It really is disappointing how much the meeting of Kushina (Naruto's mother) was underplayed, for namely one aspect; the whole "y'know" thing. In the original japanese, naruto's catchphrase was "dattebayo" which he used constantly throughout the show, probably more so than the english dub's "believe it". Because he says it so often it's kinda second nature to him, and when Kushina got mad and hit naruto she ended her sentence with "dattebane", effectively the feminine version of he saying. It really stuck out to him that she said it, because it's technically not even a real phrase and is exclusively the kind of saying he says. So it was something he inherited from her and served as further proof she really was his mother.
It's hard for me to rewatch this episode man cuz every time I see this, I literally put myself in naruto's shoes... the eeriness of lonesome and no sense of parental love, the writing is spot on, it's everything I would be saying if I was him. This has to be one of the most heartwarming scenes of all time, along with the Minato father-son talk.

Naruto never specifically said he wanted to meet his mother… just that he wanted to be acknowledged by those around him… but his reaction to meeting her didn’t feel like it came out of nowhere.
