As a person running a business in construction, design and creative industry sometime I lost my way due to competition and work pressure make me think to change on another field. Alhamudillah this documentary make me turn back to what i was started before. All the words and wisdom sharing by this great men shifting my soul and spirit the reason we are here as human then we will turn back to the creator, as he mention ; "we die and our buildings die with us. But our monuments, our sacred buildings, our mosques, no...they last, because the spirit does not die."

As a Muslim who’s starting her first year in architecture school this fall, I am taken away by the way Abdel- Wahed is able to communicate his thoughts in such a manner that ties the spiritual with the physical/material nature of buildings. This video has completely transformed the way I perceive architecture and the purpose that I will bring to architecture. I’ve never heard an architect speak in this way and truly find the most meaningful ways to connect Allah the ONE creator to the world of man that he’s blessed us to create. I will forever be grateful for watching this video and it believe that with the grace of Allah, the knowledge in this video will shape me into not only a better architect but a better Muslim.
Yes, this gentleman is a pure treasure. I think you should check the work of Dr Ibrahim Karim too. He is another Egyptian architect (if you aren't already familiar with his take on architecture). I love when someone with passion for something talks about it, you can tell, he's not about the superficial aspect, he keeps the integrity of Islamic architecture but in a very minimalistic & pure way, that's what I love most about his work, nothing is added to impress, just the right amount to serve a purpose. It was a very nice documentary thank you.

As a Nubian myself, I find myself and my heritage, which has been silenced by many powers and labeled as inferior for so long, slowly being reintroduced into the “modern world” as eco/green/environmentally friendly which is nonetheless better for everyone and makes me happy and gives me some sense of pride. I found this video very therapeutic!

There's never truer words said, "Beauty will come naturally if there is harmony." If we look at the architecture around us, its like prison just with different configurations. There is no beauty in it. It is dead. A concrete jungle that will imprisoned our minds, heart, and soul. This is the modern human legacy at its madness.

I agree with everything said, however in terms of identity. These types of buildings are not exclusively tied to the Islamic community. It is influence of a variety of cultures…the ottomans, the Persians, the nomadic tribes, etc. A mix of practically, functions and lifestyle, community and art.
