      Yes I appreciate that very much if it wasn't for them I would not know what this is and would probably still think it was basically saddle seat now I think whenever someone says that Big lick is like saddleseat I want to punch him in the face because it's very offensive I used to think it was like that'll see not abusive and a completely innocent sport thanks to everybody replying to my old comments I now know what it is I deleted those old comments I do not think it is non-abusive anymore I think it is the most abusive sports

    This is pure abuse. No animal should be treated this way . I believe the animal should be taken away from them there is so many better ways to train a horse they are really smart animals . I got a professional trainer out to help me with my two horses on barrel racing I wanted to learn it with my horses but they have never done it . I didn’t use a crop or spurs . It takes time to train people and animals things slow and Steady wins the race . I taught my Qaurter horse and Off the track throughbreed to barrel race without pain and consequences that animals don’t deserve . You made a great video it is extremely sad to see these poor horses and theses abusive owners . Jesus does not want us to treat animals or people this way they are in the wrong . Thank you so much for the video. ❤️

    I have been involved with horses for 18 years and have ridden some TWH, never in my life would I ever subject a horse to something like this "discipline". Big Lick is disgusting, I get angry just seeing videos or posts about this "discipline"...The riders can't ride to save their lives and most of them are way too big to be on those horses. I completely agree with you Deanna, regarding 2 year olds, they should not be doing anything like this at that age. Their legs are nowhere near developed enough for this nor is the rest of their body. I have a now 3 year old Quarter Horse that didn't start to get ridden until he was close to 3 because I didn't want him ending up injured and lame for the rest of his life. I don't even ride him incredibly hard now because he's still growing. I ride for pleasure, not competition, I have only done a handful of shows, but that was with mature lesson horses. I might compete my current horse, but that is a big maybe because I am not a big fan of the show scene. Big Lick trainers and riders only care about the ribbons and money, they don't care about the horses as they make very clear by the abuse they subject them to. I love TWH, they are such sweet souls, they don't deserve this type of treatment. I hope we can end this horrendous abuse for their sake.

      I agree with you. Anyone who abuses a horse in this manner should have their horses taken away. Same with dogs! And cats! They don’t deserve the abuse for all they do for us. Hey have emotions, they feel pain, they know what love is. The dog i have now, while he is old, is my dearest friend. He saved me from breaking my neck by jumping in front of me and stopping me from falling down a flight of stairs by jumping in front of me. He wasn’t trained to do it, but he saw me start to fall and did it on his own. He literally jumped in front of me, and up into my to push me back from falling. I love him to the moon and back, he is better than most of my relatives!

    There's a fellow by the name of Billy Go Boy who is on the front lines for fighting this abuse. (I urge you to like his channel) He goes to every show and is working to ban this permanently. All of this is absolutely not okay! Like you said it takes no skill, no training, everything about it is rushed, messy, they cut so many corners! And for what? A pay check? I just don't see how people can even think of abusing any sort of creature. Heck I step on a puppy's tail and I feel like the worst human being in the world! We need to stop this! Just like with horses you apply pressure to get a response, well it is time to push and push and push this discipline until they give. And though there will always be the people in their back yards doing this, the least we can do is make the whole competition part not exist anymore. #endbiglick

    The very best dressage horse and rider combo presents an athletic balanced dance between human and equine partners. A nuanced ballet of athleticism and communication. Does everyone aim for this or meet it if they do aim for this? No. But... The highest goal in the Big Lick class is to create the greatest expression of agony possible. He is referred to as a 'Trump enabler', he is a career politician who is getting kick backs from the Big Lick fraternity. This bill was stopped when Trump took power. If he is reinstated this will sit on McConnell's desk forever. I know Republicans are passionate, but if the Democrats get in there should be a fair chance this will be stopped. America needs to get their equine activists active. How can you own a horse and not want to stop this ? How can an ordinary human being think this is OK? BL'ers are united and psychotic. Hi Asia, I'm in Australia and we also don't really believe this sort of torture happens to horses in this day and age. Unfortunately, because of the graphic nature of any videos, people tend not to want to watch as it is too disturbing and the general consensus is, it's in America, what can we do from here? PLEASE spread the word all through Asian horse communities. Personally I think America needs to be held accountable for allowing this torture to happen for so long simply because the Southern States yearn for their 'tradition' of owning slaves and riding through their plantations on Tennessee Walking Horses, whistling 'Dixie' and flying the Confederate flag.

    And thank you for helping fight horse abuse for profit. I have met some pretty abusive people, and many that abused animals. There are better things than harming an animal. I have seen a horse “perform” the big lick, when i was 15. I am now 58 and have been against it ever since. I also rode a walking horse that was never trained as a “big lick” horse. He was beautiful, his gaits were natural, and he was the sweetest and most adorable STALLION i have met other than an Arabian breeding stud that i rode through a pasture full of mares in season. That Arab was so attentive to me, ignoring his mares, that it was a wonder. Once i got off him and took his halter off he went to the mares, but as soon as i called him he came, put his head in the halter and let me mount to go back to that barn. Then I was allowed to remove the halter and give him treats. All the mares came up for theirs and all were well behaved. None of them acted like they had ever been harmed in any way, and all seemed highly intelligent.

