Mark Carney announces bid for Liberal leadership in Edmonton - January 16, 2025

In Edmonton, former Bank of Canada Governor Mark Carney announces his bid to run for the leadership of the Liberal party. The party is set to elect its new leader on March 9, 2025. Following his announcement Carney takes questions from reporters on whether he is in favour of abolishing the consumer price on carbon. He also comments on the response to U.S. tariff threats and on Alberta Premier Danielle Smith’s opposition to restricting energy exports from her province as a potential retaliatory measure.
