    I might be wrong, but I believe that you are always supposed to put the embossing folder in with the closed/seam end first to prevent the seam from cracking.

    • @lisasstampstudio
      @lisasstampstudio  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Cass thanks for watching!! I have been told both ways for the embossing folders. I have always put the open end first.

    • @caseyslove
      @caseyslove 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Cass J I agree with you as I feel putting the opened ends of the embossing folder could slightly shift one layer and cause damage or poor embossing over time.

    Lisa, I love your videos! The question I have is what is the measurement of the larger cut and emboss machine in a closed position? I have a customer who has a limited storage area and got rid of the old one because it took too much space. Thanks in advance!

    • @lisasstampstudio
      @lisasstampstudio  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It measures approximately 10 x 6 1/2 without the handle that would add it to about 14 x 6 1/2. very compact!! Hope this helps!

    I am on the fence about buying the new SU cut and emboss machine as I have Big Shot that serves me well. What is the difference that makes this one so much better and also can I use my magnetic plate from my Big Shot on the new machine? Your video was very good!

    • @lisasstampstudio
      @lisasstampstudio  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Fran happy to have you visit this video!! I can tell you this is an awesome machine. It is much lighter than the Big Shot, runs smoother and is more compact. You can use you plates from your machine, although it is not advised to do so. I hope this has helped you!! Thank you!!

    • @graceforever12
      @graceforever12 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for your response. Can you use the cutting plates from the Big Shot?

  • @Bigmist8k
    @Bigmist8k 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I think all machines have a patent design which prevents other companies from blatantly duplicating your product without your consent. Question for you. I’m (not sure) guessing that this is the Platinum die-cutting machine licensed/designed especially for Stampin Up the same as the Big Shot was licensed/ designed for Stampin Up. That being said, will the Platinum parts (plated, base, magnetic plate, etc.) work with this machine? Great demonstration! I always look forward to your videos.

    • @rdecook651
      @rdecook651 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I thought Big Shot already has a machine out like this, too. I'm pretty sure they do.

    • @Bigmist8k
      @Bigmist8k 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      They do. I believe it’s called the fold-away. Doesn’t take up so much room on your desk.

    • @user-mv9tt4st9k
      @user-mv9tt4st9k 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have the Spellbinders Platinum 6 (6" platform) and it folds up to a compact size. This SU machine looks very much like the Platinum, though I like how the Platinum carry handle folds into the machine.

    • @Bigmist8k
      @Bigmist8k 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I was hoping that they were the same machine (Spellbinders Platinum and the Cut n Emboss) because that would mean that the cutting plates are the same. I was concerned because in the video she said that Stampin Up does not recommend that you use products from another company in this machine. So if the cutting plates are not the same, that means I’m always forced to order them. Not that I mind ordering products but sometimes you just want to be fiscally sound with your money and cut out the middle man, shipping costs, wait times, etc. and just hop in your car and pick up consumables like this from Michael’s or JoAnns. So that those $11 plates don’t end up costing $15.

    • @lisasstampstudio
      @lisasstampstudio  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for watching Cass!! Yes, you can use the plates from your previous machine.

    I have a question though ... you put your folder in "upside down" ... ie: open end in first and you mentioned that, but not the WHY.

    How do you stop your thin bords from curving into a c like shape??

    • @user-mv9tt4st9k

      Flip them over to the opposite side when they bow to re-flatten them as they run through the machine.

      Brodie thanks for stopping by to watch!! I flip my plates back and forth, and side to side to help prevent the bowing. I have had better results with this machine!!

    Can I use my sizzix clear plates in it?

    • @user-mv9tt4st9k
      @user-mv9tt4st9k 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have read that Sizzix plates are interchangeable with Spellbinders plates, though it is not recommended. There are also "generic" cutting plates (clear ones) that are offered on Amazon. The manufacturers' plates are not very expensive, I would think SU sells replacements

      Edith, yes your clear plates will work. Stampin' Up! does sell replacement plates as well! Thanks for watching!!

      Clarissa thank you so much for visiting this video!! I use this Cut & Emboss machine nearly every time I design a card. If you want embossing using Embossing Folders or cutting with Framelits/dies this machine is a must in my opinion. There are tons of framelits now that match the stamp sets to avoid fussy cutting out the image. Here is the link for the machine at my online store: www.stampinup.com/products/stampin-cut-emboss-machine?demoid=16275
      Hope this helps!!

    most people put the dies in face UP and paper on top to cut. How come you are placing it the other way around ?

    • @lisasstampstudio
      @lisasstampstudio  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks so much for watching! Always put your dies face down on your cardstock then cut. When using the magnetic plate the die needs to be face down.

    Well I'm sure disappointed in my new machine, I watched your video and thought wow looks like a great machine so ordered it, last night when I was cutting some dies the instruction sheet that is on the plate rolled up and came off all crumpled, very disappointed in how hard it is to open up too. $120 down the drain in my opinion.