    Crazy horse people make the tiger king look like a reasonable person.
    I recently heard about a horse that was “rescued”, but didn’t know how to pick up his feet.
    They would tie his leg up overnight. To teach him a lesson, I guess...
    I love the willingness, of the dressage video. A calm, happy tail. He looks like he loves every minute of being in that ring.
    It’s in the expression, in the poetry, effortless grace, and fluidity of his movement.
    The juxtaposition of the video on the right, of how mishandled, and straight up tortured those horses are. This is crippling them for life.
    You are 100% correct to keep bringing this to attention.

  • @JackOllie4
    @JackOllie4 4 ปีที่แล้ว +21

    How utterly, preposterously ridiculous to compare this atrocity to grand prix dressage horses.
    In addition to all the cruelties you mentioned, according to videos I've seen, they also train the horses to not flinch from the pain of pre-show inspection of their sored pasterns... by hitting them. They get hit when they flinch, so the horse has to figure out that the only correct answer to pain in their pasterns when an inspector examines them is to remain motionless.
    It may be that we have to wait for the old people of this "sport" to just die off and go away ... and that the youth in this sport have just grown up with this and see nothing wrong ... but make no mistake ... many of these people are very deliberately full-on gaslighting people ... telling them that what they see is not what's really happening. It is DELIBERATE. These people know how to play this game VERY WELL, and those of us watching are flailing in how aghast we are. Believe me, they love it. Gleefully gaslighting outraged people is another facet of this. Don't doubt it for a minute.

Would also like to mention that the Canadian Registry of the Tennessee Walking Horse says that big lick shows are not offered in Canada, only horses that are flat shod or barefoot show. If they truly compare themself to dressage riders, there is something wrong with them. I have never seen such horrible posture and position on a horse. Look at the riders wrists at 2:56. The man's wrists are bent and is holding the reigns so tightly. Not only is it painful to watch these horses being abused by such horrible tactics, but these riders DON'T KNOW HOW TO RIDE!!!!! There's a video on youtube of Isabelle Werth (who won pretty much everything there is to win in dressage, but I don't like her since she has openly supported hyperflexion and her horses always seem to have trouble carrying themselves and the hind legs don't move properly, so I don't think she's the best example of a grand prix rider - we have better riders with better horsemanship here, but she wins the ribbons, it's nuts).
    Either way, she was riding one of her, at that time I believe fairly recently, retired grand prix horses. No saddle, no spurs, no stick, no bridle, no bit - just a halter and a rope knotted onto it to act as reins. She rode all or at least some of the classic lectures of a grand prix with that horse in that minimal set up.
    You really don't need anything for dressage, western or even show jumping. You could do it all in just a halter.
    Big lick is just a sorry excuse to abuse horses.

But throughout the entire high-class horse industry - be it showjumping, dressage, reining, racing - if extreme performance is required, extreme measures are taken. You just do not see them that often. Just look at the warm-up areas, and you will see things which seem not quite right. You always have to keep your eyes open, no matter which style the horse is ridden or driven in. If loads of money are involved, conscience always goes south. Just throwing in one name - Totilas. It gets worse because when the horse can no longer perform to their standards, they sell them at auctions where they potentially go into the slaughter pipeline. Even though the owners, etc. claim they don't sore the horses, you can see the scars in the pasterns. The reason the color of the legs are different is because of the materials they use to cover the scars, and make the coronas and pasterns look unscarred during USDA inspection.

    • @ariellewilson730
      @ariellewilson730 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      People who support this say that the different color on their pasterns is dirt or mud. I'm like, "How could it be dirt or mud before they enter into the arena?" I don't get it, unless the horses are galloping on dirt or mud out in a pasture, but these Tennessee Walking Horses are in stalls 24/7, and having them in there for that long isn't healthy for them. There are exceptions for putting horses in stalls, like feeding them, riding lessons - during my riding lessons, something I want to get back to, the lesson horses will be in their, and after each lesson I did, they'll be outside - quarantine, and some people put them in their stalls for bed, then let them out the next day, yet, again, 24/7 is highly unnecessary.

      Hi Brigitte, thank you from Australia. I agree with everything you say and that would happen here if anyone so injured their horse in the name of competition. However, why doesn't America also see this? It is wonderful Deanna and folk like her are taking a stand, however why aren't the Animal Activists? The general public? The overall equine community of America? In Australia our activists almost bought our racing industry to a halt last year, it's our third largest industry. They became aware of the 'wastage', the statistics for failed racehorses being slaughtered for European tables. They also exposed trainers using drugs and cruel training methods. Those trainers were stripped of their licenses, some with a life time ban and jailed. This is a huge industry worth billions. Why can't America shut down a small, festering den of cruelty? It has to be political. Mike McConnell is a career politician. The P.A.S.T. act has sat on his deck without being brought to the Senate. Why? Because Obama actioned it, Trump illegally stopped it and it's all now about winning this election. Anyone who cares about horses should not vote Republican. Unfortunately responses to that argument are 'Democrats murder babies'...Yes, America, land of the free?

      @@DeannaThompsonCorby but the world changes. People are being made aware of what is going on by people who care. Western Europe is very animal friendly. It is against the law to hurt an animal without a very good reason. This is also the reason why our horses don't get branded anymore for the last 2 years. Just like you can't keep a dog tied on a chain or just have them live their lives in a kennel. Eastern Europe is a total different story. Even though they need to fallow the law. Most of the times they don't. They are extremely cruel to any type of animal.
      The more people are made aware of what is going on, the faster it will change.

To date I have rescued 11 horses and 3 donkeys, two horses have stayed here with me permanently and I have found good homes for the others, often with other English people.
