This is so amazing. Video, music, words, all this creates a perfect entirety. Showing us, how alone we are, how dificult is to be yourself. We create masks to hide our true personality, to survive in this world, full of people who just can't accept, and even try to understand how different we are. We belive that we have power to show them how wrong they are. But we don't feel anger for them, they just make us sad. So sad. For what reason they are full of hate ? From what reason these people feel so much fear ? We don't know. We can just belive that they some day found themselves, and that they won't have to go through misery which they inflicted us. My brother and his wife met one day in a coffee shop, we live in Canada and she lived in slovenia. She was here visiting for a few days and after they met they couldn't be separated. Long story short they dated long distance after she left for almost a year before she flew back permanently and after getting married and 3 years later she's a permanent citizen. They're now 6 years strong now. So don't say it can't work because it will.

I think this is a message trying to say to everyone that being yourself is what gives you power and strength, because when we cant be ourselves we fall apart. When she puts on the hat and cape, shes becomes fearless and unbreakable. Shes learned where her strength is, its in herself.
I have a theory about the connection of the song and the video: The real story here in my opinion is about someone who is so different on the surface, in the way she acts, from who she really is. "me" and "you" in the song are basically the same person who just feels so far away from her true self. There are oceans between them like stated in the song. In the video that girl puts on the mask and the cape to try to be more like herself, and the bullies symbol the difficulties in the process, they are the ones pulling her down. They make her hide her emotions and act normal instead of just being herself, and when she tries to resist them like in the video she gets hurt. In the end she finally overcomes the struggles of fighting to be her true self and by her power which is her emotions she finally becomes her true self, who she really wants to be. Weather or not this theory is true I find it highly interesting so I'm just sharing it here.

In my opinion, the song is for someone else like a girlfriend, crush, and that shit, and the history portraited in the video is just one artistical vision that they thought later after writing the song and that, if looked from another perspective, still holds on to the same feeling, or something similar, to what they used as an inspiration to make the song.
This song reminds me of the only boy I've ever been able to love. We had good days and today all that was left were memories. Every fight has made us drift away, and today I feel like have an ocean between us. I hear this song and I remember how it felt to not fit in when I was young. I don’t think I, nor the people who bullied me, really knew what was going on at that point in our lives. However, there is a certain kind of sadness that permeates my memories from school growing up, and this music video just reminded me how hard it is to feel out of place. To those out there who feel like life is hard and you’re going at it alone: It’s not just hard on you, it’s hard on the people who love you. As shitty as that sounds, there is power in numbers. I wish I had understood that, with every failed friendship of mine or bad rumor that was spread, my mom heard it all from my sisters and friends and she helped me in so many ways. This is so amazing. Video, music, words, all this creates a perfect entirety. Showing us, how alone we are, how dificult is to be yourself. We create masks to hide our true personality, to survive in this world, full of people who just can't accept, and even try to understand how different we are. My brother and his wife met one day in a coffee shop, we live in Canada and she lived in slovenia. She was here visiting for a few days and after they met they couldn't be separated. Long story short they dated long distance after she left for almost a year before she flew back permanently and after getting married and 3 years later she's a permanent citizen. They're now 6 years strong now. So don't say it can't work because it will.

I have a theory about the connection of the song and the video:
The real story here in my opinion is about someone who is so different on the surface, in the way she acts, from who she really is. "me" and "you" in the song are basically the same person who just feels so far away from her true self. There are oceans between them like stated in the song. In the video that girl puts on the mask and the cape to try to be more like herself, and the bullies symbol the difficulties in the process, they are the ones pulling her down. They make her hide her emotions and act normal instead of just being herself, and when she tries to resist them like in the video she gets hurt. In the end she finally overcomes the struggles of fighting to be her true self and by her power which is her emotions she finally becomes her true self, who she really wants to be.
Weather or not this theory is true I find it highly interesting so I'm just sharing it here.

I hear this song and I remember how it felt to not fit in when I was young.
I don’t think I, nor the people who bullied me, really knew what was going on at that point in our lives. However, there is a certain kind of sadness that permeates my memories from school growing up, and this music video just reminded me how hard it is to feel out of place.
To those out there who feel like life is hard and you’re going at it alone: It’s not just hard on you, it’s hard on the people who love you. As shitty as that sounds, there is power in numbers. I wish I had understood that, with every failed friendship of mine or bad rumor that was spread, my mom heard it all from my sisters and friends and she helped me in so many ways. When I was miserable, I wasn’t alone. She was hurting for me and wishing she’d protected me from it all, even though she’d done everything that she could.
