    thank you for this explanation. I didn't know about doing it in the 3rd person so that will be helpful (and also very challenging because I thrive on the one on one connection with the speaker) for my upcoming competition

      This was tough for me as well at first; however, for the contest itself, it's best to be in 3rd person. What's most important is not to bounce back and forth between 1st and 3rd person.

    I was just going into evaluating Level 5 Presentation Mastery speech and this was such a helpful video. I especially like the structure and tip that to stay in third person while evaluating. great job and thank you for doing this.

    I think the conclusion should not be so generic as you described. "In conclusion ..." then you remind the audience of the strengths and weaknesses of John's speech.

    Yes. I'm preparing for my first contest, and it is for Speech Evaluation, I am uncomfortable with giving evaluations or critically reviewing someone else's efforts to succeed.

    Thanks for the Video, very helpful. Are the club members supposed to inform new bees on this? Seems like to be thrown into the water not knowing what was to be expected.

      In my experience, veteran club members will often help out newbies by informing them how speech contest and evaluation contest judging criteria works. But it depends on the club and club members.

      Good question! I'd say, no. Simply mentioning the things the person did well (for example: Body Language, Vocal Variety, etc) and then the things they need to improve upon is sufficient! Good luck!

      Hey Chris! Thanks for the comment. Unfortunately, they weren't recorded at the time; however, this is a good idea to record a future evaluation at my club. Right now we're still doing virtual meetings, but when we get back to in-person I might record one and then break down the method I used after.
