Great video. No BS, no bias, real customer. I really appreciate you pay a great effort to share your experiences. I do not like the pressure sales method too. When a company gives you a quote, then cut the price off like half, I know this company is not honest. No matter how good the product are. They just don't come forward the new price.

Been in the industry for a very long time, in all honesty leaf protection has blown up. This product along with several others prey on the elderly "sales training" and effective marketing keeps them going. Good to hear you've had a good experience, thanks for sharing your video. This company reached out to my company for providing installation, I couldn't consciously keep doing business with them seeing the kind of marketing and sales they were doing. One things for sure they know how to maximize thier margins.

What do you mean? Their marketing is aggressive? Are they selling honest products? Or just hard sell something that is not really needed to most of us? I guess if you live in a forest, or lots of tress around, that might be worth it? Not for the city folks?

Leaf Filters material cost is $1.25 to $1.75 per foot max. They pay the installer $175-$300 per job. I worked as a subcontractor for a few months for them, God knows how much the estimators get. Their margins are massive

I live under an oak tree cleaning the gutters was an enormous job with bags of leaves and Debree. I have had my leaf filter gutters for 2 years and for me they have been a God send. Yes, I had to give them a sweep once a year but so what. They are priceless to me. I got new seamless gutters also from them and the installers were excellent. Yes, I haggled and got the cost cut in half. I would do it again in a heartbeat.

Got the same price gouging quote as others have said
here. Started at approx. $11,500 and ended up at around $4800. Very old high pressure sales tactic and yes they almost demand that both decision making adults be there. The salesman used the old “let me call my boss for a better price” thing like used car salesmen. Just told them I wanted a quote and would not buy tonight, salesman left and never called back.
Not a very professional sale approach in my opinion, buyer be ware, look around before you commit.

  • @piffpete420
    @piffpete420 23 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

What’s sleezy about them is they pay less as the jobs get bigger. So the typical home the installers get about 5-6% of the total job cost. But on big jobs even though the final amount is bigger to the installer it comes out to about 2-3% of the total cost. So a $4,000 job at 6% is $240, a $10,000 job at 3% is $300. You’re getting screwed for doing double the work.

Great video. Thank you for sharing so honestly your experience -- very helpful. Seems like the Leaf Filter gutter guards are actually pretty good quality, and what you paid for (or arguably overpaid for) was the installation, which is a tough job getting up on a ladder. For what it's worth, if you can do it yourself, there are lot of other options now. I'm considering using "Easy on gutter guard" because Costco is selling it for $70 for 36 foot. Looks about as easy to install as your Leaf Filter is to reinstall. Has a solid micro mesh top, but no plastic underlayment.

At 18:00 he is talking about the "aluminum drip edge". If you purchased this gutter system or any cover system with the Theory of Liquid Adhesion, you have purchased a product that will deflect most heavy rain falls into your yard, down the foundation of your home. Of course, hardly anyone goes outside during a pouring down storm to check out the efficiency of their gutter cover system. They see the result of a pore gutter system when leaking foundations start to cause problems.

I don't have Leaf Filter or anything like that, but I did put new replacement windows in my house about a year or so after buying it back in 2004, so that was a LONG time ago. I did the "usual" research, and got four or five estimates from different companies (of which, obviously, there are TONS to choose from). One company in particular was one who advertised heavily here in the Cleveland area. They had these hokey commercials featuring Mike, "the owner" and the company was called Regency Windows. In retrospect, I realized that simply based on their insulting, attempting to be "funny and entertaining" commercials, I should have known better. In fact, they went out of business or simply changed their name a few years after I got my windows replaced, because they all of a sudden disappeared. They were the last company that came out to give me an estimate. Long story, the other four companies had sales people come out, and they were nice and professional and not pushy at all. I have a modest home and one or two even said to me, in a very NON insulting way, that the less expensive windows would be fine for my house and in my area. Not so much with the Regency company. Regency's guy? LOL. I'm NOT exaggerating one iota when I tell you he insulted my intelligence and actually got aggressive when I finally, after TWO AND A HALF HOURS of telling him I'm still looking and deciding (he was in my house literally one minute when I made it very clear I'm still getting estimates and wouldn't be making a decision that evening) on what company to go with and he swore at me under his breath and i had to threaten to physically throw him out. I almost had to call the cops and I'm dead serious. He wouldn't leave. He also went with the "let me all my boss" line and went out into the driveway and purposely talked loud enough so I could hear the conversation. I have ZERO doubt he was talking to no one. I do NOT trust any of these people. NONE of them. SUPER high pressure sales tactics and he AND his boss had the balls to call me the next day. I went wit a different company and saved half the money, and learned a valuable lesson; never, ever have anyone start a BS presentation in your home. I've had two other things done since then and the minute I sense it's going to be more than a fifteen minute estimate and it's going to transfer into some two hours long, rehearsed presentation - I cut them off and tell them they have ten minutes. I'll NEVER get roped into anything like that again. Never. Give me an estimate, you have ten or fifteen minutes, and keep the miniature "sample" windows and/or anything else in the company vehicle. I am not interested in seeing it.

