Story book forest is the best. It's absolutely living a child's dream, growing up hearing these nursery rhymes, then being able to actually walk in to, touch these stories is amazing therapy lol. Idlewild is laid back, in the woods, calm. Just a nice day off and a lil fun kinda thing. Thank you for making this video!!
Thank you for the memories of a place my parents "dragged" me to a few times when I was a child. It's hard to believe that we'd actually miss those days!
Hey Jacob, thank you so much for sharing all of these tourism videos like side attraction, hotel, disney worl, etc. By making all of these videos you are helping me for upgrading my knowledge about tourism cuz i study tourism in my highschool. Sorry for my bad english 🙏
You'd love a tour of the USA. There are plenty of places like this off the side of the road just about everywhere. Hey, let's go do that crazy weird thing I just heard about. It's 30 miles from here! Back in May I visited a life-sized Noah's Ark just off the highway (I think the CB made a video for that). It was something to do. In October, there will be haunted houses popping up all over the place. I enjoy those.
12:28 (little boy blue) "Little boy Blue come blow your horn, the sheep's in the meadow, the cows in the corn.... Wheres the young boy who looks after the sheep?, He's under/yonder the Hay stack... fast asleep"
So nice to see an old style park, targeted for children of any age, but especially the little ones and the grandparents. Great outing Jacob, and thanks for the enjoyable tour.
I have fond memories of going to Idlewild with my family as a child. We have several old home movies from the mid 90’s of our trips there. Thanks for posting this!
That place looks amazing. It is cool to see Raggedy Ann and Andy. The man who created these dolls, Johnny Gruelle, was from Arcola, IL. Arcola has a Raggedy Ann and Andy Museum. As of this year they are 106 years old. It amazes me that these old time dolls are still household names all these years later.
3:10 When I first went there was a female tour guide. The second she hopped up on that milk jug and stood there at the weird angle, I got sick. I mean I understood the illusion but apparently my stomach didn't. I was queasy and dizzy for about an hour. I held it in, but wow. Prepare yourself mentally if you intend to go and have never been.
Story Book Forest is 65 years old. Idlewild and Soak Zone is the oldest operating amusement park in Pennsylvania, third oldest in the United States, and twelfth oldest in the world. Curds are the cheese, whey is the liquid. A tuffet is a low seating or footrest device. Unlike a stool, a tuffet is typically covered in fabric so that the framing device and legs are not visible.
The Storyland of “The Little Engine that could” looks more like a Thomas the Tank engine knockoff called, “Tomáš”. I remembered reading that book when I was a kid YEARS ago. 🚂🚂
On the Disneyland ride they have the Casey Jr train from the animated Disney silly symphony, and he says “ I think I can , I think I can in a steam engine-y voice “ before it takes off down its track. I loved that they put that touch in there and then they do the song from the cartoon. It’s one of my favourite Disneyland rides cause you can have your popcorn on there and just relax and have a nice little view of Fantasyland. I can’t wait to take my niece to Disneyland when she’s older.
This is so cool. I love it. A taffet is a footstool or milkstool Thank you for another great video. I love all these stories as I read all of them to my kids when they was babies. Stay safe. Stay blessed
I rode my first coaster here.. didn’t think it went upside down but I was a kid lmao sooo I swear it did cuz I didn’t sit back and got stuck for a second with my head at my knees. Also got so Wild West photos. It’s a cute place.
I'm fairly new to this channel, but I love the quality content you produce, and I really admire all the support in the comments. This is definitely my top 3 channels on TH-cam keep up the good work!
I rode some of those rides back in the 70s and 80s. That was a trip down memory lane. Before Mr. Roger's Neighborhood there was a zoo there. There used to be a dark ride there that was a spaceship. You would have loved it.
