I'm so glad more people are playing this game, it's seriously one of my favorites. ALSO! Since Mike asked, and Molly's death is one of my favorites to explore, I'll do my best to explain. So, after being sent to bed without dinner, Molly starts eating a bunch of stuff that really isn't good for her. Specifically, an old carrot partially eaten by her gerbil in a dirty cage, a half finished tube of toothpaste, and 3 holly berries (and no, they're not the Styrofoam ones). Holly berries contain toxic substances, including the alkaloids hyoscyamine and scopolamine, which are known to cause hallucinations and muscle spasms. It's believed that this, along with the germs on the carrot left by her gerbil and the chemicals in the toothpaste led to a serious and sadly, fatal bout of food poisoning. It's the general fan consensus that her whole little journey you see in the game is her delirious hallucinations that happened while she was sick. Since she didn't exactly write down what she ate and was likely too sick and out of it to remember herself, it's unlikely her parents knew what was actually wrong, leading to her not getting the proper treatment that might have allowed her to survive. Molly's tale is one of tragedy for sure.
along with the berries, the toothpaste most likely had salt, crushed brick, charcoal, chalk, and possibly soap since people didnt stop adding soap into toothpaste until around mid 1940 and she died late 1947. And she also possibly couldve had salmonella because of the gerbil leavings on the carrot.

This is my second time experiencing this game, and I still teared up at the end when the son was closing up the book. I just love how imaginative the storytelling is in here. So much is shown throughout the home in very subtle ways to give greater breadth to the characters, and no two family member's experiences were the same. I do hope to see more games inspired by this one.
I surprisingly cried a little at the end. The part when she died and was telling her child that she wanted them to be amazed that they made it this far hit me hard.

!SPOILER WARNING! Is nobody going to notice that every person in the house died by/because/were what they loved? For example, molly died after turning into animals and eating, barbara died (Or was seen dying) after thinking that she recieved her stardom again, Calvin died after "Flying", Sam died after a "Shooting incident", Lewis died due to his imagination, and Walter, our dear Train lover, suprinsingly got hit by a train. Thinking of all this and all the other deaths, we can assume, that the curse is that every family member dies by/because of what they loved. If we assume (im not saying its correct) what mike said is correct about Edith dying of giving birth, this could support the theory because the child was the only thing she still loved as all other finch members died.
Dawn dies of cancer though, and the older Finches never explained what their interests/loves were (Odin, Johann, Ingeborg). Gus is arguable, he was rebelling and died as a result of that, but I'm not sure if that he really loved doing that. Still, I agree the majority of the deaths do involve their loves and interests!

I literally thought this was just a game of someones mother dying from a car crash and to see what happened and i wouldnt cry BUT THIS...THIS IS MUCH MORE DEEP MAN. Ive never played this before but i also cried to the fact that edith's mother has never shown her this and how she ripped that book apart like it was nothing. AND THE GRANDMA WAS LEFT ALONE. I could just feel the sadness from that. This was way to sad bro
I did cry. This game is gorgeous. I watched it when it came out in 2017, but I was too young to understand any of it. All I had was vague memories of a cat jumping out the window for a bird, and a fish canning factory. I occasionally wondered about if I'd ever find this game again and I'm so glad I did.
Lewis’ stories is still my favorite story. It’s brilliant. I have played and watched others play this game countless times and yet his death still has the biggest impact.
Weirdly, one of the most recent games to make me cry was "Catto Boi: Trouble in Love Land", it's a Catto Boi visual novel game based on DDLC that is about an hour long and I really loved the game somehow, but near the end the game is very fucked up and it made me cry, but I'm emotional.

It's an Android game that you can also play on Steam called Seven Years From Now. It takes place in Japan and was originally in Japanese and the story is really good. It's like a VN but without the choices and to be honest has so much suspense and plot twists that you'll never be able to put it down(though the plot twists aren't as dark as this one ofc). The friendship between the characters will make you cry and the music just makes it even better. It's about a 17-year-old boy named Haruto Soraki, coming back to the town where he grew up in, to learn the past that he had forgotten or something along that. In other words he has amnesia. Actually you can just go check it out if you want to. That's all. Love your videos, btw!
There is a sad game that I played on my phone called Moncage. It doesn't take too long but to get the sadness you have to go through the game several times and it's a cool game and the story behind it is what makes it sad
