Fancinating review and shoot beautifully! That ash tray note always puts me off a bit, but love a nicely peated beast. Proud to have become the 1k subscriber.

Thanks Jeff! 1000 subs! I'm happy you own that spot! Looking forward to 2023. As I've moved through my journey I've gravitated towards the peated whiskeys and have really been enjoying them. Cheers!

In wine tasting the characteristics of the taste can be impacted by the biodynamic calendar. Based on the Moon's influence on the underground water levels. Id like to hear your thoughts on how that might also impact different bourbons from day to day.
By the way I love the video quality and cinema photograph of your channel. Your tasting notes are always great to understand.

I'm not knowledgeable in the topic of a biodynamic calendar to make a comment on how it can influence bourbon or other whisk(e)y, but I'm sure there could be some influence on the grain. I appreciate the feedback and compliments. Cheers!

I am a homesteader/backyard gardener. I cannot speak to how planting and harvesting with the moon cycles effects the components of bourbons, whiskey (y) but I have tried this in my garden. I found biodynamic principles a tough transition from non-celestial planting/harvesting practices. I would be interested to learn if any distillers practice biodynamic planting/harvesting the grains used in the creation of their spirits. I am going to research a bit and see what I find about this practice in grain production.

@@championhomestead6273 let me know. I also know that a wine bottle can taste different based on where we are on the biodynamic calendar, despite when the grains were planted.

I am still hesitant to buy Japanese whiskey. I tried one in my local TW and I found it quite similar to a Tequila reposado.
On a different note, in regards how the taste changes. From now on I will be tasting my whiskeys little bit different. I will grab 2 glencairns and serve a normal dram in one. Then, I will pour just a few mls from the main glass and mix it with the same amount of water into the 2nd glass. That water down version will be my starting point and it should give me the right notes/flavors that I am trying to find for that whisky. Also, it will help me with the introduction of alcohol, diminishing the numbness that can be caused by that first sip, mainly from CS expressions.
I am curious if you'd like to try that. ✌

Japanese whisky might be getting popular enough to get in a bar/restaurant so you can try before you buy. I'm all for trying different ways to try whiskey to get more from it. Add water, add ice, chill it, warm it, and drink it out of different glasses. Not all whiskey is created equal.

Strange. My bottle has a lot of sweet notes, like a sharp bourbon.

It just wasn't my favorite profile. I need to revisit it and see if it changed at all.