If you are still in the area ..stop by Del grossos and swing up to Dubois to visit Doolittles Station...dinos , mini golf, a brewery , and goats ..LOL Story book Forest needs a paint job here and there. Nice to see they updated the castle area with the sword ..it used to be just a facade with the stone in front. .
Jake.....love your channel! The next time you are in the Pittsburgh area you MUST visit the Bayernhof Museum. It's an eccentric mansion built by an eccentric millionaire with lots of rare and valuable musical curiosities. You will enjoy everything from a real observatory dome on the roof to a cave in the basement leading to the wine cellar that you will get to using secret passageways!
I grew up near there, am now 65 and moved out of the area at 41. my daughter, 40,went there a lot as a kid and we all went a few years to the highland games.
I still have my Idlewild pennant from the early 90's. Brings back great memories. I have many old photos from this place 30 years ago. Kind of sad they had to change the Mister Rogers Neighborhood but kids today wouldn't really know the show so I can understand.
I went to Storybook Forest as a kid in the early 80's, loved it! My mom and I watched the video together and lots of the same things are still there. Also, there used to be a bar in Latrobe PA, near Ligonier that had 2 floors of taxidery, the owner was apparently a big game hunter. It was called Jack's or Joe's or something. I was there around 2006, not sure if it's still there.
There's also a fun place for kids called the Jumpin Jungle. Lots of slides, cargo netting to climb, stuff like that. When we go, we normally start the day at the Soak Zone. Water slides, a wave pool, a lazy river, etc. They close early so go there first. It's on the far end. Idlewild has a passable entry-level coaster called the Rollo Coaster. I like the Wild Mouse better, but it's often closed for rain. They have good soft serve over by the theater. My brother likes the theater to unwind. And there's plenty of large pavilions by the parking area, so feel free to make it a picnic/party and bring lots of food. For really big groups, I would call ahead and ask for reservations.
Wow! That was a lot of FUN to see this IDLEWILD Theme Park in Pennsylvania. Great 👍 mix of vintage rides with a Storybook Land (nursery rhymes) and just geared toward the younger children. Very Nice. (Seeing the “Wild Mouse” 🐁 reminded me of old Riverview Amusement Park in Des Moines, Iowa. Has anyone ever heard of that? I loved that place as a child.)
My childhood park. My grandmother would take me here every year as Johnstown’s Lee Hospital had their company picnic here. Storybook forest was my absolute favorite attraction
I'm glad you go to places in the Northeast Jacob. Idlewild Park is a great theme park. I think the Dragon is Puff the Magic Dragon. I liked the live sized trolley. Daniel Tiger is a puppet that Fred Rogers created. I didn't see Lady Elaine there. You should go to Kennywood park while you're there.
6:43 There was a short film from 1924 Walt Disney made called,, "Alice Gets in Dutch." The live action sequence at the beginning of the short film has a schoolhouse similar to what Idlewild has, and Alice gets the Dunce hat in the corner later on.
I’m not far from Ligonier, pa! There is a place called Ligonier Creamery, they have the BEST ice cream in town! Oh! And Ligonier have cute little shops on the diamond.
Hi, I watched a video once about the origins of Peter Peter pumpkin eater. Apparently Peter's wife was cheating on him (he'd couldn't keep her). So he kills her and puts her body in a pumpkin shell (and there he kept her very well)
I don't have any children either, but I watch PBS, and I do love "Daniel Tigers' Neighborhood"--love the theme and the positive "messages" at the end of each episode
I used to watch Daniel tiger's neighborhood TV show as a little kid seeing it again and now big form but now with the footage of Mr Rogers I think that with a real life trolley I'd be amazed by seeing a traveling through this town that I live in
There used to be an attraction here around 2006-2008 called dizzy Lizzies saloon and it scared me as a kid it was a room where you sat on a bench and the room spun and it went upside down and you could see skeletons under the floorboards
