    It was always obvious to me that Thanos was not a villain. Thanos spared the lives of the Avengers multiple times. Even when he stabbed Stark the wound was not fatal. He did not completely crush War Machine, and didn't kill Captain America when he had multiple opportunities. He could have crushed Wanda's head like a grape as well when taking Vision's infinity stone. Instead he petted her like a dog. He phased Banner into rock but didn't kill him, and spared Dr. Strange and the Guardians of the Galaxy too. Thanos believed that what he was doing was best for the universe. Deranged? Yes, but not pure evil.

      I mean it would still be an incredibly stupid plan, even if he snapped half the population of every planet to prevent the celestials from being birthed, they would get back to that population before long anyway, and the same thing would happen. It's a little more intelligent than the whole "resource deprivation" motive, but it's still incredibly stupid. This is honestly the issue with making bad narrative decision's, even if you slightly retcon it down the line, it doesn't make much more sense, especially because he destroyed the infinity stones, perhaps the only things capable of dealing with the celestials, when he was done.
      Thanos purpose in the MCU was apparently to be a very dangerous idiot with no understanding of population dynamics or the long term effects of his actions... I don't think you can argue his actions were benevolent, because he would have been granting those people a relatively short (compared to the grand scale of the universe) number of year's at best, meanwhile the people living on those planets are now going to come after him with a vengeance and try to reverse what was happening (he could have used the mind stone to erase their memory of the people gone at least). What he could have done was find a way to permanently limit those populations, or to increase the number of resources, or any number of things that make more sense. If he had spent half the time crusading around the universe as he had converting people to his cause and teaching them his ideology, he probably would have been far more successful.
      Thanos is the perfect example of a great character that was misused by the writer's 😐

    I have to say I'm really glad they deleted a lot of these scenes.
    The Thanos retcon would be awful. We spend multiple movies understanding Thanos' rationale and he specifically talks about the reason he believes overpopulation is a problem is there are finite resources that can sustain the population and this was the reason the population on Titan became extinct. There was never once anything about how overpopulation results in celestials being born and that is what destroys planets. Also, in Eternals, it clearly show that the entire planet gets destroyed during the birth of a celestial, not just the population. Titan is clearly still around, the population was just wiped out, so it wasn't a celestial being born that destroyed it.
    I think a better explanation would be that the original Eternals sent to Titan rebelled against Arishem (or another celestial that sent them there) and prevented the birth of the celestial there. Eros and Thanos are not Eternals sent there, but instead the children of an Eternal, similar to the comics, but unlike the comics, they are half titan as well. They would have been born after the original Eternals on Titan prevented the celestial being born. Thanos is eventually banished from Titan because of his proposal to kill half the population, but Eros remained there. Since the planet wasn't destroyed by the birth of a celestial it allowed it to grow in population to the point where it ran out of resources to sustain the population. Prior to the population of Titan being wiped out, some of the residents managed to evacuate. Eros' Eternal parent, who could also be the prime Eternal for Titan, chose to remain on Titan and sent Eros off planet, also passing on the prime eternal title onto him. Shortly before he was evacuated, his Eternal parent could have explained the Eternals on Titan's original mission and their origins, which would include the world forge. Eros is now looking for other Eternals on other planets across the galaxy, which is why he wasn't there to help stop Thanos. After Professor Hulk's snap to bring back the other half of the population, he went track down the Eternals on Earth, knowing they'd have a large and intelligent enough population to birth a celestial.
    This would explain:
    -How Thanos and Eros are brothers but Thanos didn't know or mention the Eternals in IF and Endgame
    -Why Eros has more knowledge about Eternals and Celestials than Earth's eternals
    -How Eros is able find the Earth's eternals and why he's deciding to seek them out now
    -Why Eros wasn't around to help stop Thanos

      Great summation of points and ideas.
      Obviously, Marvel had quite a lot to do in order to clean all of this up. Your explanation of Titan's demise and Thanos's plan is much better than what was given to us here in this video breakdown. As you said, Thanos had a specific reason for wanting to eliminate half of the Universe's population, which had nothing to do with an 'Emergence'.

    In the last Avengers movie there were clues that Thanos' explanation of the destruction of his home planet Titan was not the wholestory - when the Avengers approached the planet they noted it's axis was way off balance and the magnetic and gravitational fields were all shot to hell. Overpopulation and depletion of natural resources doesn't do the kind of damage to a planet the Avengers observed. An interrupted Emergence could certainly have done so.

Titan, the planet he refers to as his home planet, was just the planet the Celestials assigned him to, so it became his home just as the earth's Eternals became bonded to earth and it's people. And like them, Thanos discovered the true purpose they were there, and tried to prevent the Emergence. Thanos says the cause of his planet's demise was too many people, which had been assumed to mean he was talking about the overpopulation causing a depletion of resources, but now we know better. Look at Titan that we saw in the last Avengers movie - the planet clearly suffered major upheaval onto the effects of an aborted Emergence could create. Overpopulation doesnt cause a planet to tip over on it's axis.