The Regency guy you dealt with is exactly what my wife and I went through with Erie Roofing. Erie borders on criminal behavior, that POS arrived at 5 PM and left at 10, 5 hours of listening to his bullshit and table top samples and all kinds of crap he kept showing us.
I wanted the stone covered metal shingles, lol well at 70,000 dollars....yes 70 grand lol....he admitted that's too much money and damn near physically tried to get us to sign off on 29,000 dollar shingle roof.
I already had an estimate of 10,500 on a 35 year dimensional shingle by Owen's Corning. Anyway that sob left at 10 that night in his new sports car and man was he pissed.
He was about 23 years old and thought he had a live one. I'm like you...never again!!

Leaf Filter came to my house to give me an estimate, my house has a Gable roof 65 feet of gutter in the front and 65 feet on the back total 130 feet of gutter, they estimate $8900, so their price would be $68 dollars per linear foot of screen then after 1 hour of bargain I said I won"t pay more then $5 dollar per linear feet plus labor which wouldn"t., be more the $250 per labor and after many calls to his boss they came down the price to $2500, then I said OK the price still NOT fair but I will agree, so I give an advice you you ask for this kind of job, whatever price they give you at first TAKE 75% off and that is the fair price, good luck to all. HOHOHO Merry Xmas.

Just had them at the house and they told me $9,000 with new gutters! By the time they left it was down to $5500. It was $2900 just for the gutters. I new FL has a 3day cancelation contract. i called them up after watching a few youtube videos and told them I'm cancelling the contract and then told them give me an estimate for just the gutters (which are heavy duty great quality). They got it down to $2350 yesterday. Today the salesmen calls and says he wants my business. I told them I had other estimates and what's the best they could do. He came back with a $1350 price and will get installed tomorrow after I inspect all the product. If it's not what they said I'll tell them to get los=t.

I got them down to $16 a foot not knowing that I had to negotiate. He started out at $55 a foot. I was curious just like you and unable to find prices anywhere and in no way about to pay $55 a foot. I got them down to $16 and I'm on the west coast. I think labor is kind of high around here. My battery is dying let me continue on another device..... ok, so finally he came down to something like $19 a foot. All the same sales gimmicks you mention, sign in the yard and all, with tax, no tax, all the games, it was like buying an automobile. Mind you, I just had mine installed December 2021. I'm 50 but I had a stroke last year. My wife doesn't want me on the roof anymore and I don't want to be up there either, my balance isn't what it used to be, but I get a lot of pine needles (fir trees) I think after finding your videos I'm in for more of a pain than anticipated. I was able to get the price down through (bulk pricing). He also got my dad's house and I have other rental properties. I've had a few problems, mainly with installation. 4 different jobs, 4 different contractors (installers). 6 of the buildings had one set of installers, those installations all had to be corrected (basically redone) by the contractor that did two of my other buildings. The installer/contractor that did my personal residence did a good job but originally I had a couple of seam/corner drips that the salesman said they would fix when they clean the gutters and seal all of the seams/ corner's. Needless to say, they're still dripping. At my dad's house he has a pitched smooth (TPO) style roofing material. He has the same problem as me but his is much more noticeable. He has a covered deck and they drip in several places inside of the deck. To their credit, leaf filter has sent people out every time we contact them about our issues so far but needless to say we're still having "issues". The weather's predicting snow this weekend so we'll see what kind of issues that brings, I'm already having dripping behind the gutter issues. Even though I just purchased this system I hate to think about taking them off! So far it hasn't been have them installed, and forget them! And it hasn't even been a month. I think they'll work but I think it's still going to require work. Thanks for your videos. I just wish that I would have found them sooner. I don't know if I added anything to this video other than what area people should be in pricing. Definitely not over $32 a foot! I did get info from one of my installers that said he gets $1 a foot for 1st level, and $2 a foot on the upper level of a 2 story . Whatever that's worth.

