but these kit I find generally make the steering inputs more delicate (I have aftermarket bump kits and billet uprights on my VX220 currently). But I agree with you here. (3) Cheers to that! Thanks again for watching and commenting!
Great video, if only you could get your hands on the ap2 version. Huge improvements on low end torque and stability when stepping out, its a blast to drive.
clickd on this cause I always wanted to build out an amuse S, had the kit but ended up selling it cause I sold the ol' ap2 F24 build I had intended it for. I feel like the problem with this kit Is once you put it on, your builds finished and you eventually sell it. as I've almost bought a few of them for sale on the used market over the yrs. Im in a different boat as you though the S2k is my favorite car i've owned by far. I had like 10 cars in between selling my first one from nsx,sti,m3's etc and everytime I still wanted to get back into an s2k, im on my 4th s2k now lol(my 2 buddies who have 997's also just bought another one too as they missed them). Never selling again made that mistake haha. The twitchiness is something you get used to controlling, but I can't track them.(im not confident enough in my track skills lol) my friends who track their S2k's oversteer on basically every corner and thats just sort of how you drive them fast. i've never really felt the power was a big issue, its part of the fun/what makes it a honda.
Cheers for your comment. As I say, would love to give it another go turbo or supercharged. Honda's are good fun, but arguably I might find myself going back to 911 (perhaps became I'm becoming right old these days!) 😂
Absolutely, although even the genuine fibre glass kits will require some tweak. If it can be done, 100% ABS plastic kits. Fit much better as so much stronger!
Thanks - and its a very good point. Although that being said, I have a feeling the actual kits (even back then) was like £10k and it too was fibreglass.
nice production well done. I''ve owned both boxster and s2k. the honda has aged much better and is much more exciting in most aspects than the porsche and market prices seem to reflect this. 9k redline and that manual just too good. still not loving the 996 headlights! would be interesting to see your reaction if your drove them again side by side..
Thanks for your comment Rafiq - that’s a super interesting point you raise about, if it were side by side now. Strong possibility that maybe it would be different, and I’d also say the Boxster S I had at the time was super good example, where as the s2000, maybe less so. As a contra to that, I’ve also become older and boring too 😂
That third wall will, very soon, be broken for sure when they realise the truth...... Jeff Bezos' finest £20 "boom" mic later. You're entirely right - every time I write "Honda" I think back to that "Civic can never lose" meme from 2004.

Hi, question- do you know what wheels these are on the build and what specs they are, they look super cool
Hi Andy - stretching my memory here but I think they are Rota Grids?
I have 18X10.5 +15 on my Amuse kit

Cheers Tony, although controversially, this was an AP2 😅
@@AK88onCars ahh yes, I should’ve said the US version with the F22. Thats the one you would have enjoyed the most :).
@@TonyCalo ah - you guys get the bigger engine and more torque versions of all Japanese cars. Very envious!
Thanks for sharing this story. Keep them coming.
Thanks mate 👍

@@AK88onCars haha yeah S2000 as the only car is a different ball game tho. I could never do it lol.
Great video mate keep em coming 👍
Thanks mate! Some of the pictures within that video you took!
Brings back memories mate, the best 👌
I guess it pays to go with authentic parts over replicas! The money saved is often spent trying to make the replicas fit correctly.

Great video, but I don't think I would ever call it an "Amuse Build" if we aren't even certain the kit was Amuse. 💔

Mate, your sound quality and production is spot on. It almost seems like you know what you're doing.
Also hondas sound awful. You forgot that bit.
