The tune is Po Atarau. The hymn was written by missionary James Orr on a visit to New Zealand. He heard Maori girls singing the song Po Atarau. What he heard and inspired him would sound like the very beautiful "Po Atarau (feat Maisey Rika)" found on You Tube

Douglas's version, but made my own alterations here and there (ex. key change). You can access his version for free on hymnary.org by searching "Search Me, O God". I hope this helps!
Although I personally prefer the more up tempo version, this also does the hymn justice. However I would totally agree that it penetrates to the heart of a person. Although the theological nature of the lyrics may be slightly controversial to some people.

It's an amazing song considering it takes Psalm 139 "Search me if God and knows my heart"out of context. In the Psalm, David means God should know he is right and faithful...not that he's confessing sin.