Ah the Octopus!! I almost slid out of one of those when I was a kid. It stopped with me at the top and I had slick pants on so I had to hold on to the bar for dear life until it started up again!! Oh the memories LOL!
These little places are so cute. My husband has talked about building one of those little Ferris wheels. I had rather have one of those little trains and train tracks for our grandchildren. We could fix it were it go all around our property. I think they'd love that. I wish this place was a little closer though so we could take our grandchildren to it. I know they would enjoy this. 🤗
It is a very relaxed park. Enough fun stuff for teens but you are right , more geared to the younger ones. Great place to introduce kids to an amusement park. I just love all the shade there...so much cooler in the summer.
I always love watching your Jacob Carpetbagger I hope one day you and I can make videos I also live in knoxville and will be moving to severville eventually when I get things situated
It's like he caught her on-the-sneak or unawares somehow so she came back w/forced comfort so he wouldn't catch on which just made them both uncomfortable. Nah. Probably just the camera. Still can freak ppl out, esp if they didn't see it coming/
16:16 I normally fit through as easily as my cousins' kids, probably not now though as I'm recovering from a knee surgery. I'm confident I could fit even under current circumstances though if I wanted.
Jake, you're a comfort food.
Agreed
That is incredibly accurate.
I love Jake’s videos! I get to explore so many places while watching
I was a carpenter there in the 80s until 2000
It is obvious most things in this park were made and maintained with love!
It’s an incredible place my friend.
6:18 she did NOT expect you to be alone 😂
0:26 Who else can hear wanted dead or alive in the background?
Idlewild is a beautiful park- some wonderful old rides & perfect setting. Thankfully it's still here- I live close to there & thx 4taking us along!!
So happy you visited here! This was my hometown park growing up. I had yearly school park days there. And you nailed saying Ligonier.
Same here
Thank you for the memories of a place my parents "dragged" me to a few times when I was a child. It's hard to believe that we'd actually miss those days!
Thank you for loving our local little parks as much as we do!
Hey Jacob, thank you so much for sharing all of these tourism videos like side attraction, hotel, disney worl, etc. By making all of these videos you are helping me for upgrading my knowledge about tourism cuz i study tourism in my highschool. Sorry for my bad english 🙏
Your English is fine. :-) I have seen many native English speakers who are way worse.
Your English is very good! I know native speakers who can't string a sentence together 😂
Your videos made me feel safe and “home” when I moved to a different country away from my family for work. Thank you!
So glad you got back to Idlewild! Those little handcarts were a childhood obsession of mine.
Mine too until i had kids and had to do the "pedaling" WHEW that is a workout as an adult. LOL
Yay there’s me!!
A "tufet" is like a small stool with a cusion, or a small ottoman
It’s a “ tuffet”!
"Childhood is Eternal, IMAGINATION IS KING"
I like that!
12:28 (little boy blue)
"Little boy Blue come blow your horn, the sheep's in the meadow, the cows in the corn.... Wheres the young boy who looks after the sheep?, He's under/yonder the Hay stack... fast asleep"
My heart skipped a beat when the trolley drive up!!!! 💗💗💗💗
So nice to see an old style park, targeted for children of any age, but especially the little ones and the grandparents. Great outing Jacob, and thanks for the enjoyable tour.
This looks like such a sweet and beautiful park to visit, thank you so much for this video Carpetbagger 😊💖
Little Miss Muffit sat on her tuffit eating her curds and why. Along came a spider and sat down beside and said, "What's in the bowl bitch?"
You said it right! Thanks for visiting so close to home
I have fond memories of going to Idlewild with my family as a child. We have several old home movies from the mid 90’s of our trips there. Thanks for posting this!
Thanks so much for this video, jacob. I used to frequent idlewild and kennywood parks when I was growing up. this oozed nostalgia for me. 😁😎👍

