    So wonderful to Mr. And Mrs Wulff again. Lived next door to the in the 60's. Still tie flies on the vice they bought me back then. Two of the nicest people ever.

    It’s great fishermen of the past I keep seeing his videos with passion and respect for these super fly fishermen who taught us everything

    What a treat to see Lee and Joan Wulff again. Lee was a true gentleman fly fisher. Joan was no slouch of a fisher either and was well known and respected for her casting prowess. In 1951 she won the national fly-casting distance title, the only woman in an all male competition.

    The things we take for granted, like a rubber mesh net on a magnet release! Hahaha!!! Great video. Joan outfished her dude. I love the connection to one another fishing brought them. The way he held onto her hand and arm as they left the water. So cool. I watched with a smile on my face the whole time. Thanks for posting!

    Reminds me of the Dennys River here in Maine back in the 80's. Beautiful fish wish we still had fish able runs left here!

    My introduction to flyfishing was a movie featuring Mrs. Wulff. I remember my mother being impressed with her casting ability. Sadly she never tried it.

    Lee was a real pioneer. Used a photographers vest for holding all his stuff. The inventor of the fly vest!

    So sad to visit those pools now devoid of salmon but the memories of those that were fortunate to fish them remains.

    Very nice video :)
    Would anyone happen to know what rods Joan and Lee were using?
    Seems Lee’s was short graphite ...?

    Just looking around to see what I can come up with, and it looks like a Mitchell 754 reel. I like the licence plate at 17:42 SALAR

    I loved the whole video, but dumbfounded to the fact the such experienced anglers did not carry nets!

    • @andrewgio1
      @andrewgio1 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      people didn't carry tons of stuff back then, besides the fabric nets from back then would of killed most fish in the netting process. Lee Wulff and his wife joan were two of the best fly fishers of all time.

      @plutoplatters 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      funny... I've never carried a net in my life... don't even think about them ...

      I never carry a net for salmon fishing unless lake fishing from a boat. None of my friends do, either!

      Salmon can usually be tailed and its safer for the fish

      Yes today flyfishermen are carrying too much junk with them. Only because the salesman told them to. Keep it simple. Its more fun. Fish are caught by fishermen not by fishing equipments... less is more. And the old mens rods and reels are more fun too use. Try it. Simplicity is the key-word. You dont need half of the equipent you carry around.