    I don't know if this has been addressed in the comments yet, but Strange, Stark, Parker and the Guardians were *ON* Titan with Thanos when he told his story. You show footage of an emergence bursting the host world apart completely, so I do think there's still a big continuity issue. Plus, if you make Thanos' mission about preventing the emergences in order to preserve the lives of the people that would die, then you have to ignore that many worlds that got affected by the snap are not seed worlds.
    Ultimately, the snap cost a lot more lives than it would have to let the emergences play out. Trying to save Titan by reducing its population? Sure. But his subsequent mission falls apart, narratively speaking, especially since the snap doesn't prevent the Eternals from pushing overpopulation again. Their missions just got 50% longer, which is nothing if you have literal eternal life.
    As for why Starfox didn't stop Thanos from wiping out half of all sentient life in the universe, how about because the writers hadn't thought of him yet at that point? Some characters that get shoehorned in just can't be made to work in the context of what has come before, no matter how much you retcon. That applied to Captain Marvel, when she had been there during the ninetees all of a sudden, and it applies to the Eternals just as well, who are on a mission to push overpopulation but aren't allowed to intervene when someone tries to achieve the opposite.

    BS. This is just retconning Thanos' mission. He made it very clear that culling half the population was about scarcity of resources to support life, not about reducing life to delay the Emergence. If it was about the Emergence, he would have just snapped the growing Celestials away, not half the population.

    1) If Eternals are created to blend in with the population of their host planet, why does Starfox look human. Did people on Titan look human? I assume they did, just based on the few comic book images in the video, but just checking.
    2) In the alternate ending Tiamat emerged and Earth was destroyed, making the story of the Eternals belong to an alternate universe in the multiverse. But is this possibly still the case, even though Earth was not destroyed? Are there any confirmations/Easter eggs in Spiderman, Hawkeye of a giant stone titan in the Indian ocean? I don't remember. Maybe the Eternals are STILL in an alternate universe and they will crossover with the main MCU in a future movie.

      @MediaTHREEH 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The deviants need to be explained certainly and on Titan they may have evolved differently just as the one on Earth was doing during the course of the Eternals movie. Then Starfox could say they are "brothers" in that they are both children of Eternals but not actually blood related beings. The "Titans of Titan" could therefore have been a people of Deviant DNA base on some level. There's a whole host of possible options here as to how this could've happened and thus escaped "Eternals Intervention" the way described going on with Earth. This story could've been handled so much better in hindsight, and we needed to have someone like Makaari around more in the movie to help explain some of this (the super-book reader she was).

As u already saw in the movie, that when deviant absorbed eternals power they also absorbed eternals memories. Idk how many eternals that has been absorbed by this deviant, but i assume the last eternal that had been absorbed its power is the real a'lar, but with the power of a'lar and the memories of others absorbed eternals, it makes the conciousness of the deviant has been taken over by the real a'lar and makes a'lar is an eternal in deviant's body. i think after this incident, thanos and eros are born as a twin, in which thanos is dominant with deviant gene, while eros is more into like human gene..

      Nott all celestials are as gigantic as they have so far appeared in the MCU. Which could mean that while the birthing of a celestial on Titan could've caused an extinction level event, it may not have literally ripped the planted apart.

    Whether or not Celestial population would have halved when Thanks snapped and brought in the blip ?

The eternals is the closest thing to endgame talking about the timeline, So no, no way home couldn't be happening at the same time as the emergence

    Changing the motivation for Thanos genuinely ruins his character the snap seemed more like an opportunity and a lesson for all life to change, preventing them from destroying themselves, it makes sense because he saw the ignorance of his own people and decided that the only way to make people change their way of life to be more considerate of the future is to take away half of all life.
    You can see that he views the snap as a gift and an opportunity in end game where he becomes furious that even after he succeeded life was still to ignorant to to change and head towards a brighter future and instead went back to destroying itself, hence him wanting to start anew in the hope that he can teach life to change.
    His motivation has much more depth when you view it like this, it makes more sense as well because he would obviously know that the population would return in 1-2 generation, it was never about providing more recourses for one half.
    If marvel decides to go down the route of Thanos being motivated b the emergence it would be genuinely disappointing.

    • @JohnDoe-zr8pc
      @JohnDoe-zr8pc 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Problem is that it was a very very short term solution. The population would’ve bounced back in like 3-4 hundred years, then the same problems all over again, PLUS the Celestial being born anyway, and the stones destroyed so no snapping again.

    • @maythesciencebewithyou
      @maythesciencebewithyou 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      MCU Thanos character was shit from the beginning. His motivation never made sense to begin with. This way it makes at least a little bit of sense. They should have just brought Thanos to the movies the way he is in the comics. A nihilist who loves death above all.

    • @Jodat1
      @Jodat1 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@maythesciencebewithyou I think they intended for Thanos to use the snap as a message over all, showing all life what happens when they don't appreciate what they have and encouraging them to better manage recourses and population. It makes sense if you look at his speeches about balance more about the idea of equality rather than a literal even split. It also makes more sense that he is angry about people reversing the snap instead, with them continuing to be ignorant and wasting the planet and recourses they have.
      If they went with the nihilist motivation of the comics he wouldn't be anywhere near as enjoyable and literal becomes the stereotypical villain that's evil for the sake of evil.
