  • After a 2nd Swarm, I had to do something drastic to boost this hive.

Great job Mr Tim. I hate the battery died but everything else was great. Catch you next time. I received the package on Monday. It's resting on it's shelf awaiting other honey samples. May you be blessed and prosper.

I love my resource hive also. I let them draw out frames so I feed them slowly so they draw out the comb. That in itself is worth having a resource hive. Then, like you I've stolen frames of brood which could save another hive if the queen doesn't get mated and come back.
That humidity you have is crazy. When our dewpoints in MN get into the upper 60's we think it's bad. LOL You had 81. This morning it was 56 F sunny skies with a light wind and low humidity. Will change next week.

I think Resource Hives are way under used. Not enough people getting the word out on their usefulness.

Did you just merge the 2 hives without isolating the Queen 1st ?

@@charleneshinsky1248 - Sure did. Was just in there & she's has since started laying on some of the unused frames. The hive is looking really good in just a week's time.

@@swohiobees I've dropped two laying queens in two different queenless hives and both were accepted and are doing fine. I had the queen in a cage and watched to see if the new hive was going to act aggressive but they just started feeding her so I just dropped her in. Not sure if that always works???

New keeper here, setting up resource hive. If your queen less do you need to worry about the hive accepting a new queen when you merge like that?

Great question. I personally have had really good luck directly adding a queen like this. However, A paper merge (combine) would be the proper way to do it. I've got a couple videos on it. Try: studio.th-cam.com/users/videoT8IXoNMiDAc/edit