Leaf filter has the same warranty as every other crappy product out there! The company knows how good their product is and the warranty reflects that. If a product only has a no clog guarantee, the product is going to plug and then it will have to be cleaned(good luck) or replaced. All screens and meshes have a no clog warranty. Stay away from products like that. And remember, they can print whatever they what on the internet so the warranty and BBB are the only good places to research

That mesh is surgical stainless steel it's the same mesh used in stints to hold your blood vessels open. ORGANIC MATERIAL WILL NOT STICK TO IT. Leaf Filter 🍃 was here a months ago and they realigned the gutters so they had the proper pitch and of which we had problems with they also cleaned the gutters. Those channels in the UPVC SLOW THE WATER DOWN so it doesn't run across the screens that UPVC piece gives the mesh an 11° pitch. IF YOU ARE NOT HAPPY WITH THEM THEY HAVE A LIFETIME WARRANTY and that warranty stays with the home.

If they can buy the micro mesh screen to make them, anyone can buy the same material. And anyone could cut the screen in the proper width screen and install them over the gutters. We were in the middle of several projects involving contractors and renovations and I just did not want to take any chances with the roof and risk any issues or damage to the foundation for that matter*. I'm fairly certain I paid a premium for this Leaf Filter gutter system (about the same you paid). As far as the matter of nearby risk, I'd say there's one medium sized oak and one big maple near the house - not a ton of the usual suspects that can really jam up a gutter, like pine needles piling up or a history of algae.
*I live on a hill so drainage is a key issue

Yikes, $7000!!! Haven't seen your previous video's on this but my jaw dropped when you told the story here and that you (or your wife) agreed to that insane price, lol at their initial offers... I wonder what the actual material cost + labor was, had to be thousands in profit... I'd have bailed at the point when they didn't give you an indication of price or ballpark $ figure at the trade show, not worth the run around. Did you have issues with your gutters getting clogged with leaves before? It doesn't look like the trees are "that" close. I have a couple of trees that overhang my roof a little and only clear my gutters twice a year, doesn't get too bad and local companies are quite reasonable for clearing ($100-200 (canadian) a go) if I wasn't able to clear them myself.
Glad they are holding up so you can feel at least somewhat justified with the price tag I guess.

You hit the nail on the head! When they can NOT give you a price range per running foot, it's best to keep on walking. I realize you can get into some difficult situations with location and multi level homes, that's where the price range comes in.
OTOH no one twisted our arms lol. They have indeed done their job, not a single leaf or seedling has got into the gutters.
I appreciate you watching and the comment!
      Stay safe!!

Don't buy this product. It was a great idea. But it doesn't work. all the water over the leaf filter. The water doesn't go down the gutter. This product is not good investment.

It's a total scam job. It must've took at most 7 hours to put these guards on. The materials are going to be around $600. You're paying $750/hr for the install for gutter guards??? Total rip. Taking advantage of elderly people. I bet you he wasn't even actually talking to anyone on the phone.

The more I think about the "conversation", I think you are 💯% right. He always had to walk about 30 to 40 yards down my driveway to talk to his "boss".
      Never again!

You shouldn’t of took them off because that voids your warranty. They hardly service this crap to begin with. But now you are screwed. Warranty is voided.

I'm not too worried about their warranty. Once the sale is made and guards installed, these folks are gone with the wind.

Interesting experience on getting an estimate from "Leaffilter", high pressure sales today only price now! He went from 6,400 down to 3,900. He got upset 😡 that I would not comment. In my opinion it is overpriced!
Just thought I would share my experience with "Leaffilter"