Yea until Annabelle ruined it. Lol
Visiting here with my son in a few weeks he is so excited! Great video
Hi Jacob fantastic video thank you for sharing these wonderful places you travel to see do and experience
Hey Carpetbagger. Cedar Point is my hometown theme park, and I wish I would’ve bumped into you while you were there.
Idlewild Park was really a great place for children. Very good memories were made here.
5:35 I don't think that was part of his script, someone pay this man
It is part of the script. I've been through it many times and it's always mentioned.
@@amusementnow4416 I figured as much, but I thought it was funny to point out :p
@@amusementnow4416 regardless, the raise would be nice lol
Not part of script, it has been made part by cast members

You gave me such a good laugh today with your reactions to the attractions. Much love from near Cincinnati Ohio

Joe's Bar is still there, I was there a couple of weeks ago:-) It's located on West Main Street in Ligonier.

I love the Mr. Rogers ride!!!

tuffet -a small grassy mound, footstool or low seat.
I have a 4-year old that absolutely loves Daniel Tiger. I Will definitely have to take her to Idlewild - she'll love that!
I been to idlewild Daniel tiger neighborhood ride used to be the mr Rogers neighborhood ride back then
Love those old theme parks. The schoolhouse looks like those student desks are antiques!
Figaro was the cat and chleo was the goldfish
Yes, Chleo it was! How could I forget?
Cleo* No idea how you got the "h."
Spell check made it chloe; I just switched the e & o

My 7 year old freak out seeing Daniel Tiger ride. Now she wants to ride the trolley. ☺This was such a amazing park.
What a cool place! Thanks for bringing us along. The trolley ride to the land of make believe, awesome.

I spent childhood summers at relative's in Pittsburgh. The visit to Idlewilde and Storybook Forest (as it was then called) was a highlight.
This is the cutest little Storyland. But I wish they had more characters hanging about.
wow back in western PA. check out the Bayernhof music box museum in pittsburgh if you can. it’s truly amazing and should not be missed!
Omggg not the crooked man 😬😬😬
6:43 There was a short film from 1924 Walt Disney made called,, "Alice Gets in Dutch." The live action sequence at the beginning of the short film has a schoolhouse similar to what Idlewild has, and Alice gets the Dunce hat in the corner later on.
Great job!! This was such fun, LOVED the storybook area and confusion place. i also just really enjoyed all the animatronic like characters. :-)
Jacob, the fish in Pinocchio's name was Cleo. Great video as usual. Thanks!
Always a good time!!
I have such great memories of story book forest, my children loved it.

Oh my gosh, I used to have cousins who lived in the town! I think some of them worked there some years back! Nice to see what it looks like!
in GTA online we still wear a DUNCE hat 😂🤣

I used to watch Daniel tiger's neighborhood TV show as a little kid seeing it again and now big form but now with the footage of Mr Rogers I think that with a real life trolley I'd be amazed by seeing a traveling through this town that I live in

Is kennywood Park on your list next ?????
The dunce cap means you did something wrong or foolish and they're want people to know what you did.
@@bugsbunny4539 wow
I like the Daniel Tiger neighborhood. The Fairytale Forest looks like it needs to be painted. Otherwise cool place.😊
I love the cartoon spin off of Mr Rogers neighborhood. It's comforting knowing that his lessons are continuing to the next generation.
Enjoyed replay thanks

The fun times i went to idewild as a kid
Looks like a terrific place for the younger set . Thanks for the tour. Keep Safe ❤Keep Well ❤

A tuffet can refer to a small raised piece of earth or a small cushion stool.
11:30 Cleo was the name of the fish in Pinocchio. Figaro was the cat.
That awesome the Daniel tiger ride . I remember when I was little going park
I always love watching your Jacob Carpetbagger I hope one day you and I can make videos I also live in knoxville and will be moving to severville eventually when I get things situated
Hey, Mr. Bagger! Welcome to Pennsylvania! I would like to recommend Conneaut lake park to you. It opens July 2nd. Hope you can visit!
6:13 that exchange with mother goose was super cringe lol. I actually had to look away during that part
This! 😂
This is comment I came looking for
It's like he caught her on-the-sneak or unawares somehow so she came back w/forced comfort so he wouldn't catch on which just made them both uncomfortable. Nah. Probably just the camera. Still can freak ppl out, esp if they didn't see it coming/
Jake, I got your postcard last week, hope all is well, love your videos
Old woman's shoe is structurally unsound. Someone finally listened to the engineers...
I'm happy to report the old woman's shoe is repaired it and it's open.
Haha your camera angle gave away the trick with the bottle. I’m sure most already know that one but still funny
Confusion hill is messing with my eyesight 🤣🤣
It do be quite confusing tho
idk about yall but at the beginning did i hear wanted dead or alive by bon jovi?
16:16 I normally fit through as easily as my cousins' kids, probably not now though as I'm recovering from a knee surgery. I'm confident I could fit even under current circumstances though if I wanted.
I went to that storybook forest when I was little. Great park!
Jacob, you should go to Clarks trading post in new Hampshire
He has a video of that I’m pretty sure..
You should go to the PA Grand Canyon in Tioga Co Pa.
Highly suggest you check out the Carousal Museum in Bristol, CT
