About the farm laws. As good as they may sound, they are not practical. They are built on the premise that farmer incomes can be raised by raising the price of food at the dining table. That will not work. The price at the dining table is already very high. That’s why we have untold amounts of undernourished adults and stunted child population. However, we may take a cue from how china did it. They moved farmer and rural communities over into manufacturing jobs first by the mid 1980s and that simultaneously resulted in higher farmer incomes automatically as farming communities shrunk rapidly.

I’m positive. But the growth isn’t what is being projected. There are clear contradicting metrics. It’s nothing to do with gut feeling. That answer about the gut feeling of critics is a lame response. Dr. Panagariya should remain true to the body of knowledge called “economics.”
Examples of contradicting metrics are: slump in consumer spending, slump in savings, high inflation of day to day items including those of food. Incomes have come down, not in actual number, but in terms of their capacity to help purchase goods. Incomes buy fewer goods today compared to two years ago. So all in all, these things do not add up to the growth figures being put out. Of course, the growth figures do match government spending. But growth numbers are never calculated using spending numbers. Spending is not growth. I do not understand why economists run into a mental block and start to stammer and grope for words to explain the point of view of critics as a mere projection of their gut feeling. That’s ridiculing critics. Making fun of critics is not an intellectual thing. The point of view of critics is so simple to see and understand!

He made a what similar claim of sustainable GDP growth in 2009 in tune with the IMF that 11% Growth is sustainable under he DR MM Singh's regime which turned out to be a fiasco. Having manipulated Dr YV Reddy and Dr MM Singh with the help of his Master Jadish Bhagwati (Gujrati) Padmabhooshan within a couple years he pledged legion to RSS-led Modi leader of the BJP he manipulated the Vice President of NITI Aayog failed there and as a consolation he has been appointed chaim of 16th Finance Commission. Disgrace to professional ethics and academic conscience!
